It's happend to me twice on two different Egg cards, both phone top ups after a very small test transaction. I could not understand why they did not find out who the phone was registered to and catch the b*****s.
  • My Mrs has just been checking her online banking and seems to have been hit by this too, what a pain in the backside..

And now she's just had another £30 deducted by Orange.

Its sickening and ridiculous that nothing seems to be happening to sort it. Greg, please email watchdog on the link above.

I have done. She's just received her new card from the bank after having to cancel it, but still yet to receive the charges back. The O2 one had even set up a bloody direct debit on her account!

She's with T-Mobile and always has been, she's never owned an O2 or an Orange phone. Grrr.
  • Hi - I am yet another innocent person to be taken for a ride by O2 to the tune of £30. My Bank card details were 'obtained' - how is anybodys guess. Today I spoke with the Banks Fraud Department who have completed the necessary form which I will sign on receipt and they have put a stop on my card as a precaution. The situation is quite ridiculous as I have never had dealings with O2 and my card is kept safely. Somebody needs to stop these scams pronto and O2 should be sued for malpractice.
    - still  yornoc

  • Hi hethmar and thanks again for the advice. I emailed watchdog tonight as you suggested........yornoc
  • I've just discovered 5 of the O2(LTD) PREPAY, SLOUGH £30 transactions on my NatWest current account in the last week. I too am not and have never been an O2 customer. NatWest have cancelled card, but because 2 of the transactions (yesterday and today) are still pending they can't do a fraud investigation. Have to ring back on Monday! Have moved all money out of that account.
