button -- my nephew was the same!
He was scared to go to the toilet to do number twos -- it took a while for him to feel comfortable doing it on his own. the doctor described it to my sister as if it felt to him as if his bum was falling out, iyswim!? when he was used to wearing a nappy and him feeling it there??

  • BM - What I've found helped my DD was holding her hands, for some reason it gave her the confidence to go!

She mainly does it on her own but there are still occasions when she asks for her hands to be held.

I can remember when DD was first training she didn't like pooing into a potty or toilet, my theory it's the sensation of it coming away IYKWIM.

A reward chart helped my DD as well she got 1 star for a wee and 2 stars for a poo.

    Thanks.

I think she likes the comfort of a nappy as she can do it in private IYGWIM? Thing is, everytime she DOES it in a nappy her bum comes out in a red spotty rash, not sure if it's the nappies, or wipes or the poo, but there is no issue if she has wet her pullup during the night. That obviously needs worked on too but main focus is getting her doing number 2's, then we can work on being dry at night (though half the time her pullup is dry, it's all about how much liquid she has before bed tbh)

I will try the reward chart, I do have one, I just need the stickers for it.

    Mmmm, is it cadburys? :D

I sit in the toilet with her when she is trying to go, she doesn't like me to touch her though :( so I just sit and read storys until I go hoarse.

Morning everyone.....Happy Birthday for yesterday MDW.

Rose slept from 6.30 till 5.15 this morning. I fed her and she didnt want to go back to sleep. I cant blame her. If I could get her to stay up slightly later at night I would, and then hopefully she'd sleep a bit later but she's shattered by 6ish.

Can I just ask everyone at what age approx their LO's started to roll over or be able to push themselves up? Obviously not Rhys as he's some type of super hero but the rest of us mear mortals!! I have tummy time with Rose every morning and she doesnt seem to like it much. She gets a bit distressed after a little while and also doesnt show any interest in trying to roll over yet x

glam are you still lurking? I need to tell you some cool research on the nipple stimulation thing! Have you read Kaz cooke's book? she says only do one side at a time or it can cause foetal distress:eek:, and that it's most effective with a warm damp flannel, 3 times daily for 10-15 mins. :)

Just to see how big he needed to be to fit in his walker, we put him in it for a minute.. Looks like his legs need to be twice as long as they are now! :o
Although as he gets heavier, he'll probably stretch it so he's lower.

I think spag bol was the first meal I made when OH n I moved in together, I taught BIL how to make it too, I hope it impresses his new house mates at uni :D
I had OH make spaghetti bolognaise (under my direction) when I was pregnant and my family were visiting. My mum asked me how we made it as she's only ever done it from a jar.
OK, am not sure if this would work or not, am just thinking out loud more than anything else, and want some opinions
If I was to roll up a cotton wool pad into a little tube shape and use surgical tape and attach it to Dylans palms when he is sleeping to force his fingers open a little bit, would that seem like
    A) a stupid pointless idea
    B) slightly cruel
    C) an ingenious idea that you all wish you had thought of first :)

Weetabix - DD wouldn't entertain it for ages but now it's one of her favourites, I'm being a naughty mummy at the moment as she is having Coco Pops - DD lobbed them in the shopping trolley and I felt it would be mean to take them out again as she looked so proud of herself.
I must be mean then. :p Although Alice generally wants the dog food because it has pictures of dogs on the front (or else just throws random things into the basket) and she's mad about dogs. She actually kisses packets of dog food goodbye because of the dogs on them.

    Hi Angela

My daughter is 6 months tomorrow and only just perfected rolling 2 weeks ago - lots of her friends were rolling round the room and she just stayed on her back. She also hated tummy time until about 6 weeks ago. She did in fact roll a few times from front to back in the past, because she hated being on her front so much, but now there's no stopping her and luckily we have a play mat with ridges otherwise she'd roll around the room until she hit something!

Hope everyone else here is well, I've been on hols last week and off to work today before starting weaning properly tomorrow. Have given a few bits of my food before now (banana, lettuce, melon) and we think she actually swallowed some mashed potatoes yesterday so looking forward to this new stage (but not the mess).

I think thats the thing with reading on here how well other babies are doing, you obviously start to compare your own. I'm sure Rose is completely normal for her age but just wondered if i should be perservering a bit longer with her x

That's cute with the dog food.

We had a full blown tantrum in Morrisons the other day because I wouldn't buy any chocolate buttons. I only calmed her down by letting her hold the cheese for a while, but then she wanted to swop it for the grapes. I let her hold the bag but didn't realise she'd torn a hole in it and she'd been sneakily eating them :o Had to keep a close eye and tell her not to eat them until we'd paid for them. Then she didn't want to give them to the lady at the till in case the lady didn't give them back. The lady was ill laughing, but I was a bit :o
Here I go again on my own....
