I forgot to say the thing that was the reason I came here...

I got all teary at a baby group this morning and felt a right idiot. They were talking about a 'toy swap' event that's just been planned, and someone asked me if I was bringing Aarons toys that he'd outgrown. He's 11 weeks and not having any spare money really (and very small rooms), we went down the route of not having many 'toys' as such. He has a bouncy chair with toys attached, 2 playmat/gyms that he still loves, a couple of rattley toys and activity bug type things, a curly toy on the car seat, and on his cot is a mobile and some dangly colourful toys on the sides to look at and reach for.

Anyway, I kind of stuttered an answer along the lines of I don't think he's got anything he doesn't still use and he doesn't have much anyway as he's only still very young, and then a couple of other mums with babies of similar age said theirs had loads of toys they don't use anymore, there's so much for them at that age that they had loads of toys, they can't believe Aaron doesn't have 'any' (that's not what I said, I didn't say what I did and didn't have). I felt awful that he should be having more things to play with and I've probably not got enough for him and suddenly got a bit teary and wandered off to compose myself. That's so not like me, but I felt my motherly skills were criticised. I don't think it's the cost for me, perhaps more that I didn't think they needed so much as they don't play with everything anyway, and what he does have seems to keep him amused and happy.

What sorts of things did/does your babies of similar age have? I was thinking of getting some more things anyway as he approaches 3 months, will probably scour ebay and car boots though. I tend to keep out of the baby shops as a way of not spending money that we don't have, so don't really see what's 'out there' for him, and wouldn't know what was 'good' if I saw it anyway - any recommendations for something that yours have loved at that age?

Squishy - about the time the baby "dropped", the bump seemed smaller to me - although it was actually lower, so my clothing suddenly fit much differently. Could it be that?
I'm not sure you'll copy me :p Edgar get bathed in a baby bath once a week (or more if he does a huge poop or is sick) Chris likes to help me bath him so we usually did it in the day.
Chris hops in with his dad as and when, between 3-7 times a week, OH always has a shower/bath when he gets home from work so we've always just chucked him in when he needed it but his hours are changing to a later finish as of next week so Chris will prob have a bath on his own and when Ed is bigger (and eating food therefore dirtier) I'll get him a seat so they can go in together, Chris is happy to run round in his towel poncho for a bit if/when I need to do them together :)

LOL. Everyone has a different schedule, I think. Liam hates the shower, wants only a bath (and DH hates baths, likes only the shower), so popping him in with DH is not an option. I would ideally like to have them in the same bathtub, but there's just enough of an age difference that I'm a little hesitant, as Liam loves to splash and I figure Connor will just feel like he's on Titanic as huge waves come crashing around him. :rotfl:Liam gets his bath right after teatime, about 5:30, then he is in bed by 6pm. If I do Connor's separate, I'll have to do it during Liam's nap, as Liam LOVES baths and gets rather indignant when someone else gets one and he doesn't. He'd take 6 baths a day if we'd let him. Silly kid. (I know - I should enjoy it - I'm sure THAT's a phase that won't last!) I suppose I'll have to do them separate until Connor is a bit older, maybe 6 months, and sitting up in a bath seat.

Honeypop - maybe I'm just a bad mum, because I honestly hadn't really thought much about toys for Connor yet. He's 5 wks and other than a few toys that dangle from a bar over his seat, he doesn't really have any. I will most likely look for a couple soon (now that you mention it LOL) but honestly at this age, I don't think they need a bunch of toys. A few simple things for visual stimulation and grasping play, but I wouldn't stress over it too much. Some people go out and buy tons and tons of things for their new babies, others (like us) tend to go minimalist and wait until they're a bit older to get them stuff.

It could be that - I have noticed that the drawstring trousers I'm living in just now need to be fastened a bit more tightly! I just thought I might have felt it more if she had dropped - not feeling a lot more pressure lower down or anything :)

honey we have hardly any toys for seth and he is almost 6 months old now, he has used his baby gym, bouncy chair and jumperoo to death instead really. he has a book, a monkey with rustly bits in, a rattle, a bunny thing with lots of bits hanging off and thats about it that he plays with day to day really, he doesnt need anything else IMO. he wouldnt use them! he sucks things a bit and then tosses them to the side after about 5 mins if that  i really wouldnt worry about it if i were you, i chose to spend more money on clothes and big toys than little toys :) of course now he is getting bigger he could do with some older baby type toys, but i'm going to hold out til xmas ;)

Mooki - if you're still here, what pumps do you have? Did you get the TT one for £40?

Yes I got the TT electric one for £40.00

I also have a rubbish hurty one from toys r us, the manual TT one and the medela mini electric.

Just used the TT one for the first time after feeding madam for an hour and managed to get 30ml from that breast. so will try again when my boobs have had a chance to recover from Leila's feeding frenzy!

Don't beat yourself up about it. For little babies the best toys are Mummy and Daddy :) At 12 weeks we had a baby gym and a few cuddlies and that was about it iirc. We did have a few other toys but nothing she was old enough to use. She spent a lot of time watching what mummy was doing instead of playing with toys. Much more fun :) We've pretty much only got hand-me-down toys, so we've only had to buy a few bits.

Had a nice time visiting nursery again this morning - Izzy didn't mind when I went off upstairs and wasn't at all interested when I came back down for her - too busy playing. Which is as it should be really! Back again tomorrow morning.

We went to mu Mums for lunch, but ended up having to come home reasonably early, as she twisted round in her high chair and caught her foot and I didn't realise till she was screaming. :o No idea how she did it, but I couldn't get her out without taking the table off the chair poor girl. She was so tired she wouldn't calm down afterwards so we came home. She had a little nap, but work up still tired, so now I'm trapped under a sleeping baby on the sofa. I'm busy doing a job application form though, so not the end of the world!

Question, if I want to add my own piccy for my avvy, it fails the upload and I'm assuming it's because of the pixels or similar. How do I do it please???

Have you got MS photo editor? It only takes a couple of minutes to crop the pic and then resize it.

Honeypop - we hardly had any toys at first. They don't really need a lot until they start getting more mobile and into things. When Charlotte was a tiny baby, the thing she liked looking at best was a nobbly wobbly which is a brightly coloured toy belonging to the dog!

We have a break through - I went to lift Dylans hand to massage his fingers out after his last feed, and before I even touched his hand, just lifted his arm, he opened them a little bit all by himself !! Not for long though, but its a start :D:D:D

But then when mummy was giving him huge cuddles for doing so well, he threw up all over my b00bies :o
Serves me right for bouncing him I guess, I just got over excited :p
Chris just laughed, and said to Dylan, 'even I havent put that much white stuff on mummies tits':rotfl:
Yeah, and you wont ever again if you say things like that buster
