O2(UK)LTD PREPAY This has just happened to me as well, found entry on CapitalOne card; they are refunding, stopping card and issueing with new one, it is so annoying, such a waste of time, have to wait seven days for new cards, then remember new pin number ..... YAWN0

It seems like fraudsters clone cards and make Charity Donations / Phone top ups / Small transactions to see if the card is live and then move in for the kill!!0 -

I too have had £30 debited from my HSBC account for an O2 (UK) Ltd Prepayment.
I'm with Orange.
I'm stunned. I'm paranoid about security, only use secure sites, have two malware and virus checkers (McAfee, Defender), clear my internet history every time and log out after every visit.
I have recently used my card to download singles from Amazon and 7Digital and THAT'S IT!
The transaction occurred at 3:18pm on Tuesday 10th March 2009 and the money was debited on Wednesday. I only found this out after I checked at the ATM on Wednesday after a very stressful job interview.
I called HSBC ASAP and had to set up my telephone banking details before I could talk to them about this.
Shruti at the HSBC call centre was in no hurry at all to help me - as far as they're concerned the card security details were used so it must have been my fault.
I spent Thursday morning in the bank and at the O2 showroom spitting like a cat with indignation and fury!
My card has been cancelled and replaced, I've received no forms to fill in and O2 were pathetic on the 'phone.
I contacted O2 through their website and got an instuction to fax them my bank statement showing the fraudulent transaction. I will when I get it.
Both HSBC and O2 told me not to contact the police but as far as I'm concerned, I've been robbed of a week's housekeeping.
No one seems to be in any hurry to do anything, meanwhile someone is walking around with MY money on THEIR mobile 'phone.
I KNOW. £30 isn't much and I could have lost a lot more money BUT (and yes, this makes me sound like a Daily Mail reading Middle Englander) IT'S THE PRINICPLE OF THE THING!
How did this happen? Who are these people? And why is O2 so popular with thieves?
Yes, I reported this to Watchdog. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -
I would have thought they would be trying to sort this out, so far I have not this happen to me, saying that they could try and probably take pity on me and put something in!
To me £30 is a lot of money and I certainly would be in a mess if that amount were taken out, since I found this thread, I have checked my account daily.
I do not have an overdraft and I rarely have this amount in my account except on the day my benefit goes in so if anyone has tried it on me they wont have got far!new challenge?£1 a day for Christmas 2024 £367 / £366 ~Got married 24/05/19 ~ Credit CardDFW Nerd #1155 ~LBM 25/2/09 ~ Debt at highest £8,037.35 ~ £00
