Went out to the chemist to get some castor oil, going to try the oil cleansing method and hopefully make my skin look nicer! Anyhow whilst I was there, there was 2 junkies getting their methadone, and one of them (the male) started looking at the baby things and (she) shouted over, WE ARENT BUYING ANYTHING YET ITS BAD LUCK, and then he started telling her to !!!!!! HE'LL DO WHAT HE LIKES....

Think we are missing the bigger picture here.....HELLO!

One of the chemist assistants was fawning over Keira, kept smiling at her, rubbing her face, rubbing her head etc. Keira looked a bit alarmed by it all, lmao. Just being friendly and obviously couldn't resist the little cutie standing their with her cuddly puppy.

Went to the park afterwards and SUPRISE it started raining. Shock....
  • Hi NMS

I do the same - there are some Department of Health guidelines on the preparation of formula, and this is what it recommends 'when it's not practical to make up one feed at a time'. I make up 3 in the morning, then 2 for the evening, then last thing at night I make the first feed one (for 6am). This way they are never more than about 8 hours old max. The guidelines are around somewhere.

Thanks dribblekitten. Yep, it's not practical when LO wakes up hungry, but the kettle was boiled over an hour ago cos LO slept through his 4pm feed and he is screaming cos he is hungry now, not in 1/2 an hour!!! :rotfl: At least this way he is screaming for 10 mins max :)

Seems like their is so many guidlines for formula and making up bottles.

    What I did was -

Sterilise them all, then I'd make up 6 feeds, wait until they cooled and put them in the fridge, that lasted until the next day, when I'd repeat. We had no ill effects, can't see why if it's properly made up and stored properly.

Hi. Finally popping over from the pregnancy thread.

We're making up formula bottles twice a day, boiling the water, mixing the formula up while the water is still hot, then keeping bottles in fridge until used, generally within 8-12 hours. I agree, the advice out there is varied.

Ambers two neighbours in special care were meth babies. Got their oralmeth before each feed and those poor wee things would wake up screaming and shaking! I never knew babies could shake but it looked like they were having fits and the way they cried... It was disgusting! And the mums sat there going on about how 'this wan wid'be different, I'll dae anyfing fur this wan'. Yeah... so what about the other 4 you have and the other 2 you have?:mad::mad: They both had severe diarhoeaa and infected nappy rash so had antibiotic creams and tons of other medication. If they cared so much why did they continue using when pregnant and make their babies addicts? Makes me so mad! Atleast the social workers were in every week, I doubt either baby is going home with mum....

Hi Triggles, how are you all getting on? How's little Connor? :)
  • Also not practical if someone accidentally puts the kettle on again because they fancy a cuppa! I knew my parents would do this when we went to visit (plus they have such hard water it clogs up everything) so they bought a spare kettle just for H's milk!

We saw two like that. One was taken away by social workers with a police escort and the other was being fostered(?) by the grandmother.. Made the nurses so mad, never mind us. The one who was taken by social workers had seven other brothers and sisters!!

All this hooha about making up formula now is the main reason I'm boobie feeding and making my own. With the boys you had to make up bottles of water, cool to room temp and add the powder when needed.
