  • I started to catch up but Boo is on to the song already so I don't have much time  :D

Weezl - I was thinking about you when Benjamin woke me up at 5.30am. Benjamin is very early with his mobility but Fergie has early teeth and slept through from a very early age. As adults we all excel at different things and don't think about it...it's just as kids we compare them so much.

I met a little boy yesterday who is 10 days younger than Benjamin who is also crawling (and probably better than Benjamin is...she adds grudgingly :o)

All our babies are very different and I hope that they always remain so :D

I may be speaking out of turn but when I used cold water sterilisers I was never too exact on the water... to me 2 litres would be fine with half a tablet , trust me Milton tablets are hard to cut exactly in half anyway (guess you cant use the liquid milton instead?)

Thanks Maz - was hoping you would sat that!!
I could buy liquid...but heavier and more difficult to transport.
Any other thoughts? Feely - you use CWS don't you?

As you know we had probs with LO sleeping as well. However, she now sleeps the whole night and will take day time naps BUT, she can't fall asleep by herself. I generally hold her and she snuggles in until she's comfortable and drifts of while I pat her or stroke her hair. During the day I pop her in my bed and rub her back until she drifts off. It doesn't normally take long now we have perfected it. However, I'm not bothered about her settling herself anymore - as I see it her going to sleep at all without having to be nursed or screaming matches for hours is better. There is no rule saying that babies have to be put down awake. They are still veyr little after all. So long as you find somthing that works for your LO, then don't worry to much.

Our first ryhmetime after the holidays is today too - but DH is working away so I don't have the car....and I'm housebound as I'm STILL waiting on this passport :o

Check out how relaxed you sound about sleeping!!! I am convinced it is all about relaxing - the second I am 'trying' to get Benjamin to sleep is when I have absolutely no hope of doing so!

Have you checked on the passport office website?
I didn't have to sign for Benjamins.

Angela, I'm sorry if I've come across wrong.. When I'm saying "Rhys can do X, Y and Z", I don't at all mean it in a "comparison" kind of way. It's purely a "look at this, the doctors said he'd never do it, please all share in my happiness" kind of way :o

Speaking of which, we have the brain scan this afternoon and I'm bricking it.. Aside from the brain damage, if the fluid hasn't gone it may mean surgery to drain it.. _pale_

Nobody thinks that - I think you read Angelas post a bit defensively!! She meant that Rhys is fantastic!! We all think so.

What time is the scan? I will be sending you all my bestest vibes.

If it helps anyone, the only reason Rhys has worked out how to roll is through sheer frustration and determination. The physios said he has to have tummy time, so that's what we have to do - regardless of the amount of crying he does. We can tell (and they agree) it's not upset "I don't want to be here" crying, it's frustration "I want to be over there" crying so we leave him on his tummy for about twenty minutes at a time - don't (mustn't) pick him up before then and just let him get on with it

Rmac - did you see these ones?

We got the 5 pair box - they're so cute, and a bit bigger than the trumpettes.

I've got a 5 litre tub, but don't fill it completely, otherwise water goes everywhere when I stick my hand in to get the silly valves that hide at the bottom. I'd say I probably use one tablet for 4.5 litres. If I were you, I'd break a tablet in half, discard the powder and little chunks, and use the two big chunks. Does that make sense?

We have a 5ltr tub and a 2.3ltr tube for the small bits. I do like Feelie says, use the two big chunks in the little one, so one tablet lasts two days.

Thankyou. I know I probably did, but it's something that's been bugging me for a while and I don't want to come across as tactless (or at least I wanted to apologise if I have been doing).. :o Scan is at 1355 (odd time!).
  • I remember MFD saying her LO lifted her top up once, and that was ages ago. Toby doesn't do that!

...and now he grabs my nipple and pulls it towards him

I don't get cuddles like you get though :(

How daft is it that sometimes you need someone else to tell you the simplest of things!!! Thanks chick!

According to the doctors, Rhys should be a vegetable, spending his future in a wheelchair, being tube fed and not getting a scrap of enjoyment out of life.. My telling everyone how well he is doing partially a thankyou to everyone for keeping me going and keeping me strong enough to be able to encourage him to do these things, and just believe that one day he might do them.

You are never going to find a baby who went through what he did - born lifeless at 31weeks, only coming round after 24minutes and suffering the amount of brain damage he did. In addition, the acidoses (sp?) in his blood almost killed him and there are still a lot of things which may bring the end a lot closer than 80-90 years.. On that basis, I'm just amazed at whatever he can do, regardless of when he can do it :o

Speaking of which, we have the brain scan this afternoon and I'm bricking it.. Aside from the brain damage, if the fluid hasn't gone it may mean surgery to drain it.. _pale_

Oh no please dont take my post wrong....I never ever meant it to sound like that. Im absolutely amazed by him and love to hear about what he's getting up to.

I was just wanting some comparisons of other babies. I only called him super human as he is doing so well.

I hope I havent upset you and good luck for this afternoon x

3 - try looking for recipies with melted butter, I'm sure you could just swap that for oil but not sure how you know how much to use ....

I agree with feelinggood - Thinking about it when we went to Disneyland Paris last year I didnt even take my big tub and just used a lunchbox, I just kinda made the tablets into ¼'s and added the water to them......

I cried this morning after reading a birth story on the BS thread, does everyone keep up with it or is that just me?
