Do you have a big car? Are you a bully?

Hi,

Just wanted to ask some people how they are in there cars.

I used to have Vectra's, i love big cars, probably something to do with me being 5ft 3 and i used to cruise to work and back (motorway) quite happily.....until i downgraded to a small car due to petrol prices and tax.

Since this change i have noticed how increasingly 'bullied' i am by other people in bigger cars, it's almost as if they see a small car and think i must be going slow and want me out of the way.
They drive right up my backside and i have even had cars flashing me out of the way, i have to get myself 'psyched' up to drive home now as i know it will be one long fight. I never had this problem with my Vectra.
Although i love my small car now and would not get rid, unless i came into a lot of money:cool:

I do not drive slow and my car is pretty nippy, if i am overtaking at say 80mph (tut tut) then i can guarantee a big car will be behind me pushing me to get back in the other lane.
Why should i sit behind a car doing 60mph??? I would like to get home at a decent hour.
Just wanted to ask if anyone else has noticed this? What do you do? Ignore them and carry on your merry way? or do you go slower on purpose to annoy them?:rotfl:
Or are you one of the said bully's in your big cars?

Thanks,

My OH 'intimidates' all cars that are in the outside lane that are overtaking at 60mph - the old dearies who think they just have to pass the caravan and pull out at the last minute without picking up speed.

There's a time and a place for them, and it's in the inside lane at 60mph where they are happy, not holding everyone else up who has to get to their work on time.

I tell him he's wasting his time, they won't go any faster than 60mph, and he just has to wait for them to pull back in.

In your case, move in once you've finished overtaking, then pull back out behind the big rep type car - they will clear out all the dawdlers and you get a free run behind the big car.

Tailgaters are best seen from behind.;)

Strange, I've found it no matter what car i'm driving, (used to be a laguna, now a micra) i dont get bothered so much by the 'big' cars, more the BMW's and Mercedes, they seem to think that they own the road because they have an expensive car. I admit I do floor it when I drive on the motorway so theres no issue with me going too slow, so say im doing 80(ish ) and overtaking when i get the muppet behind me flashing their lights for me to move and let them past at ridiculous speeds i usually just ease off the accelerator and drop down to 70, what can they say after all i'm doing the speed limit :) that usually annoys them enough to get them to stop or find someone else to intimidate

    So have pity on them..:D
  • just ignore them, if i get some arsssehole trying to bully me i just slow down, then they would of got along quicker than if they had not tried to bully me

i do not get bullied i think ,they might try put it do's not work with some one that drives for a living ,if your doing the speed limit or driving at a speed your comfortable(hope i spelled it right) at,and at a speed that you feel safe at ,
you do not get there any quicker most of the time, you just get stressed up and thats no good

and slowing down infront of them just shows your has bad has them, just maintain your speed and move over if you can ,when you can and not lane hog
there or their, one day i might us the right one ,until then tuff

If the weather is nice too, I have the window down and kind of stick my elbow out in a jaunty way - like I've got all day to get where I'm going! They get the message then and usually either overtake or slow down.

i agree if its a motorway, where i can move out of their way, but if i have some stupid idiot sitting an inch from my bumper when im doing the speed limit on a normal road, i slow down to make it a bit safer for me, im not going to pull over otherwise they will continue to do it even more like a stroppy child

often i find people do it then they dont even over take when then can, of they pass you and you catch them up 30 seconds later behind another car:rotfl:
