Is there any bank you have NEVER had an issue with

Well I'm fully aware of that.

Not at all - I think if you looked into HSBC slightly you'll see they do things beyond the realms of other banks - they listen to their customers and actually take risks based on such assessment.
For instance, last December I had over 50 defaults due to fraud/incorrect data on my CRA's and went to open a HSBC account. I applied online and went into branch to sign the forms before the automated decline kicked in. I spoke to the manager and explained my 'predicament' and they gave me a chance - gave me a full account even though my credit file would have had glowing lights telling them to avoid like the plague.
Similarly, 3 months later I wanted a second account, no problem - went into branch and opened there and then, again with a full cheque card etc.
After 6 months, applied for CC and declined. Appealed and won based on my internal behaviour score alone. They basically excluded the credit file info totally.
Therefore in my opinion HSBC go way beyond the extra mile when it comes to treating customers fairly and listening..... in fact isn't their old slogan "the listening bank"?
Also, notice that HSBC are one of the least complained about banks (not just on here)... Speaks volumes
3 cheers to HSBC! :T :T :T

Or confirms that they have fewer personal customers in the UK than Lloyds, HBOS, Nat West, RBS and Barclays. Also, notice that HSBC are one of the least complained about banks (not just on here)... Speaks volumes0 -

Do they or is this hearsay? I'd dispute the worldwide personal customer database, thats for sure..... however as for UK, I cannot find anything that confirms the personal banking custom base.....

Based on UK market share volume data I saw a couple of years ago and shoved in to memory banks.never-in-doubt wrote: »Do they or is this hearsay? Things may have changed a little since then, but I doubt that the HSBC brand has grown its numbers at anyone elses expense.
As the original comment related to UK Ombusdan numbers, the worldwide customer base isn't something to take in to account.
(You do get data interpretation issues with these things - e.g. do you go off account holdings, individual account holders, dormant accounts. Should you include low balance accounts etc. I didn't store the exact makeup of the data in the old grey matter memory bank though!)0 -
I've got my student bank account with Natwest and haven't had any problems with them at all. Previously my bank account was with HSBC and anytime I had to speak to them or asked them to do something I always found them to get it wrong, they never seemed especially helpful, and if you go into the branches it's hard to find staff to speak to.0

I have been with Nat West a long time.
Post RBS purchase NatWest have really changed, for the worse. IMO they now push there staff to be full on salespeople. I don't like this at all and I know a number of their staff are not happy either.
But I have to say they have been very helpful when I needed to borrow money and the credit limits they gave me were always better then other banks.0 -

Hiya
Thanks mate - makes crystal clear sense now. I personally thought custom base went on actual head count, not account count (i.e. one person with 10 accounts is still one customer)..... but then knowing banks they may say that is 10 customers!
For instance (here we go), Barclays - my bestest friends - NOT - they say that they class a credit card customer and a bank account customer separate. Really? Well that is what I was told a couple of weeks ago

They provide "direct" savings products to UK savers, in a similar way to Egg or ING.
I'm fairly sure that they have one or two UK branches but you won't find them on every town's high street.0
