Wol's Riverbank tales: Part 3 Restoration

Hi All
Sorry to be gone so long and don;t worry George I'm not in a huff with anyone. I've had a bit of a duvet time/alcoholic week trying to come to terms with the building work and all it represents
Well it's been (as usual) very eventful chez Wol. Friday we had a big bonfire and burnt all my confidential waste :T. The build shedule has been finalised saturday afternoon followed by a very boozy dinner on saturday night with Numpty, the builders and a (flirty but married) neighbour who had the same rogue builders as me but not nearly so much trouble with them. Finally kicked the neighbour out at 4am :eek:and then Numpty decided to take on more of the local wildlife by breaking up a fight between 3 badgers and a fox outside the front door an hour later (and lost his slipper in the process):rotfl::rotfl:
-On sunday totty builders removed one of the dining room oak floorboards and we now know what is wrong with the floors - they're not actually fixed to the concrete properly and are in fact "floating".:mad::mad:...but totty builders say that providing the concrete is level, it's fixable and won;t bust the budget.:)
So I was feeling far more optimistic on monday as I shook hands on a deal with a client that will give me a whole year's work this year :T) until I got up to leave the meeting.......my foot had gone dead and i crashed over on my ankle with a resounding crunch
Numpty and I therefore spent most of monday evening in Minor Injuriesand I am now on crutches with a badly sprained ankle
- (luckily no broken bones) but just what you don;t need when the builders are imminent . Thank goodness I did this while Numpty is here :T:T. It hasn;t stopped me driving and after hobbling around yesterday getting wallpaper/tiles/kitchen units etc I am now slightly more mobile today and Sir Numpty is not having to carry everything (including my handbag which I think he was quite getting to like
)
Numpty has had his second visit to the chiropracter yesterday to put him back together after moving the furniture at the weekend :rotfl::rotfl:
Ginger piggie has developed some very large alarming lumps and went to the special vulture vet today. Unfortunately it looks like he is showing signs of the lymphoma with a vengeance (that's Ginger, not the vet) - he's in for an op next tuesday to biopsy the lumps and possibly remove some.... but it;s not looking like good news. At least however we will have a definitive diagnosis and can now make a decision about starting the cancer treatment I found out about in the US
Family member has been given the all clear yesterday :j:T....no more cancer, they got it all - just a bit of radiotherapy to go
This afternoon I have to reply to the Ombudsman, write the proposal for the lcient to be submittd to thier board meeting for approval and start packing away the kitchen. Numpty is carefully taking up the carpet in the hall/stairs/landing as I write. This evening, it being his last night, we are going up to the village for a slap up steak dinner
Right best get on writing that letter to the OMbudsman - so far the insurance company have apparently now agreed to reimburse me for £50.23 cost of putting the pgigies into emergency accomodation the weekend of the flood - so only another £69,949.77 to go..:rotfl::rotfl:..this really is going to be baby steps :rotfl::rotfl:
As tuesday 4th May gets closer, and I have now committed myself to the building works (no matter what the outcome with the OMbudsman) , I am starting to look at the light at the end of the tunnel. I will be so SO happy when my house is properly restored.

Good grief, Wol, is there ever going to be a quiet week for you? Here's hoping ...2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Just to echo all that Karmacat said above.
And to say be careful with your ankle - make sure you let it heal before getting back into full whirlwind mode.
And I'm very intrigued by the badger/fox fight - I don't suppose you have CCTV and caught Numpty's efforts? :rotfl:
Also excellent news about family member :T.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -

But we want to hear about the rest of that "intervention" too :T2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Numpty - you should have left them to fight instead of intervening, the fox would have had his comeuppance from the three badgers. Badgers have a very nasty bite and do fight especially when cornered.
Wol - well done on the new client, shucks for your ankle (try drinking less anaesthetic and have more water instead that way you won't fall over), good luck with the house. Is your house going to appear on rogue traders along with your neighbour's?
It's 12 months to the day since I started working for myself:eek:0 -
Ouch! I hope your ankle heals quickly and without any more pain! Sorry to hear about Ginger piggie too...
Good luck with the renovations. You will feel fab once it is all sorted... :T Congrats on the new client too!Numpty_Monkey wrote: »everything is ok ........I found my slipper:DMortgage free as of 12/08/20!

Bad luck about the sore ankle, Wol, just take it easy and let it heal before you start doing your blue tail fly stuff. Glad to hear His Numptship was making himself useful about the place, and that the errant slipper has been found, even if it was covered in badger doo doos. Full steam ahead with the renovations - a new year, a new house and a new Wol!One life - your life - live it!0

So Wol ends up flat on her back when Sir Numpty just happens to be there?
Any conspiracy theorists in the house?
Is this the TV builders that are in, or just your personal totty?
Glad you're not hurt too bad and i've got my fingers crossed for Ginger. Good news about your relative too. Just another quiet week, eh Wol?After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91
