Hi girls (and gents
) I just wondered if any of you felt completely baffled about names when preg, and did one just eventually 'come to you'??
Don't know whether that's any use at all or whether it just makes me look like a complete weirdo.Any question, comment or opinion is not intended to be criticism of anyone else.2 Samuel 12:23 Romans 8:28 Psalm 30:5

i really like this one http://www.toysrus.co.uk/Babies-R-Us/Toys/Bouncers-and-Rockers/Bright-Starts-Backyard-Buddies-Bouncing-Cradle(0032040)
i had looked at it yesterday. i know asda are having a baby event in 2 weeks so i am very tempted to wait till then and see if they have any in my local store. have looked on the asda website but they dont have this one... just ordinary one with no toys. which i suppose does for the first couole of weeks. or at least till my sis comes over who is actually buying the bouncer.
I have the one from asda and opened it last night, it's great. She sits in it really well, no falling to the side and what not, so if that one is the same shape, then it will be perfect. It was from asda, £15 in the asda event and has been a regular on the event at that price. I'm going to buy her a nice toy arch rather than a new seat though.0 -
I found a website with a huge list of names and copied them all into a spreadsheet. I then deleted all the ones which we'd never heard of or were way out spellings or were too unusual (e.g. there were lots of female versions of male names which presumably were used in the past such as Thomasina). For girls this whittled it down from about 4000 to 400. OH and I then each took the list and rated each name as either 1 (actively like this name), 2 (wouldn't choose but would accept this name/have it as a middle but not first name) and 3 (absolutely don't want this name). We then eliminated the ones either of us had put as a 3 which narrowed it down to 50. We then re-rated those 50 and kept those where our ratings added up to 4. We then had 30 names so I looked up all the meanings and marked which names were form the Bible (because we wanted to have at least one name from the Bible). I then wrote out all the possible combinations of names (which wasn't as many as 30*30 because not all of them were Bible names) but eliminating any which sounded silly when I said them. I also looked at the three letter words list in our Scrabble dictionary to see if the initials would make a word either with our name or with a different surname if she got married. (Alice could end up with ALE but we figure that it isn't a bad enough word to be bothered about by the time she gets married.) I think we ended up with about 30 possible name combinations in the end but about twelve possible first names. We then debated for a while and since I really wanted the name Lydia but OH didn't want it as a first name, we went for Alice Lydia as Alice was the name we liked the best out of the ones with Lydia as a middle name.
Don't know whether that's any use at all or whether it just makes me look like a complete weirdo.
Wow! I hope she apreciates how much thought went into her nameIsabella Molly born 14th January 2009

I am having a girl and i have realised there is no girl's name on this earth that i like for my baby!! Lol! My mother says one will jump out at me nearer the time and not to worry, but i said i think i'll end up just lumping for one in the end whether i like it or not cos it'll be too late!
DH picked Ambers name when she was 6 days old and at that it was only after 6 days of bullying. We just couldn't agree on a name or think of any that we liked. As it is she is only Amber because we were sitting on my hospital bed on the patientline line internet looking at names on a website and I said 'Amber' and he said 'well she is amber coloured with the jaundice....' It stuck :rotfl:0 -
question: should we take LO's car seat abroad to use in a hire car?
taking it -
Pros: we know how to fit it, we know it's not been in an accident
cons: costs to take it on the flight, might get lost/damaged
hiring one -
Pros: don't have to transport ours, no chance of it getting lost
Cons:might not be one we are familiar with re: fitting, don't know it's history, costs money, might not be 100% clean or at least cleanish!
opinions please?!
normally car seats are free to take on a flight so that would be a big pro- just back from spain with easyjet and buggies, travel cots and carseats do not count against your luggage quota although this is sometimes hard to confirm on their website. good luck enjoy the hols0 -

OH had decided on Ferguson and I decided that this was better as a middle name so went through books looking to see which one fitted best.
I remember a while ago a discussion re places to get reasonably priced muslins.... apart from Asda event coming up any other suggestions please...Mum to 2 lovely boys who keep me busy.0 -

However if the airline will only allow the carseat onboard in the hold then it's a HUGE no no! You might as well put it through a 60mph car crash...
Unless the airline allows you to take it in the cabin with you then DON'T take it on the plane!DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

prob a daft question but.... if i buy a bouncer with no toy bar will any toy bar that you can buy (like for a pushchair) fit on?
i only want bouncer so baby is not in moses basket all day
i like the look of the asda one too but just a bit worrie bout lack of toys although as i want to get a gym/play mat as well i suppose it wouldnt be too much of a problem.
is this the asda one you have tia? http://direct.asda.com/Bright-Starts-Contour-Bouncer/002652771,default,pd.html'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0 -

Susan - I love your name method! Very scientific
We decided on Edgar before we'd decided to start trying, its the name of someone tv that we like and Hubby said he thought it was a good name if we had a boy when #2 came and I agreed, the middle name was a battle though he ended up with Samuel which was actually my 4th choice but the only one that was in both our top 5
The girls names I picked because I was fed up of hubby saying no to everything so I picked 3 and said if its a girl he could pick which out of those 3 and if he didn't like it tough
Maz I got my last lot of muslins off ebay, They're zorbit as I had some zorbit ones from when Chris was little but I'm not as impressed with them as the older ones. MFD swears by bambino mio ones, she got her's from kiddicare, tesco are cheap but also crap in many of our opions0
