Becles do you have tv in the bedrooms? I am thinking this has been a big mistake for us lot as it isolates people - sometimes I go outside and look up and there is a light in each window and a solitary soul in each room - it would be so nice to do more stuff together, thats the main reason I am trying to change things.
p.s. got to get breakfast going - will pop back later for a chat and thanks to you all for good ideas to start the day with.Life itself is the most wonderful fairy tale - Hans Christian Andersen2012 savings:remortgage £156.15pcm £5 pcm insurance reduced; 2012 Running totals: £10 goodwill requests/Grocery Coupons £12:T0 -
Morning folks...
I always give Aimee a knife... Sometimes she uses it, sometimes she just picks stuff up on her fork and chews around it... And she's still using fingers when she can get away with it too... I can't wait till we get a shed so I can have my dining room back!
I'm waiting for a spin and go zebra to finish on eBay... It's only down the road (not you selling it is it Mfd?) Hopefully I'll get it cheap and we'll put it up for christmas... Think that will be pretty much both of them sorted for christmas then... I can colour them both on the spreadsheet

They didn't have one until two years ago, when I had my daughter. We bought the eldest a high sleeper with a futon underneath and he's got a TV with a DVD player and playstation connected to it. That has time limits and it's not allowed to be played on after lights out. It's doesn't receive a live TV signal though. Although it's in his room, it's for both the boys to share and it's a place then can go when they have mates round. We did that as I didn't really fancy sitting on my sofa downstairs and breastfeeding my daughter with teenage boys oggling
We make a point of watching family films downstairs. We have Sky movies and I've got a subscription to a DVD rental and they're allowed to pick films. Here I go again on my own....0 -
Morning All.
Welcome to Hedgehog and Moneyspinner :T. I've not got time to catch up on all your drunken conversation last night, if you can remember, and it was important let me knowButtonmoons wrote: »The whole night tonight Keira kept going back and forth to the toilet, I did not know a child could produce so much poo! She must be about half a stone lighter, but I think it's really hit her now that pooping on the bog is the place to beeeeeee.
Do most 3 year olds know how to use a knife and fork? Because she doesnt really eat main meals we have never given her a knife, and don't actually have child sized onesShe can use a fork though!!
Am I a bad mummy for that? Im away to order her a peppa pig cutlery set that comes with a knife, let the peas pinging off the plate begin.
Night all!
Well done Keira!!! :j (You can tell her I said that again).
Knives and forks are something I worry about too. We don't eat at the table at home, and mostly eat things which you only use a fork for (pasta and rice). Mind you, she will eat at a table at nursery and at my Mum's. And seeing as we're not bringing her up to be vege, as she gets bigger, DH will probably end up cooking roasts for the pair of them over the weekends, and I will sort myself out. Not something I need to worry about now anyway. If anyone's awake a friend of mine's on the plinth bellydancing.
I'm enjoying this plinth thing. My friend was on there the other day talking about his love of Marillion. (He was originally going to spend an hour doing dad dancing to embarrass his sons!) He spoke to them and got a few tracks from their new album to play, but his PA system failed, so he ended up yelling, and playing the track so just the internet could hear it, then going to the pub with the marillion fans that had actually gone to watch, and playing it to them there!
Anyhow, must get on with cutting some bread for DH (he can't do it himself, bless!) and getting lunch sorted before we go out. We are going to the park this morning. Baby's first go on the swings!Isabella Molly born 14th January 2009

I'm back!!
although I rather wish I wasn't. Well I was back last night, but by the time I had caught up and Daniel had finally settled I was ready for bed myself.
Random fact: Apparently twice as many forks are sold as knives so there are a lot of people using forks only.
That'd be me then - think it has something to do with me being a leftie and always had problems at school using a knife so I don't bother (was made to eat right handed at school )
Hope everyone is ok and having a nice weekend ((hugs)) to those that need them xMummy to D born 21/04/09 and S born 09/05/120 -

Hugh arrived nearly 3 months ago now...and I'm just beginning to feel like I have time to post here rather than just read whilst I am feeding him! He was 2.5kg, went down to 2.3kg and now weighs 5.6kg (two weeks ago). The strange thing is that I have aleady forgotten how the weeks of feeding him every 2-3 hours felt like...now he feeds a lot during the day (usually every 1-2 hours) but then sleeps from 11-12ish until 6-7ish, which is sooo much better! :j And, he has finally decided that the bouncy chair is not an instrument of torture, but actually quite fun (in small doses!)...so Mummy can get on with stuff with both hands (sometimes!)
No doubt this will all change again, especially as we are about to have our long-awaited holiday...we are coming back to the UK from Belgium and taking Hugh on a grand tour of family and friends (getting his passport sorted was very high on the list of priorities once he was born!)
Anyway....I think I can hear the "Hugh waking up again" noises, so had better go and investigate...
I googled and Hugh is 12lb 5oz we don't understand new-fangled decimalised weights lol, Ed is a chunky monkey at 13lb 3oz.
Has Hugh started to laugh or roll yet? Ed's too lazy to roll but he's laughed about 5 times now - apparently Daddy pretending to sneeze is hilariousmrs_moneyspinner wrote: »Hi all, can I join you - my kids are coming up for 11 and 15, the youngest who has adhd/aspergers (mild) has small room no telly (removed due to hyper behaviour) oldest has big room, telly, laptop.
(but don't feel I'm trying to push you out! Do stay here too:))She did but only after OH agreed to sleep in her room. She said, "Daddy in the bed, Daddy sleep in that bed please."
We've always given Alice a knife and she loves to use cutlery but generally if she uses the knife, she uses it like a spoon so we still only giver the blunt baby ones. When I did teacher training, the teachers on my placements were always complaining that the reception children (so a year older than Keira) don't know how to use a knife and fork. Does she cut stuff up with her fork or do you cut it up for her? If she's already cutting things but with her knife, I wouldn't think it would take very long at all to learn and anyway a year is plenty time for her to get the hang if she starts having one now.
Random fact: Apparently twice as many forks are sold as knives so there are a lot of people using forks only.
Random fact 2: In the US (or at least in the Deep South) it is considered bad manners to use a knife unless you absolutely have to (like if you're eating steak).
I agree that it drives teachers/dinnerladies mad the amount of Children that come to school unable to use a knife and fork (and I hate hate hate people that don't hold their knife and fork correctly) Chris uses a knife but he just kinda stabs things with it at the moment.
How random with the fork facts! (although we sort of have more forks because we have some Splayds)
