oh for gods sake, all these anti bmw people are jealous (i have an astra), most will tootle along in there 1.4's and wont move because it makes them feel better. Just get out the $hiting way !!!!!!.

this morning it took me 20 mins to do a 8 mile journey - not because there was lots of traffic, but because there was 7 cars stuck behind some tw&t going 25mph on 60mph road!

no i dont agree with tailgating but if you want to do 70mph and the 'BMW' wants to do 80 move over and let them get caught by the police, its not your place to enforce it, plus if your concerned by having someone inches from your bumper more reason to pull over, unless of course you enjoy it, so you can moan about it, which i suspect is true.

someone in this thread made a point of tellin someone in another thread to 'get out the way of tailgaters because its not worth it' now there saying 'it's ok im within the speed limit.' Theres always gonna be people who will drive over the speed limit on our roads, so why not just pull over in to the middle lane and let them speed off in to the distance instead of making a big whoha out of it. what you got to loose, you've already said you dont want to go any faster

what annoys me more are the ones who DONT indicate to change lanes

I fail too see how a driver on the receiving end of a tailgaiter, doing everything within the law, could be remotely to blame, I am sure the police would agree with that as well.

Whatever happened to the " two second rule "?

Because, most times I see this happening the person being tailgated is usually in the outside lane for no reason - this is driving without due care and attention. So in effect they are both committing the same offence.

No I'm not jealous. I bet inactive isn't either.

Would any of the anti-tailgating, anti-speeding, anti-aggressive motorists please fess up and admit they are just jealous of people with German cars!

I quite liked your posts wxmlad until #92. Not that you will care but my opinion of you just plummeted.

    You mean the overtaking lane?

Surely if someone in an 'outside' lane is going faster than people in the 'inside' lane - then they can be said to be overtaking!

The kind of people we're talking about here treat the 'fast lane' as their personal lane for getting to their destination as fast as possible with blatant disregard for the rules of the road.

Of course it does, if you went at 80mph they would still be there sitting on your rear bumper.

They are arrogant, inconsiderate and have a deluded sense of self importance.

Going to work today, as in my earlier post I was once again tailgated through the 30mph section, and again once the car caught up to me after the end of the subsequent national speed section. This time it was a Fiesta - does that mean I'm allowed to make the same sweeping statement about all Ford drivers now?

I think people are more sensitised to a BMW because when tailgated by one they car conforming to the 'BMW driver' stereotype. There are plenty of other people out there in other brands of cars commiting all sorts of bad/dangerous driving as well and
If you look at the stats on this page http://www.myroadrage.co.uk/ you can see that the most complained about make is Ford - so you're more likely to encounter bad driving from someone in one of those than a BMW.

well im sorry you feel like that, but i see for myself everyday, i DO NOT tail gate, and i dont get tailgated, because i pull over in the middle lane after ive done my over taking, and let the other 'speeders' go past , i DONT sit in the outside lane for 3 miles letting people tail gate me.

I do go up to 80mph i have been known to do 85mph at night on a quite motorway, i wonder what percentage have never taken their car over 70mph on here?? even by accident??

YES going over 70 is breaking the law, but what can i do about the other drivers whilst im in my Vauxhall Astra? Im not going to put my life at risk to prove a point, as mentioned before, we all KNOW what its going to do - pi$$ the driver off behind, and what does that achieve apart from a near miss or accident

leave the traffic cops to do the law enforcing not us

Just like when i over took someone doing 40mph and they then decided to flash their headlights and tailgate me - why? because its the ' im doing XX mph so everyone else has to, and if you overtake me i'll make it known by doing something stupid' mentality

like the Micra doing 35mph in a 60 when 3 of us over took (safely) he flashed his lights at each over us and gave us a hand gesture- what reason? - im rule this road were on so back off!

And yes i think most people would love to be able to afford a nice new black shiny 3 series coupe, or infact a non german sexy fast sports saloon or coupe, id give my astra up this minute for one!

p.s i dont condone dangerous driving at high speeds, and always do 30 in 30!

Come on - there's even that joke about male BMW drivers and why they make lousy lovers. ;)

Bad driving covers a multitude of sins though doesn't it? What we're debating here is simply bullying and aggressive driving traits rather than just not indicating at roundabouts or whatever.

    Extract from HC

    "110

Flashing headlights. Only flash your headlights to let other road users know that you are there. Do not flash your headlights to convey any other message or intimidate other road users."
That's exactly what I'm doing though

99 times out of 100, the numpty in front hasn't looked in their mirror and doesn't realise I'm there. By flashing my lights I let them know I'm behind them waiting to overtake. If I don't let them know I'm behind, how else are they going to realise I'm there?

Whilst poor lane discipline is one of the things that annoys me most on the roads, I don't go out of my way to intimidate other drivers. If I can overtake without flashing my lights, I will. But if I can't get past without letting someone in front know that I'm behind, I've no qualms about flashing my lights. That's not intimidation.

I find that when I drive my Octavia I don't get "bullied" or pulled out on

etc as much as I do if I borrow my wife's Suzuki Ignis.

Because it's bright yellow people assume a woman is driving it and behave

    accordingly.

As for the BMW debate, It is true most of them drive like pillocks.

And just for the record I am not jealous,I could have afforded a BMW

when I bought my last car but was worried about my IQ and my man bits

    shrinking!

Over half the reported incidents on the website relate to aggressive driving, dangerous overtaking or dangerous driving. I think there's a pretty good chance that the Ford drivers are still going to come out on top for those.
