When do Christmas temps usually start?0
-
It varies between different stores.
Not all temps start at once, they are on split intakes. In my store the first intake is usually the last week in September and the last one is at the very latest the first week of November, usually with 3-5 people starting each week. That's 3-5 new starters as midweek workers a week and 3-5 weekenders, so 6-10 new starters a week.[DISCLAIMER: Any posts made by myself are my opinions and do not represent my employer]

What are the minimum number of hours you need to do for a pt weekender please> x0
-
Again you need to check with the store you are applying for, but our store offers weekenders either 7 hours split over Sat & Sun (3.5hrs x2) or 6 hours Sunday, but we only usually take 1 or 2 Sunday only staff, we take on many many more 7 hour staff because Saturday or Sunday Christmas trading alone from personal experience can outweigh 2 days worth of weekday trade.[DISCLAIMER: Any posts made by myself are my opinions and do not represent my employer]

Is it usual not to let someone know how they got on after having a group interview?
The reason I ask is that my son (then 16) had a group interview last year and didn't hear anything aftwards (which I thought was a tad rude)
Would it be worth him applying again this year?2014 Target;
To overpay CC by £1,000.
Overpayment to date : £310

My son is starting college in Sept and has been looking for part time work. He was 16 in Jan is it worth him applying or do they not hire so young. A lot of companys dont seem toCherish those you have in your life because you never know when they won't be there anymore.
No matter how you feel, get up, dress up & never give up.0 -
cjj - We take on 16+ BUT you have to have left school, i.e. we don't take Year 11/5th Year students because of school commitments, e.g. if Year 11 John Smith started failing his GCSEs and said 'oh but I have work' then the employer would get in trouble, whereas after the compulsary education mark (Year 11) it would be fine.
mountainofdebt - He should definitely reapply. I am one of the co-ordinators at my store and when we look at the app form we have a good look at flexibility, so if he was applying for a weekend job he should be ticking all of Saturday and Sunday (morning, afternoon, evening) and any extra hours he can do. When we do assessments we look for those who are team players and contributors, not those who just sit and smile, or those who are overpowering. With regards to notification it's because once we have accepted the temps we want there's so much to do that sadly notification gets left out to those who didn't get in, and all we can really say is 'i'm sorry you didn't get a job', we may not be able to give specific feedback because for my store i've got to assess 100 - 110 people! But he should deffo re-apply.
If anyone has more questions or wants some advice please ask me on here :A[DISCLAIMER: Any posts made by myself are my opinions and do not represent my employer]
