Hello, just popped on as I haven't been on in a while. I haven't been online in general recently, as I don't feel like I fit it anywhere anymore. If it wasn't for Elliot, I'd have nothing to talk about. Generally feeling quite down, and alone. Being a mom isn't all fun and games for me sadly.

I'm sorry you feel like that Kellykat. We are always here and we always want to hear from you! Would it help to talk about how you feel? Have you spoken to your HV or your Doctor? Are you getting out to Baby & Toddler groups? How long have you been feeling like this?

As you can see, although we do talk about some very important things, we also talk a right load of rubbish. I'm sure you can come up with some rubbish to talk about! I know how you feel though, some days I'll type a dozen messages, just to delete them, feeling like I have nothing to say.

  • Oh Keely - you fit here :) I'm sure you fit other places as well, but maybe you have to go out and find them? Can you leave Daddy in charge once a week/month/whatever, and go do something for yourself?

Finally got an e-mail from Bizzie Babies this morning about the travel highchair thingamy. I was starting to think that maybe it was a competition win after all, but no, it was them! The e-mail said i would receive it "in 2-3 weeks. I replied to say I've had it about 3 weeks, and yes, I'm ready to fill out a questionnaire. I want to fill it out and send it back, then hopefuly I will get something new to try out soon. I found out that the portable high chair thing is going for about £7 in wilkies, so even if they don't send me anything else, my £5 has paid for itsself already :)

    Morning all..

Rhys was wide awake at half one this morning. Like really wide awake, been-on-the-E-numbers bouncy! Probably overtired.. :( Getting increasingly desperate to get our bedroom back so he can sleep in the dark and quiet.

Am getting worried about OH too. He was offered the job as his boss' deputy about 18 months ago but turned it down on account of the money not being high enough to compensate for missing out on any chance of getting a lower rank but higher paid (shift) job in their dept in the future. Now he's got a new boss who seems to now be back on the "I want a deputy" thing, and is basically turning OH into that. With it, OH has now got another course to do in his own time. He's mega excited as it's something he's wanted to do for years (but the company wouldn't pay for) but it means a few hours a night of homework, plus he's bringing work home from the office anyway, plus obviously wanting to spend time with Rhys. Don't want him to burn himself out.. My dad was the same when I was little and I didn't have a good relationship with him when I was lving at home.

I suppose we just need to get Rhys into a routine of going to bed at a set time then OH can spend time with him then get on with his work. It's just that putting him to bed at 7pm seems like a waste - like we're missing out on time we could spend with him! :o I know I'm probably making a rod for my own, but while he wants to sleep in the day and be awake in the evening when OH is here, I'm happy to go with it..

Sorry, just rambling now.. Rhys is having a nap in the swing now (covered with a giraffe print fleecy blanket - so cool!), still seems to like it :) Suppose I'd better get on with some jobs round the house..

ETA: Sorry, added this without any explanation - "Life may not be the dance you've planned, but hey let's dance anyway". It was the motto on the fridge of someone on telly a minute ago. I thought it was a good one to live by.. Like Tia's Holland story, if anyone remembers the one I mean (about things not being how you planned.. :o).

elle - bathtime is daddy time in our house. He gets home about 6.45pm most of the time and does 1/2 hr play then bathtime followed by bed. He also does mornings on a saturday ;) the trick is to find a routine that suits you as a family. So what if it isn't the norm or convention but that's just my opinion. It's so nice to see how LO's face lights up when he walks through the door - i sometimes wish she'd look at me like that sometimes!!!

Elle, I hope you can find a balance, and I hope OH will be okay. I can sympathise, my Dad had a breakdown due to overwork, and I have a feeling that is what happened to OH. The company he works for is Korean, and they have a very odd work ethic. He has stopped working so much now, but the damage has been done :(
