I know how you feel I hate them!!!! My kids are the same, probably my fault?
We've had a few massive ones the last couple of nights - why at night? do they sleep during the day???
I can't go to bed if I see one, I can't sleep knowing its crawling about!!
I lost one of my dogs in June and he was the spider eaterwe just had to shout spider (in my case scream:rolleyes:) and he'd come running and scoff them! My other dog just plays with them _pale_ I also grab the hoover and suck the litte gits up with that!

I grab a pint glass and put that over. Leave overnight and they are dead in the morning.
My mum stays next to woods and they are everywhere. No one else in my family is scared, so hense the reason when they moved, I didnt bother.
I think its the knees that scare me and the way there legs move. Even just writing this, I am getting shivers up my spine.
Im off to Africa next month. God only knows that it will either cure me or kill me
You do realise, they are still alive when you hoover them up so could easily crawl back out the hoover.
We have one of those plug in things as we were getting really bad with ants and spiders and I can honestly say I think we have had 4 spiders since last year and no ants
Good luck with whatever you do
xx
OMG!!! I leave the hoover on for a bit when they are sucked up but I thought that was just me being overly cautious!!
Please tell me they are not still alive!! I have to empty the hoover!! And it's right by me now!!!
OMG! :eek::eek::eek:
Those plug in things look promising but they are expensive so I'm worried they are just a gimic. Glad they worked for you. Has anyone else used them?
Dead ones are every bit as bad as live ones for me - I hate it when you find a body in a drawer, or bottom of somewhere.
I realy shouldn't talk about this as I'm getting more blimming freaked out here! :rotfl:0 -

My OH is Sri Lankan and disposes of them as humanely as possible (it's against his relgion to purposely harm any living creature)
However he doesn't currently live with us and you can imagine my embarrassment recently when a spider was spotted by DS on the bathroom floor and before you could say glass and card my DS had fetched the hoover and DD had sucked the little critter up cheerfully announcing it's departure
I do try the glass and card method but if it's a really big one the hoover is my friend
This is gross now so I apologise in advance!
I had to 'wipe' myself in bedroom the other night (when my ex came over) as it was in the bathroom and I spotted it while on the loo, and the only thing I could think of was getting out of there asap! Trousers round my knees and I was gone!!! I had finished though, thank goodness!!:o:o

The one thing I couldnt do is the card under the glass. What if you never had a good hold of the card and it escaped??????? _pale_
I leave them into die, throw a tea towel over the top and wait til morning, then move the glass a tiny bit and if it moves then its still there for a few days or until someone can get rid.

OP - you're not going to like this but...you can't carry on like this. My mum was the same as you - used to call us to deal with them. So one day her BF put one down her back (sorry if this upsets you). It ran all over and then ran off her - and she was cured! Psychologists call it immersion or something. It's like ripping a band aid off - v painful but great when it's done.0

Some people are just so cruel
I'm sorry but you dont kill spiders, I either leave them to it, or if I think the cats or dogs are gonna get them, I just pick them up and put them outside, no glass needed, I reserve that for bees and wasps. My house is a haven for spiders, sorry.
Now if I was to see an earwig, well, I hate them and they get squashed

I went to draw the curtains last night and out of the corner of my eye noticed something black hanging in the air against the white skirting board behind the sofa.
 OMG, it was a HUGE Spid (big think black legs and a massive body) and it had caught another spid (imagine tiny body, long thin legs - the only ones I can handle) and was eating it. Well, they were both put out of their misery after I got OH to hit them with his shoe.
I know they are good because they kill flies but I hate the things! I am currently decluttering and nesting in prep for baby's arrival in 3 weeks and have just found a load of cobwebs in the conservatory so am dreading finding any spiders in there.
My dad had one of those plug ins things (we had mice) and there were def less spiders - my stepmum used to pick them up in her hands and throw them outside
I don't get them with the hoover anymore after hearing they live in the bag - I just whack 'em and then they die quickly and I don't have to worry about them!A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea
Where does the time go? :think:0 -

I am ashamed to admit this but I once threatened to smack my small nephew over the head with a chair because he was looking like he may do just that! It was only then my in laws realised just how afraid I am.
And I still get in a sweat thinking of one that dropped off the ceiling and landed on my back once, and another that ran up my arm.
I'm really not sure it would work for me and he'd have been injured without a doubt for doing it.
I'm not violent at all normally but, honestly, I will do anything to avoid them getting near me.0 -
