Is this true? do you not have non contributary 45ths or 60ths of final salary? 4k average per annum? seems similar to an average private sector defined contribution scheme?!0

your not paying me to do sod all, your paying me to work - which i do
I wouldn't bother mate, you are dealing with the the Daily Mail brigade 'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. With the state of the public finances and reduced taxation income. Julys taxation income was truly shocking. We cannot afford the public sector as it currently stands.
A way has to be found by cutting costs. If not by jobs then by pay.
Agree completely. I think that efficiency savings can & should (& indeed will have to be) made.
My concern though, is that the decision makers who choose where the cuts happen will pick easier options, and protect whatever VI they have. I anticipate they'll cut grants to voluntary organisations and cut services before they cut frivolous jobs which are less urgent.
This has a knock on effect of increasing the public perception of public sector wastrels.
A bit like the politicians, it is society's responsibility to fix this, by voting, making representations to MP's, councillors and the like. They work for you, they are public servants too remember. We, as a society should ensure that they remain as public servants, rather than allow them to service their own interests. It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0

the point is, no one is having a go at individuals. people are simply saying the public sector is overblown and employs too many people. whatever it is that you and your "team" does, if you were in the private sector, there would be 50% less of you doing the same thing.
plus, people also think that if you don't like the public sector pay, then you can leave and work in the private sector. there is a reason why the majority of public sector workers stay in the public sector.0

I do think its wrong for people to start throwing personal insults just because some works at the council0
