ooh not every airline allows car seats.

    as an example....
aer lingus- allow a car seat, has to be front facing and you pay for the seat you are using. baby needs to be in your arms for take -off/landing

ryanair- dont allow car seats at all, you cant even buy a seat if they are under 2 but nearly 2 (iykwim)

    ^ ^ ^
i checked this out for when we fly to dublin with baby

thomas cook airlines- don't allow car seats as for take off/landing as baby is to be in your arms, the car seat nust be put in the overhead lockers (they wont fit)
    ^ ^ ^
i work for thomas cook and rang for a customer.

ring or at least check on line for whichever airline you are flying with

ooh thanks Jillie one of my jobs to do was check if we can take the seat with us on thomas cook, so if I have a seat that would go in the locker/under the seat I could take it?
We have an old one that I think would fit, surely an old seat is better than having babe in my arms on a coach

prob a daft question but.... if i buy a bouncer with no toy bar will any toy bar that you can buy (like for a pushchair) fit on?

i only want bouncer so baby is not in moses basket all day

i like the look of the asda one too but just a bit worrie bout lack of toys although as i want to get a gym/play mat as well i suppose it wouldnt be too much of a problem.

is this the asda one you have tia? http://direct.asda.com/Bright-Starts-Contour-Bouncer/002652771,default,pd.html

Yup :D Don't think a toy bar will go on it though, it has plastic bits that the poles go in. But a regular toy arch that sits on the floor will sit over it, thats what I did with the boys and what I'm going to do this time.

ETA, actually I'm going to try the toy arch off the other seat.

    I use a toy arch.

I've got a dining chair with thin spindles on the back, and hanging a toy from them makes it the perfect height.

Tobes was weighed today, 20lb 4oz.

He is above the weight for his bouncer, but I'm not comfortable leaving him sat on his own for too long. What options do I have for places to put him? He gets fed up of being on his belly all the time.

Maz I got my last lot of muslins off ebay, They're zorbit as I had some zorbit ones from when Chris was little but I'm not as impressed with them as the older ones. MFD swears by bambino mio ones, she got her's from kiddicare, tesco are cheap but also crap in many of our opions

Now thats weird because I have Tesco ones for Henry that were on sale at the time which he uses alot of the time ie to go to sleep with etc and I find them ok... they wash really well..
Mum to 2 lovely boys who keep me busy.

thats what i thought. tia you are a star. :T
i'm gonna get that bouncer and get my sister to get the paymat/gym with a good toy bar and that will do. baby will be at most 6 weeks when she visits so plenty of time to sort playmat/ toy arch thing

I think it's a bit strong to say never take a car-seat except in the cabin - we took ours through a long-haul flight just fine, we just packed it in its original crate all padded out and taped up securely. It's obviously something to be careful about though.

I think all airlines require the baby to be in lap for takeoff/landing. With BA and Virgin at least, the fold-out space for the airline bassinet can in theory be used with smaller car-seats, but I think they'd have to be really light-weight to be practical, probably better to have it stowed somewhere.

Hi girls (and gents :D) I just wondered if any of you felt completely baffled about names when preg, and did one just eventually 'come to you'??

I am having a girl and i have realised there is no girl's name on this earth that i like for my baby!! Lol! My mother says one will jump out at me nearer the time and not to worry, but i said i think i'll end up just lumping for one in the end whether i like it or not cos it'll be too late!

I was able to think of atleast 3 or 4 boys names but we found out we were having a girl. Both hubby and I had agreed many years ago that if we had a girl she would be Abigail so I didnt really think much more about it. Then my mum had a new puppy and said she liked the name Leila for the dog. Only when she said that did I even contemplate the name. So the puppy got called Bessy just in case I changed my mind. Its a good job I stopped her as of course Leila is the name we went for.

She didnt have a name for a couple of days as I was so tired I didnt want to make the wrong decision in that state!

I tried calling her Abigail but I just thought it was too many syllables for such a small thing!

Leila means night, and the first thing I said when she was born after a labour that started at about 7pm and ended at 9:22am was 'where did the night go'. It also means dark beauty which as a mixed race child, we hope she will be.

So in a nut shell, I'm glad we waited till she was here to finally name her and now I couldnt imagine her being called anything else! xx
Proud Mummy to Leila aged 1 whole year:j

    Now that is MSE :money:

Is he sitting on his own?

All I can find are those rockers that turn into toddler seats, but I'd guess he is too young for the toddler chair, but would probably still be fine in teh rocker if it's a sturdier chair.
