Just got my Marks and Spencers statement today and there was a charge for £20 from O2(UK)LTD PREPAY - I have not used my card recently and have nothing whatsoever to do with O2.
M&S will investigate, I've mostly used my card on Paypal and Amazon.0 -
Well, since I phoned O2 about the fraudulent £30 (2 x £5) top up from my current account, not only have they blocked the SIM that shouldn't have been using my details, but they've also blocked MINE!!
I'm out of the country at the moment with no UK mobile (the fraud thing happened while I was out here) , no bloomin' ATM card (as that had to be cancelled) and have spent the last week trying to get through to someone in 02 who has the authority to un-block my card. I'm spending a fortune on calls to their Customer Services (don't make me laugh!) and being promised call backs within 48 hours which don't happen - probably because I'm out of the country and they don't want to phone international. My poor old mum has had to go out and buy me another 02 SIM card to send to me while I'm here so I can give 02 a UK number for them to contact me on! I'm furious, but when I complain about how much my calls to them are costing (for their mistake) and the inconvenience as well, they just come out iwth a very lame "I understand, but there's nothing I can do".
As soon as I've used up the Credit on my 02 SIMS they're going in the bin and I'm switching to another company.
Would like to add that Abbey were very good and refunded me the £30 fairly quickly.

Exactly the same thing happened to me.....promises of callbacks that never happened, and I wasn't even out of the country! The bank had it all sorted in next to no time but it took over a month and an official complaint to get O2 to unblock my phone. They credited my phone with the amount I'd spent on futile calls to their 0870 number but by then I'd already gone elsewhere, so the money went to Comic Relief.0 -
Oh dear! Got onto my online banking for the first time since I cancelled my card on the 17th and just found another £213 was taken before anyone noticed - whoever had my details bought something from Eddie Bauer's in the States! Not amused. Thankfully Abbey is refunding the full amount, it's just so infuriating - and STILL no call back from 02. How on earth does 02 get away with it?

When I was on O2 I needed to provide my address when I was topping up.
Edit: The name Amazon seems to be springing up a lot in this thread!0 -
I've been hit with this as well.
Got a call from MBNA tonight asking if the 3 x £10 o2 pay as you go transactions put through my card today were anything to do with me, which they aren't. I am an o2 customer but it's a contract via direct debit, and I always shred (crosscut) all my letters etc.. when I put them in the recycling bin.
I'd have noticed this myself but am grateful the card issuer queried it with me.
And yes, the card was registered with Amazon. I have another registered there that I hardly ever use anywhere else so will be keeping a look out for that as well.0 -
Hi,
I check my Internet Banking daily so was horrified this morning to discover I too have been hit with this scam. I immediately contacted my Bank, HSBC, and they asked me the inevitable questions such as had I shared my details recently or left my card laying around. After 5 or so minutes it was concluded my card had been compromised so the lady immediately cancelled it. She also stated that whilst an investigation would be raised and I would be sent some paperwork, a refund had already been issued (along with a new credit card in the post). I asked her if this was a common problem and she said yes. Therefore, presumably, on that basis the refund was issued so swiftly.
Obviously I am annoyed with this happening but am grateful to HSBC for acting so efficiently. Also, I have had the same card number and billing address for many years now so maybe it was time for a change.
I would recommend everyone checks there statements and I Banking as often as possible!0 -
I have just been hit by this scam a few days ago, same "Debit Card - O2(Uk)ltd Prepay".
Went into Bank of Scotland and they were really loathe to help me, the guy kept trying to convince me it was something I had forgotten I'd charged for. He claimed it couldn't be fraud as the amount was too small- utter rubbish.
Eventually got to speak to someone who could cancel my card and put in a fraud claim, which took forever.
So now I'm waiting for a new card but in the last few days there is a charge of 11.30 cash. Is that related or am I just being paranoid? How can you get a cash charge not in multiples of ten?0 -
