Theres some serious misinformation, generalising and from what I can see, dire attitude problems on this thread.

Well said Dev didn't think you had it in you icon7.gif Really said you had gone sulking into discussion time.
'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher

    Now:

    a) why would you think that?
    b) what makes you think I have work colleagues?

Don't be going getting personal now!

Do you believe everything he says, or have you got your own mind and own eyes to read what I said?

I am not partaking in general house price or economy threads any longer, as I cannot be bothered with it all anymore for the reasons stated, and todays threads, which I have read have only further reinforced my view on that! But this thread had me interested and isn't anything to do wth houses, charts, lines or doodles. :)
  • the point is, no one is having a go at individuals. people are simply saying the public sector is overblown and employs too many people.
Is that so? You don't think any of the comments below are personal then?

"You should get no pay rise, as your job probably isn't even needed. you are just another cost to the country."

"the fact is you probably couldn't cut the mustard"

"I hate public sector employees. useless, overpaid, and greedy."

"God, if it wasn't for councils guys' like you would struggle to find a job."

"It's you I am slagging Kriss"

"the fact you work for the public sector shows what type of person you are."

"If only you'd done a degree in something useful"

"you don't actually PRODUCE anything in these non-jobs"

Is this true? do you not have non contributary 45ths or 60ths of final salary? 4k average per annum? seems similar to an average private sector defined contribution scheme?!
Mine is 60ths and everyone pays between 5.5-7.5% of their salary to it. The more you earn the higher the percentage. If you work part-time, you pay based on your full-time salary. I have no idea what the average pension is though.

  • The more you earn the higher the percentage.

How does that work then, the higher your salary, the more you pay for the same pension?
  • The percentage bands are in the first link I posted.

Don't think I would be too happy about paying a greater %age for the same pension.

Sorry mate, now I understand, you just wanted everyone to feel sorry for how unlucky you are.

    Got it!

    Wrong again.

I simply wanted to open a discussion regarding the likelyhood of the suggested pay freeze and perhaps hear from others who experienced a similar qualification bar.

Oh and I didnt get promoted as such, I applied for dozens of more senior jobs until I eventually got one. Im actually the youngest in the entire service at this level.

Yup, contrary to your continual prejudice regarding the type of person I am I kept knocking on doors till one opened.

    sure didn't read that way
How likely is that they will freeze our pays?

Im pretty sick of the luck Ive had in my local council. When I joined 3 years ago there was a freeze on pay due to restructuring. I got a £30 pay rise that year.

When I was finally promoted I was told I was stuck at the bottom of my scale until I completed an HNC in Civils as my degree wasnt relevant enough.

Now as Im nearing the end of the HNC I hear they are looking to freeze me for a further 4 years. pfft.

26 years old and even without the pay freeze it will take me 11 years to get to the top of my scale which is only 22 grand. Who says us council workers are overpaid?!?!?!

It was you that used the word promoted...........why.........if it wasn't promotion?

Yup, contrary to your continual prejudice regarding the type of person I am I kept knocking on doors till one opened

Well done on not giving up, but why were you knocking on doors for a job with a salary you consider to be so low?

Kriss, can you not see it is you that is creating the luck you refer to?
