  • report paypal to watchdog not O2 !!!

This is what I have been thinking
  • For everyone posting about Paypal - my Mrs has been done by this twice now and is not registered on Paypal. My card is, which has been fine, but hers isn't.
  • Just double checked my Paypal account - I have 2 cards and also 2 bank accounts registered on there and have done since 2004 and I've never been hit by this O2/Orange scam, and I definitely dont have the Mrs' card registered on Paypal.
  • I've just discovered £30 prepay O2 top up on online banking last night. Also 2 x 2p transactions to paypal. I haven't got either a paypal account or a prepay mobile phone. HSBC fraud dept did the spanish inquistion when I phoned them to tell them. Asking me loads of questions about who I live with and have I given my card to someone else which I haven't. Now got to sign a form stating it wasn't me who used the card for these transactions.

Hi, I'm no expert, but from memory, when I was adding my card/linking my bank account to paypal, they deposit 2 small amounts and then you have to go on their page and let them know how much it was so you can complete the process.

I have had paypal account for years and not had a problem with them, also have used vistaprint with no problem and used pay at pump type things with no problem.

I have a debit card on a LloydsTSB basic account, just wondered what types of cards are being stung with this scam?

I've been following this thread since it started, and wonder about the progress your all having with Watchdog?

    regards, kd

My boyfriends was Visa debit Halifax card, we suspected Paypal like others but really don't have a clue. I e-mailed Watchdog and seems like others have so we will have to wait and see...

I think they need a bulk number of people complaining before they take it on. So the more the merrier.
  • Just checked my bank statement shows £30 debit for 02 Prepay, Slough. Reported to bank who spoke to card services, they said our account will soon show 2 x 1p which was logged as 'tests'. Apparently the thieves test your card first. I used my card for two online purchases last week, it must have been used through one of these as it never leaves my purse. The money is going back to my account but tried to call O2 fraud line, could not wait any longer so have sent an email. My card is now destroyed but I would like to know from 02 do they have a record of the mobile number which would have used my card details to top up. The bank have said loads of probs with internet purchases as you have to give all details so very easy for someone to copy of card details, including your address etc.
