    about the christening conversation.....
i live in N.iron aswell as MM, however, i am on the other side of religion...that would be of the protestant background. to be able to get your child christened (where i live anyway) you need to attend the chruch for at leaat 6-8 weeks before the christening takes place, and some ministers want to attend your home for a meeting, to get to know you and the child etc.

i havent got katie christened, or christopher yet obviously. OH wants it done, and im not fussed. Although i think it would be nice for them, OH or I dont go to church, and tbh, dont fancy going on a sunday just so that we could get the childen christened. Also, i think if we did that it would be hypocritical of us?? I dont want to get married in a church - for the same reason.

I was christened and was sent to sunday school - which i thoroughly enjoyed, and continued to go to church with friends and enjoyed going to a youth club run by the church at the weekends, right up until I was 15 even though my parents didnt go. I think I am going to do the same with my children - send them to sunday school when they come off age and let them make their own decision about getting christened/baptised !!!

Christening -I've always had a belief/faith which reasserted itself when I got my miracle.

DD and I have attended church regularly since she was 4 weeks old (I've even bf during a service sat in an out of the way pew). DD was baptised at 10 weeks old, that took some organising and wasn't easy post section.

DH comes with us when he can due to his shifts.

DH on late shift tonight due to finish at 11, he's got Welsh Rarebit, Poached Egg and Beans for his tea - the fridge emptying mission has begun.

Feelie - thanks for thinking of me in the mammoth post, I spent yesterday recovering from leading the Sunday School. Last night I met up with the other helpers/leaders to discuss the rota for the October to December.

  • carla, I'm a prod too, but Chris is Catholic, thats why mine is different :)
Our minister knows my mum goes all the time and we just changed the words slightly to say we would bring her up with christian values, not in a christian way, which both he and we were comfirtable with and no one noticed :)

.. i had bought LO a comfort type blanket thing but haven't really given it to her, so tonight i gave it to her while i was feeding her (knowing she would fall alseep ..ooooo) so she was cuddling it when she went to sleep so i put it in the crib with her. hopefully getting her to associate that blanket with sleep (okay i might be grabbbing at straws her but i am trying anything to get her to sleep through)

    :hello:

I'm going to try the same - I've ordered this - in the hope that we can create a "wind down" signal for Rhys. Staying up all evening (although that said, he's asleep now) and then sleeping all morning is all well and good but not when we want to start going to classes and things (really want to do baby signing - which is 6mths onwards, isn't it?) which happen in the mornings, so I thought we'd give it a bash.. In the last few days, he's started snuggling with a muslin and playing with it in his hands whilst falling asleep so we could be on to something..

    Evenin all :)

I haven't been christened, neither have Josh or Caitlyn. I'm not religious, and figure that if they want to get christened when they're older that's their choice.

I've just bought a rainforest take along swing from ebay. I'm hoping it will calm missy down a bit. I've barely been able to put her down all day and it's very draining :( Ive had a headache for the past few hours, ended up snapping at DH when he finally got back from work at 7.45 - 2 hours later than he said he was going to be. I took Josh to bed at 8.30 still with Caitlyn in my arms just after she'd been fed, came down and put her in the bouncy chair so I could wash the pots, where she promptly fell asleep! She never goes to sleep on her own, and if I try to put her down when she's gone to sleep she usually wakes up after a couple of minutes! She's still asleep in there now so I've done the pots, done DHs sandwiches for tomorrow, got DSs things ready for school, had a bath and now I'm on here. I know I should go to bed soon as I've got to get us all ready for the school run in the morning on my own for the first time. It's just lovely to sit in the peace and quiet, and be able to type with 2 hands!

I feel awful but I just don't get the time to come on here much and keep up with you all. I do try to read as far back as I can but my memory is like a seive so am just going to send hugs to you all!
