Wasn't me, but it is something I'll need. In a rented house, and don't think I can get away with screwing a stair gate in. Will be nice when we settle one day and I can do lots of DIY (well, get my Dad to do lots of DIY).

Toby has woken up, and is looking at me. No crying and he hasn't asked to be picked up, which is odd as he hasn't eaten since 9am.

Question, when do babies grow out of crying when other babies cry? I had to wait in a different room at the Doctors as another baby kept setting Toby off, and then he set her off!

Hello, just popped on as I haven't been on in a while. I haven't been online in general recently, as I don't feel like I fit it anywhere anymore. If it wasn't for Elliot, I'd have nothing to talk about. Generally feeling quite down, and alone. Being a mom isn't all fun and games for me sadly.

Come and chat with us - being a mum can definitely be a lonely job, but we are all here to support each other, give advice, listen to rants etc......You will fit in alright here:D

I suppose we just need to get Rhys into a routine of going to bed at a set time then OH can spend time with him then get on with his work. It's just that putting him to bed at 7pm seems like a waste - like we're missing out on time we could spend with him! :o I know I'm probably making a rod for my own, but while he wants to sleep in the day and be awake in the evening when OH is here, I'm happy to go with it..

ETA: Sorry, added this without any explanation - "Life may not be the dance you've planned, but hey let's dance anyway". It was the motto on the fridge of someone on telly a minute ago. I thought it was a good one to live by.. Like Tia's Holland story, if anyone remembers the one I mean (about things not being how you planned.. :o).

    I like that motto:D

I can't really comment too much on the bedtime thing, at the end of the day if it suits you then go with it. I would say though, that quality of time spent with Rhys will matter just as much as quantity. Maybe go for a middle ground time of say 8/8.30pm and make sure youe OH does nothing but spend time with Rhys for most of that time, then you will still have time for 'couple time' AND he will get time to do his course:) We have similar but different problems, it is such a juggling act and the more balls the harder it gets:p

.. some days I'll type a dozen messages, just to delete them, feeling like I have nothing to say.

You have heaps to contribute Feely!! I couldn't have held on to the thought of eventually BF if it wasn't for you telling us your experience.
I don't like jabs :( Toby cried, and is now totally zonked out. No more till 1 year, yay! Also got a well done from the Nurse for exclusive breastfeeding. I reached my goal!

    Thankyou :)

And the talk of balls has reminded me.. Apparently OH's nephew wants plastic balls for his birthday - the type you get in a ballpit, soft play area thing. Any recommendations for when we get them from? Are they all much the same or are some better than others? The more robust the better as he's not exactly dainty - he'll be 4 in October and he's already the size of a six year old!

Husband, in a fit of lunacy, bought a rake of these from Tesco while I was still pregnant. About 400 of them. And a ball pond. I kept telling him we were planning on having a newborn but he wasn't listening.

Also, I wish to announce that I am wearing a pair of prematernity pants. I have a muffin top like you wouldn't believe, but they're fastened and staying fastened so I don't care.

    Great quote :T
