Wol's Riverbank tales: Part 3 Restoration

Wol...sounds like that book may be working for you as you are already drinking less.Going to the band sounds like a good idea as well.Hope you've had a good day today.
Hi Taxi - yep....it's made a big difference as although I have wibbled every night this last week, I have taken a step back and said "why do I want to drink, what has caused the wibble...what other way can I deal with the wibble"...just identifying the wibble, what prompted it and thinking about it from the new "fabulous lovable me" perpective is usually enough incentive to not go out and buy a bottle.
I have cigs to do too - but that will be next year - there is only so much change we can effect in ourselves at any one time. Your debt busting is going great and maybe you could feed in one of your other goals - either the weight or the cigs...but perhaps not both at once
NB
It's really difficult to chuck the cigs and NOT put on weight - last time I gave up I started again 8 months later. Even though i was going to the gym four times a week, and eating only one meal a day, I put on an alarming 2 stone (and went from size 8 to a 14) in four weeks ....and it didn;t stop there..... (When my medic brother saw me I looked like I was about to give birth and he rushed me off for a scan because he though I had developed a large ovarian cyst ). None of the GP's or specialists could explain the reason for such a sudden increase in weight and girth although I think my hormone issues/tumour were a part of it....the weight gain and the lack of medical insight made me so miserable and stressed I started smoking again and that reduced some of it..(half a stone)...the remaining 2 stone came off (in two weeks ) as a result of the flood/nervous breakdown a year later
Being unable to eat wheat/gluten has helped tremendously in keeping my weight on the straight and narrow after it settled down.....even though i might now kill for a bacon butty :rotfl:Flooded 20/07/07.

You're one brave and gutsy lady Taxi.
Sorry I haven't been on here Wol (sending grovelling apologies), I have been a bit busy. My posterior is less sore now
:T:T:T:T
and I have been eating 400mg x 3 Ibruprofen every day and bathing in a salty bath -
Yuk to the ibuprofen - they make my tummy hurt .....I'm strictly a dihydrocodeine girl
I too have fallen on a concrete floor after being shoved off my heels at a party by a twit that called himself Monkey (that guy had serious issues:mad:), driving home from Manchester wasnt a pleasant experience and I have no idea how I managed it:eek:
I got my earrings back on Friday and had bribed her with the promise of a slice of gateau from Druckers (I couldnt be bothered to go to town to buy it), she flopped on the sofa and pretended to be tired and I stood there and thought that she looked like a fat sleepy walrus, anyway I eventually got her to shift and get a wriggle on as I had work to do - I am sure she was hoping for some lunch but I said that I had eaten already:rotfl: She is going to keep in touch but I am adept at avoiding people.
Way to go Horace - shame though as I was rather looking forward to your description of shoving the cake where Nargle suggested.....where do you shove it in a walrus :rotfl:
Went to Spring Fair on the 2nd day and the last day - I met a company called Italian Options who sell bits and bobs to make Italian bombonieres and so I mulled over an idea in my head and went back on the final day to place an order for a whole pile of samples (to play with really) and the precious machine, two postboxes, some silk bouquets, favour boxes and 2kg of chocolate dragees, oh and some ribbon. Part of the order has arrived but not the machine or the bouquets which are on back order...yes I will bring some to the shindig when I have an idea of numbers.
I will finalise a date soon and let you know anticipated guest list
I have other news too - news that will mean that I shall soon be very busy indeed and details are to be finalised when out in Gran Canaria (now I can truly claim the 'holiday' as a business expense:cool:).
You jammy dodger - re the business expense......Wol toddles off to google start-up business advice in Mauritius :rotfl:
I have been asked by the biggest wedding & event planner on GC to be his UK agent (not sure if I have mentioned it on the forum before):D
Horace this sounds brilliant - hope you get it in writing (ie a heads of terms) while you are over there............
Saw the IFA too - who told me to pay off my virgin CC (I will pay it off next month), have paid my visa card and my amex card, put £1K into my business account, £4K in a savings account where I can draw on it if needs be and when the new financial year starts I will be putting £5100 (new limit) into my ISA...so that's the remainder of my compensation divvied up:cool:
Glad you;ve got it sorted - and that your IFA is sensible -
I still have my MSE ways although you wouldnt have thought so earlier today:eek: Firstly I went to Primark and spent £19.50 on 3 bikinis and some boxer shorts for me and then I set foot in Telly Tubby Towers (Selfridges:eek:), treated myself to a jolly nice lunch: tomato, mozzarella with pesto on ciabatta with a ton of rocket and a side order of handcut chips (I need to go on a diet, I saw myself without clothes tonight and it was an horrific sight:eek:) and then I ventured into Fenn Wright & Manson clutching my 20% money off voucher cut out of Woman & Home Magazine, got myself an acid green vest top and a loud lime green trenchcoat that I have been lusting after for months..so saved myself £135:cool:
You;re right :rotfl::rotfl: I wouldn;t have thought it :rotfl::rotfl:
I nipped into the basement to get some posh wrapping paper and bought a card for beechie & co (I couldnt resist it and they are bound to love it).
:A:A:A
Also went to eye hospital and my eyesight has changed slightly and again in MSE style took in my old frames and asked that they replace the right lens only which has cost me £78 - was offered the voucher I get from the NHS for having poor eyesight but said that I would rather keep it until I need some really new glasses.
Ooh thanks for the reminder.....need to book appointment myself and am determined to do the same as you - get new lenses fitted to existing frames.
Guess I had better think about having a bedtime drink - its a 6am start tomorrow, its the networking breakfast and I have to leave the house at 7am to go to the bank and to walk to the venue which is a good 2 miles.
I have rush hour journey in the M25 car park tomorrow morning ....need to prepare for the meeting in a minute so might be a bit late to bed (.....again)
I think I will order the book because I too have a toxic mother.;););):D
Bloomin 'eck Horace...I'm knackered just reading about what you;ve got up to today.........well done Hun...:T..hope the breakfast meeting goes well and you meet some useful contacts
Kisses from the piggies especially Ginger

