I apply about 2 days ago so I just wonder how long the application process was and what does the assessment involve.

Well so far all they told me in the email was that wear smart dress as some of the activities will be on the shop floor. :S This is my first ever interview so a bit panicked!

Stay calm, be polite and friendly. Be sure to ask any questions that you need the answer to - try not to be withdrawn and shy. ;):D

    It's all good experience
"Part P" is not, and has never been, an accredited electrical qualification. It is a Building Regulation. No one can be "Part P qualified."

Well good luck and let me know how you get on.
  • Anyone know what the rates of pay are? And is overtime standard rate or 1.5x/2x?
  • Another question - I have two Argos stores fairly near me. Is it worth submitting an application form at each of them, or should I just stick to one?

@paris - sure will let you know... :)

@wings of ambition - dunno about pay but yeah submit an application to both...because i doubt they share applications across if its done on paper and not online.

if you think its easy work at argos - think again!
its hard physical work - their warehousing system seems to work on numerical order - so you could find large tvs on top shelf . you then have to climb ladder (if you can find one) and manouver tv yourself - call for help and you get called a wimp. just a warning - i enjoyed my time with argos cos i was mostly on till. when i had to work on order picking - i didnt like it. mostly because the system made no sense to me! but - argos are fair employers. they DO take on temps if permanent jobs available - most of the permanent staff at store i worked at said they started as temps . manager was really supportive of staff with disputes with customers. what more do you want?

The current basic wage is £5.77. Overtime up until 9PM is standard then 1.5x, sunday is 1.5x and bank holidays are 2x.

Applications are not shared so apply to all stores you can get to.

LOL ok well maybe not easier in that way but i mean there is no selling skills involved!

I hate the thought of trying to sell things to customers.
