is it against the law to cycle on the pavements11!????

maybe, but its nice to hear what happens in the later few years!!!

woaw, 7 girls with not wanting children is good going! hehe. bet u wudnt change them for the world though

mmm.....i wish i could, but i have been known to say it in my early twenty years. lol. once your the oldest, your always the oldest. my youngest little sister is 18, and i still look after her. sometimes i love it, sometimes "its not fair" - i guess its a girl thing!!!??

Yes, it's against the law to cycle on pavements. Never heard anyone arrested though.

I'll come back in a few years and tell you what I have forgotten :rotfl:

Wouldn't change them for anything. Their are times I'd like to loan them out, but it doesn't last long :rotfl:

Well, i'm the eldest sibling myself (2 brothers 2 sisters). I've never looked after the others though as we don't really get on. She gets on with it though to be fair and I think she thrives on it. Since their last mother left, she has taken on the role of parent in some ways.

Speak soon and have a nice day tomorrow everyone :D

oh there is no way I would have let someone else pick my pram/buggy :p
when you say buggy do you mean suitable from birth?
Assuming you do then I'd look at the maclaren range the more expensive models (xt I think) are suitable from birth, have a carry strap and fold one handed. The bugaboo bee is a small light pram (but design is a bit weird)
if you go on the mothercare website under prams there is a "help me choose" option which is quite good but I think you can't beat the knowledge of a good local independant pram shop.
Once you find one or two you like let us know or look on babyworld or netmums for reviews.
Hope that helps! Congrats on impending a Grandparent status, my parents absolutely love it :)

Wow you lot write a lot still I see!

We took Elliot to a mom and baby swim class which was run by surestart, this was early in the year when he was about 4/5 months old. He's loved water from day one :) Loves his baths/showers too.

We took him by ourselves last week, and they now seperate the shallow end from the deeper end, and only people with young children or people who cant swim are allowed in there. We couldn't use the baby pool, as they only use that for the surestart groups and paid lessons which is a shame.

People keep mentioning pushchairs, I've never been the type that's obsessed with them (some seem to buy new ones every few months). I'm only on my second one, 1st was the travel system and now a light weight pushchair. Don't plan on getting another untill I need to!

I think my nightmare neighbour must have been listening to my conversations, because shes now got herself a baby carrier and using the light pushchair for the other child (instead of blocking our corridor with a HUGE double pushchair!)

I've now got a new neighbour next door, who for once seems normal! :) He's actually introuduced himself and asked who I am etc and reminds me of my dad lol.

    I'll butt out now :)

    keely.

  • Morning everyone.

My quiet days with my easy baby are over. Finally she learned to roll back to front (about 2 months after all her baby friends) and now that's all she does, but can't get back all the time so I have to do it for her.
Looks like she's about to propel herself forward at any moment so I must get rid of all the wires etc on the floor.

Typically though the first time she did it was when I left the room and daddy came home. Daddy's girl!

    Morning All

I have made my decision (I think:think:) I am going to apply for a place at uni today.....if there are any places left. I have been faffing for that long the course is probably full now:o:rotfl: So lots to do, fill out app on ucas, phone the uni, then arrange childcare and finances:eek:

Anyway, just thought I would pop in and update you all with my pointless nonsense:D

Did the mums (carla & somebody:o) who changed teats for the TT CTN bottles find them any better:confused:

Amontylado - I know you say the parents-to-be are happy to let you choose the buggy/pushchair, but I would really recommend you at least find out what style they want. Travel system, pram, lightweight buggy, 3 wheeler, etc etc there are sooooo many choices now. Also you will need to consider what they will use it for most, do they have a car and how big is the boot, do they do a lot of long distance walking.
For example I don't like lightweight buggies from birth and don't like 3 wheelers pushchairs....I also don't like buying loads of different ones, so wanted to find one that would do all ages from a pram/pushchair/carseat....but I don't like the modern funny looking ones either.
Best bet would be get them to go with you at least once to a pram shop and rule out styles they don't like....it would at least save you buying something they won't use;)

Dribble - congrats on the roly baby:D

    Morning

Off to my parents today. My brother, SIL and niece are visiting. The little girl is three months younger than Charlotte, so they should play nice together.
Here I go again on my own....
  • Morning all

Keely - it must make a difference having a normal neighbour. Ours were up doing whatever they do in the middle of the night while we were up last night. They are always banging/drilling/moving things about. Not constantly, but it does seem to be most of the time that "he" is home. It doesn't bother me during the day, but they keep it up until quite late in the evening. They seem to be norcturnal too, so sometimes I can still hear him working when I get up to sort Izzy out. Not hammering or anything, but moving stuff about and (I assume) using an electric screwdriver or something. I always wonder what he is building, but I don't want to ask incase I have the wrong end of the stick and it isn't an electric screwdriver at all ;) Oh, and they are always having really loud rows too - one time they had a big row then it all went quiet, then later on they had another one about who was going to sleep on the sofa. I was very close to going upstairs and offering to sleep on the sofa myself if it would help them shut up and let me sleep!

We were meant to go see my cousin today, but I've had about 5 hours sleep, and don't feel up to the drive, so will have to postpone it. Not sure if the problem was teething or something else, but we were up for over 2 hours from 2:30, then woke up another 2 times after I got her settled. I ended up resorting to calpol, which did the trick. Hopefully we will get a good nap in after breakfast :)

    Morning all :)

well, after sleeping through from 8 1/2 weeks (don't shoot me!) we were up at 10, 11, 1.30, 3 5.30 and up for good at 6.10.

Surely this is something to do with imminent weaning?!

    Please?!
I've no intention of chasing their mothers for money as I don't want them in their lives and neither do they, but it's just made me think. Bizarre :o
Sorry for the waffle. I had to type it down to re-read what I was thinking :o

MOTM, If you were a woman in the same position I don't think anyone would think that recieving money from the absent parent necessitated an unsuitable absent parent having contact. I feel it should be the same in your case. A CS payment is not a ticket to 'see' a child. You have the same rights to both financial support, and to your girls being kept safe from unhealthy influences. Else it's sexist for us to believe that about women in your situation.

    Just my thoughts :)

    Hi everyone

I have stopped lurking to ask some advice.

My baby is 7 months now and for the past week has been extremley grumpy with teething. Does the grumpiness normally last this long (a week) I cant remember from my 1st as it was that long ago. When he cut his 1st 2 teeth he didnt complain at all but now he wont stop crying and I have tried everything. I just want my happy baby back :(

I'll go back to lurking now
