What I do mind is the people in crowds or even just pushing past when walking who hold their lit cigarette down by their side in between inhaling it; right at the level of my toddlers face!! he's come so close to being burnt by inconsiderate people.
Mine was - selfish smoker in the street held his ciggie well away from himself - burnt right through her sleeve and left a burn on her arm:mad: at least back in the day smokers cupped their cig towards them - even if it was down to the 'third light'!0 -
I have the same situation with a women at work who shares my office. She has a fag break every hour then comes in and sprays herself with perfume to try and mask the smell! Do smokers have idea idea how bad they smell? Also this women at work goes outside every hour for around 5-7 mins at a time, so in the course of a day she spends approx 1 hour on fag breaks!
Yes your situation is the same as mine, they are expected to make up the time however when i suggested to my manager i have a break of 8 mins every hour to chat on my phone to my friends or go for a walk he went beserk how come they are different rules for smokers then anyone else. what if you had a drink problem and needed to go for a drink every hour at work ?2010 - Goals

I have a similar problem with a lady in my work who has serious body odour....seriously can she not smell how disgusting she isand then she sits in a windowless little room with a fan blowing her BO smell out at the rest of us!
I also have the same problem with my mother in law who chooses to wear very strong smelling perfume, I know when she's been in the house even if its 3hrs later and when my DD goes to her house she comes home stinking of it, even when I wash her clothes the smell still lingers.
Honestly I think all these smells should just be banned and people should stay in the confines of their own home 24/7.

Jealousy.
OP , you was a smoker , so shut up frankly. If you dont want to breathe it in outside move away from them.
I hate smoking but im not dumb enough to try and convert the whole world.
Or shall we deport em all to another island like many years ago that we did to criminals or just people we didnt like.0 -

I dont agree with you here the smokers in my work smoke outside away from everyone yet when they come back into the office they bring the vile smell in with them why should we have to put up with that ? I am sure the smokers would have something to say if i sat next to one of them breaking wind all day !2010 - Goals

I'm not trying to convert the whole world! If people like stinking thats up to them! I just don't like having to sit and smell second hand smoke all day!:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

This thread isn't about personal hygiene problems though  If there was a lady at work who had bad hygiene and there was a thread on that, i would post my complaints there. For people who haven't smoked, the smell of tobacco can be very overpowering.:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

I am quite sure that smokers do not realise how bad they smell. When I smoked I used to be fanatical about using mouthwash, chewing gum afterwards, sucking mints etc. That was just for the breath!;)
Smokers don't realise just how much it seeps into everything in their home. Furniture, curtains & carpets, clothes, even luggage & bags. I used to help in a charity shop and as you emptied a bag of donations you could always tell if it came from a smoking household. Even if it was top quality stuff, it stank. We were lucky in that we had a small courtyard at the back of the shop and we used to hang smoky clothes out there for a few days and also use a deodoriser spray on them. Believe me, if there was the slightest whiff of smoke we just could not put them in the shop because customers would complain. So sadly, a lot had to go in the rag bag.
Same with ornaments/mirrors/pictures .... all covered in a film of yellow grime. But they are easier to freshen up than fabric items.0 -

I hate the smell of cigarette smoke i remember as a child staying at my grand parents house who both chained smoked, when i went to bed at night they both smoked in bed - the smoke came under my bedroom door and formed a haze i remember it so vividly and I hated it so much. Their bed was right by the door which they kept open and my room was literally next door.2010 - Goals

smoking should be banned, full stop.
its harmful, addictive, anti social, costly.
people's better health would ease the strain on NHS care, boost productivity (mon smokers dont get 'smoke breaks'- why should you!?), less sickies, and more cash spare to spend, thus boosting the economy.
here endth the lesson.. and 2nd bar of righteous chocolate..:TLong time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..
Sometimes seen lurking on the compers forum :-)0
