I personally don't smoke any more but I can't understand why people moan about people smoking outside. There was people at the pub a few weeks back moaning they couldn't go and sit outside because it was full of smokers... Tough titties, they we're so pleased when people were banned from smoking indoors and laughed that people had to go and stand in the rain and cold to have a fag, but now they moan that people are smoking outside. Some people annoy me so much.

  • smoking should be banned, full stop.

its harmful, addictive, anti social, costly.

people's better health would ease the strain on NHS care, boost productivity (mon smokers dont get 'smoke breaks'- why should you!?), less sickies, and more cash spare to spend, thus boosting the economy.

here endth the lesson.. and 2nd bar of righteous chocolate..:T

Well if that is the reason's for stopping people smoking then you better stop people drinking as well then. The A+E rooms are full every weekend wasting the resources of the NHS and the police usually because of people who drink.. You need to be a smoker for years to get ill but you can be in A+E wasting tax payers money after just one drinking binge.

I am one of the few smokers that didn't mind the smoking ban (once I got over the minor annoyance) because smoke does build up inside making it an unpleasant atmosphere. I do however get really annoyed with the holier than thou attitude people have, maybe the government should just buy smokers an island or 2 (like the old leper colonies) so us smokers can go have a fag in peace

Not all smokers have extra breaks, instead of having an hour for lunch I have 50 mins and 2x5mins cig breaks.

I simply smash all smokers over the head with a baseball bat.

IIRC in America people buy cans of foul smelling gas stuff [even has colour added]; they then spray this over smokers who pollute them - kinda an eye for an eye...

Of course the smokers go mental...."What do you think you're doing spraying that shi7 all over me??". Protestor says "That's what you're doing to me". Smoker tends not to see it that way....

I love the logic which is irrefutable, it's just i'm not sure I'm brave enough...lol; is anyone??

I find the noise emanating from cars playing pop music at unreasonable decibels offensive. I find screaming infants in supermarkets offensive. I find the disgusting language used by many youngsters in the street offensive. Do I wish laws to be imposed against these? No I do not. Because people are supposed to be able to live their lives untarnished by these unpleasant aspects of behaviour. BUT it is MY responsibility to avoid these things not to expect laws to be imposed to outlaw them.

We have become a nation of pathetic bigots ruled by a nanny state which takes away from us most of our rights to live the way we wish without offending others.

Whilst I have some agreement with your 'nanny state' comment, I do think society has become much more selfish and self centered over time. We seem to lack consideration for others generally....if we didn't, we wouldn't see the examples in your post (screaming infants excepted). It's possibly because we are now such a selfish nation that the nanny state has come about.

My pov is that we should be able to please ourselves unless it affects others negatively. If it does then we either dont do it or we do it in private (that goes for anything). However that said, I realise how impractical this would be to apply to smokers. The smoking ban in public places goes some way towards this but unless smoking is banned completely and cigarettes are not sold then we will always have the smokers v's non-smokers arguments. There just isn't a please all solution so both camps need to be tolerant and appreciative of the other's pov.

I'm an ex smoker btw. I hate the smell with a vengeance now and it does actually make me feel sick if I breath in smoke for any length of time.

How is spraying someone with a foul smelling colour the same as breathing out (foul smelling) smoke?

Some people are such !!!!s

Someone had a go at me for smoking last week, in the smoking area of a Egyptian Airport, !!!!!! there was a mahoosive smoke free area for him to enjoy.

I did enjoy seeing the chavs face, when a heavily armed Egyptian Airport Guard who was stood next to me, blew smoke in his face and pointed to the smoking signs. :rotfl:
  • I wish you could sue fat people for costing the nhs so much money and people with old cars for air pollution, and people who play loud rubbish music/ringtones from their car/mobile for noise pollution.
And basically everyone who annoys me, which is pretty much everyone else.

Exactly confuzzled, i was just about to type the same thing, if smokers are a drain on the NHS then what about obese people?? Alcholics?? and alot more......
The list is endless, you can't just blame smokers, yes it's self inflicted but so is the obesity and alcochlics but they dont get as much bad press.

Smokers smoke outside now, and it still isnt good enough for non-smokers, in fact its the EX non-smokers that are not happy, most of the people i know that have never smoked hate the fact that smoking is banned in pubs because when every one goes outside they have to stay inside looking after drinks and coats etc :rotfl:
