Where are these non smokers? In my local there are hardly any, yet us smokers still have to go outside.
Should be left to individual landlords to make their pub non smoking or not.

During work when I go out I smoke in an alleyway to avoid people. If I am walking and smoking and there are people about I cup my cigarette in my hand so if anyone gets burned its me and I would never blow smoke in anyone's face.

If all smokers were like that then it wouldn't be so unpleasant but you are definitely in the minority.

You have to love the anti-smoking brigade, talking about having a poo on someones shoes because you can't do it on the bus has to be the worst point against smoking I have ever heard, but thanks for making me chuckle on a very dull day.

I don't smoke.... I however do wish my life was as perfect as some of the other non-smokers who clearly never ever do anything to annoy people (Apart from posting silly arguments on internet forums) :D:D:D

    Well read! :T :T :T

Mind, the "likely to cost" does sound suspiciously like a brave attempt to base an argument on correlation rather than causation. And it's funded by the BHF, who one might think have a fairly vested interest in reduction of numbers smoking. If you're going to base an argument on that quote, will you also - in the interest of balance - use this one too?
"Even if it was true, smokers still contribute twice that amount to the Treasury in tobacco taxation and VAT. Far from being a burden on society, smokers make an enormous financial contribution." .
Oh come on, don't be silly.

    It's the internet

I just say,its your fault you didnt want us smoking indoors youve got your way now go inside and smell the loo's and stale beer:rotfl:

You must realise that smokers still smell even when they haven't got a cigarette lit? Don't you?

A smokers permanent odour is so strong that it covers the "smell (of) the loo's" [sic] and no amount of mints or perfume/after shave, will mask that smell. The difference now is that non smokers don't have to passive smoke.
RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

Yes! We pay £4.45 tax on a pack of 20 which means one person smoking 20 a day pays £31.15 a week in tax and £1619.80 a year.

I didn't realise it was that much. ( I think cigs cost around £1.50 ish when I stopped. )

Flipping good reason to try to stop imo. :D

Surprised nobody's mentioned bonfires yet :D

It's a a nice sunny day and all the windows are open and the washing is drying on the line. Neighbour decides to light a smelly bonfire which fills the house with toxic fumes and makes the washing smelly. Can I sue them?

I have never smoked, but I do feel we should all show understanding towards smokers.

They are obviously weak people who do not have the will power to give up a dangerous addiction; are in self denial when they claim they enjoy drawing rancid smoke into their lungs making breathing difficult. They also have no respect for their bodies or life in general, being quite happy as a group, to have a shorter life span than non-smokers.

Let us be tolerant towards them as most will not be with us for very long.
