OH finds it a bit much to shop anywhere other than there now. Where ours is there is also a really nice bakers so thats why we go. Now the old woolies is gonna open as an Iceland plus there's also an M&S food place so we can basically sort our shop out from there with me nipping to Sainsburys when at work for nappies and the odd discounted bits like a nice duck crown for £1.99 instead of a fiver the other day!

    Woo hoo!

Baby's weird nappy contents are normal, although the doctor sent off her nappy for testing anyway. And she gained over half a pound this week.

Oh, and her hair's started curling where it isn't falling out. She has male pattern baldness above these fluffy little curls :rotfl:

Haven't caught up so I'm cheating and sending the appropriate kinds of hugs to anyone who wants them.

Jack and I are home again (he had to go back in on Saturday) - fortunatley his jaundice wasn't bad enough to need phototherapy and he is now feeding brillantly. I was cup feeding him but he takes a bottle so much better - can express a small amount from breasts but not enough for my little man!!

    time for some newbie questions

    changing

when it's just wet do u just change the nappy or use cotton wool like you do with a poo? This is what i'm doing now.

    sterilising

i have the TT CTN electric steriliser - I sterilise before each bottle (obviously) but say I'm going out and need to take a bootle. Do I sterilise bottle and take a carton of formula? or do I need to try and sterilise when out

    breast pump

anyone got the TT CTN manual pump?
tried to use it last night I can get the milk into the ribbed bit put it won't go thru the valve into the bottle. Not sure if it's because i can only manage to express 2 or 3 ml at a time or if I'm doing something wrong.

massive thanks to Sami, MM, Elle, NMS & Krystal - u r all angels :A

I think Rhys is about the same size how as Fergie was at birth :D He had a head circumference of 33.8cm two weeks ago (when last measured) and was 6lb 15.5oz last week so could be around the 7lb 4oz mark now :)
:T Rhys was bigger than Chris's birthweight at last weigh :j

Sugar - did the doc think it was pseudo-menstruation? (does he speak english?)

just sterilise the bottle as close to leaving as poss and put the lid on (I used to be 'naughty' and do all my bottle at night before bed ready for next day

I used to just sterilise at home, put lid on and then once out just add carton and not bother about resterilising while out... dont know what others think

I clean before putting a new nappy on every time and also put barrier cream on too, but I know not everyone does this

If you seal the bottle as soon as it is steralised it will last for up to 2 hours :)

I always clean the botty - wee or poo :) I'm a terrible mother though... I use wipes and not cottonwool - bad mummy!
I sterilise the bottles when I have enough to fill the steriliser - then I just assemble them and put the lid on and use when I need them. I do always make sure I only use boiled water (3/4 or 2/3 cold and the rest freshly boiled) - in an emergency I'll use bottled spring water but I prefer not to (had to do it a couple of times in emergencies when someone "accidently" chucked out mu cooled boiled water - he won't be doing that again in a hurry lol!)
pump... I never bothered with the manual pump... I have tendon issues anyway so I decided to get an electrical one. Best money I ever spent I think :)

ETA - I need to list the manual TT pump on Ebay I think :) It's never been used so might as well flog it...
Best do it before the Asda Baby event too lol

Jack and I are home again..

    Welcome home (again!) hun :D

Changing - I use a wipe everytime, and back when we were in hospital we used cotton wool and warm water everytime too. Just to add to / contrast what MM said, we only use cream when his bum looks red (rarely). We were told to use it as a cure, not preventative, but I guess everyone's different :)

Sterilising - Once the bottles are done, put them together with clean hands and teat tongs, then they'll be okay for a while.. not sure how long that while is tho - could be 6, could be 24hrs :o

TT CTN Pump - Give the valve a squeeze to make sure it's not stuck closed. It might just be the amount you're getting but keep at it and the more you try the more you could get :)

That's handy cos the returns policy will have run out by now ;):p

My little angel has gone off to sleep in his bouncy chair again.. Could get used to this :D (famous last words.. he'll probably wake up in ten mins!)
