but wouldn't o2 users get charged for using 08000490049 number? I am on O2 250 Xnet tariff.

and would you be charged for the text they send you?

NO you will not get charge to receive the text from CPW/02. You can dial the number I mention from landline, skype and public telephone for free.

    From the CPW site
O2 Terms • Inclusive minutes per standard tariffs : Standard UK landline numbers (includes 0870, 0800, 0845); Other UK mobiles, O2 mobiles; Voicemail retrieval and O2 WAP portal 915000 calls
But when you dial 08000490049 from your mobile, you get an automated response that the number will not be free from a mobile and to re-dial without the first zero. So does an 800 number incur a charge?!

do you mean the upgrade department?

O2 400 @ £8.50 each month with just 400 off peak munutes to just o2 and landline ins't really a good offer I think. Its quite a poor package. If those 400 minutes could be used to anyone, any network then we are talking business but this offer that you said was proposed by o2/CPW is nothing but just an attempt by them to retain a customer (via a bad appraoch/tactic).

I think if someone was really that interested in off minute package then there are 100s of deals out there that offer similiar price and with off minute, Xnet mins package deals.

Upgrades nearly always work out to be a expensive option. Best bit is to get a new contract from a dealer and your much better off as far as savings are concerned.