Thanks Wol...I am also looking forward but scared as well to the book helping me.
Its on its way.
So glad all piggies are well and that everything else is sounding good.0 -
Taxi..I am a millionaire in training:rotfl: starting a business is bloomin' hard and there are times when I have thought of quitting but I am not a quitter and the thought of actually being an employed person working in an office with not so nice people fills me with dread:eek:
Breakfast meeting was fab and bagged some bargains in the auction - a new blog (that I can earn money from) and an audio podcast for my website done by a professional voiceover artiste:cool:..hopefully I will get some sort of receipt and will be able to claim them back:rotfl: Wol - I have my head screwed on with the GC job - I am having lots of meetings and it will be in writing too..already I have been asked to supply wedding favors for his clients:cool:
Met some great folks this morning and came away from the meeting hyped up - walked part way home and then got the bus. Arrived home to find that Lakeland had delivered a box of stuff that I ordered on Saturday, then another box arrived again from Lakeland and now I am expecting 2 more boxes and now my flat looks like a cardboardbox portal for the homeless:eek: I need to tidy up as my accountant is coming round tomorrow:eek::eek:
Can you think of a word that I can use for a domain name for my new blog? I dont want to limit myself to one sphere of business as I want to blog about all sorts of things..any ideas will be appreciated:D
Off to try my new toaster now:D0 -

I first thought of Raconteur - but that's been taken. Then I did a thesarus google and "Fabulist" came up - although there is a beta site called this regarding science fiction/fantasy....googling Fabulist I came up with "Blowhard"
....then I had a total mental moment and now can;t get the sound of ELO's "The Diary of Horace Wimp" out of my head :rotfl::rotfl:(sorry Horace - no offence intended)....
.....Out of the blue (all joined up)
Brummybardbird (could be misread....in a number of ways :rotfl::rotfl: )

Yep - that's them :j. I only have the most recent album which I am listening to in the car at the moment. I listened to some of their other stuff on Youtube tonight (including that one) and think i will really enjoy the gig
Will post up some recent piccies of your nieces and nephews later this week. Apart from Muffin who looks gaunt round the face(because she is very thin despite a very fluffy coat )...they all look the same as when you last saw them, Beechie is still having a bad hair day (and Grommie is having a great time with the air biscuits at the moment _pale_)
