Don't forget, because of the way speedos are set to read by law, if it reads 80 you may well only be doing 73-74. The person behind may well have his/her satnav giving a trrue GPS reading and they wish to move along at a proper motorway speed of a real 80mph - so they are bound to get frustrated.
Alos, if you're reading 70 you may actually only be doing 65 or so.
Well if my speedo reads 70mph, then that is the maximum that I drive at, as for the "real 80mph " have the government upped the speed limit on Motorways then ?
I thought that it was 70mph.:rolleyes:0 -

Yes, yes I too of course drive spot on 70mph on the motorway as indicated on my speedoit's totally realistic and I have no doubts that the planet will survive another couple of days as a result of my reduced CO2 emissions :rotfl:

Agreed.
I would't trust my sat nav rather than my speedo.
I've got a gps watch that sometimes says I'm running at 49 mph when I've stopped for a breather!!!0 -
Yes agreed but I don't think we are just discussing motorways in this thread.
My slowing down examples for instance are not based on the way I drive on motorways. It would be foolish to do that on a motorway and might cause a pile up.
i see a lot of folk who do this on motorways.
but even on a country road, town centre where ever you are, if someone wants past you let them past if its safe for you to move a bit to the left, dont become a moving road block just because you dont want someone to pass you,let them pass problem solved.
im saying go out of your way to slow down or even stop,im only saying if there is space then keep to the left....work permit granted!0 -
Despite driving a big black machine from Stuttgart, I do not bully people on the roads and if someone wants to get in front of me I just let them get out of my way, just can't be bothered with all the aggression. Funny thing is that most often it is our Bavarian friends that seem particularly anxious to either get in my back seat or get in front of me.0

Where did I say I didn't want someone to pass? I'm female therefore I have no issue with anyone passing me.
If they want to pass that's fine but I don't move over for cars. They have to make that decision for themselves and choose whether it is safe to overtake and whether they have room.0 -

Fab.
I thought you meant me because you quoted me. I wouldn't want anyone to think I was a selfish driver - after all I have a Mondeo not a BMW!
Mind you the Mondeo is so flipping wide if I did move over I'd be picking bits of hedge out of my teeth!!!0 -
But that's no fun! :P
And as people say it does tend to be the BMW/merc types.
Agreed, but at 17, you really do not want to be getting involved with them, should anything happen and you are deemed to be in the wrong, even partly, it will be you that will be re-sitting the driving test, not them.;)0
