I also have just noticed a debit on my bank statement for £30 to O2 prepay Slough. I'm very concerned about this as when i had a look at the pre pay page on O2 it required not only card details but address details. I think this is very worrying as surely it is impossible for these fraudsters to gain such a wide spread data base of people address. I live in Belfast and having read numerous threads, the only link that i share with everyone else is that i shop using paypal. Very worrying experience.0

Please add your complaint to the watchdog link. I think the only way we are going to get these idiots to tighten up there security is to have them disgraced on tv.

PAYPAL does seem to be the suspect for a lot of people ... the card of my boyfriends which got done by this scam is the one linked to PAYPAL too...
Anyone else thinking this maybe the link?0 -

I just want to say thanks. This thread has been a great help to me. I discovered the O2 payment for £30 and panicked. Barclays said I had to start a disputed payment procedure and replaced the card. But now I know it's fraud I think I can be a bit more confident about pushing for the money back (fingers crossed! Wish me luck, LOL). Thanks to everyone for sharing. And good luck to everyone else who has to sort this sorry mess out for themselves. I wish we could sue O2.

I've already posted my concerns on the watchdog web site, i really do agree that this has to be investigated. I also think myself that it is linked to paypal or web buying, because how else would they get your address. I considered all possibilities. It can't be a filling station because my car is a lease car and isn't registared to me and i never put any confidenial info into my bin. So it must be web purchasing. There needs to be more sucurity measure.0

This happened to me in a more unusual way. I am an 02 prepay customer, but when I last used the web top up for £20 I found that a duplicate amount also appeared on my credit card statement, which had not been made by me and was not added to my phone credit. I reported this to the bank and to 02, the offending sum was repaid and as there were also other unknown transactions one of which was to Orange Prepay, the card was cancelled and replaced, but then 02 blocked my phone! After 3 weeks of phone calls, emails, and empty promises that someone will call me back it still remains blocked.:mad:0

We've just noticed a £30 o2 pre-pay charge on our credit card. I'd added our credit card to paypal a couple of days earlier to buy a couple of items from ebay. Coincidence?
My OH rang our credit card company and they've cancelled our card. I am so angry now and I've deleted all cards from my paypal account just in case.0 -
I too have had this same scam.
My card is linked to Paypal and i will be willing to bet it is something to do with them, they are an awful company!! report paypal to watchdog not O2 !!!
just because it says 'Debit Card - O2(Uk)ltd Prepay' does this actually mean is is O2. i could send money to someone via online bankiong and put 'Debit Card - O2(Uk)ltd Prepay' as the referernce?0 -
Oh thats true bmiles - but wouldnt that show on your pay pal account?
Whoever is at fault, we need it sorted NOW. Low life scum taking hard earned cash is just despicable.0
