Just a wee vignette- my Violin tutor played with ELO in the early days- didn't do me much good thoughBut i reached an O' level pass in the darned thing! Much to the relief of the neighbours
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:BOB..I did music O level and we had to study Mendelssohn's "Overture to a Midsummer Night's Dream" in depth...when you posted it prompted a recall of one key "ponce" phrase dictated by my music teacher........ "the music shimmers in the strings".....:eek::rotfl::rotfl:
Wow I'm impressed you had such an experienced tutor with street cred :cool:.... (not easy to find in our day IYKWIM )
I went to an all girls school and had to "do my duty" by playing piano for assembly - classical intro, hymn and march out. (I was however not favoured as I was taught outside the school i.e. NOT by her)
On my last performing day..(june 1979) ..... I rebelliously played Bat out of Hell on their march out...:eek:..pupils loved it....:T:T..music teacher very nearly fainted...:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:...and never spoke to me again :beer:
We'll get a DFW band together yet....

I know why...I'm seeing a client tomorrow (an old boss of mine.... who, despite our periodic personal entertainment/explore new opportunity meetings over the last few years ...has in Jan asked someone else (no commment on their abilites ;)) to head up a new venture he is participating in... which i would have been VERY able and extremely interested to do..and it is "the most brilliant opportunity and one thing i aspire to".
However he has "only" asked me in Jan to "sort out his current office"......no mention of " do you want to head up my new venture".
Pah and Pants..........self esteem = 0:(:(
To rub salt into the wound....tomorrow I now have to go in and rectify said "usurpers" deficiencies....at no cost to them..and do the job this person was employed to do....for which I get paid a fixed fee of not very much.....:mad::mad::mad:...Talk about being exploited....
So, let me get this straight. He employs someone who screws up, and the first person he thinks of to straighten it out is you. And your self-esteem is suffering?
Hate to tell you this, but generically speaking, the Three Stooges were never called upon to save the day, but Wonder Woman was. Does this say anything to you?...so how "helpful" should I really be;);)....in these circumstances (insert confused smiley)....
It's not how helpful you should be, but how much time you should be spending on it. Only the amount paid for. No freebies.Self esteem rating now ......-100 :(...that's MINUS one hundered :(

So, let me get this straight. He employs someone who screws up, and the first person he thinks of to straighten it out is you. And your self-esteem is suffering?
Yep...because he wanted me on board as part of his team but didn;t have the courage (or value me enough) to put me at the helm
Hate to tell you this, but generically speaking, the Three Stooges were never called upon to save the day, but Wonder Woman was. Does this say anything to you?
:think::think::think:......Well, I am clearly a cheap slapper!!...because he has used the "system" where he gets me for free.

No freebies...but this whole thing grates in my craw IYKWIM
Did he know you wanted a job and didn't want to be self-employed?
Yes he did - but clearly he only felt comfortable giving me a job as the cleaner...not as the CEO :mad:
Nice try Z my lovely...:kisses3::A and thankx :kisses2:.....because I really do appreciate your efforts.......but I am not flattered by his actions...and in fact Iam fuming :mad:...and so begins the spiral of self doubt.....

But at least this time half of me is "outside" this time, monitoring what is going on...hopefullly I will be able to stop this rapid descent in the next hour

Bach's Fellatio in G-String is much better.
:rotfl:
You should have played it earlier...
Prior to Bat out of Hell .....me and my friend did Beethovens 5th symphony as a piano duet..
....and I then followed it up with Scott Joplin :eek::eek: ....(that hospitalised her for 3 weeks)
and then i did Pink Ffloyd (cue fainting smiley) :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Oh bum...all this talk of me not "being" what other people wanted me to be (i.e. "failing":o ) .......both now and in the past...
.I think I need a cuddle please.......this is most definitely not fitting in as part of my new -found positive lifestyle and perceptions
Get thee behind me Satan

Yep...because he wanted me on board as part of his team but didn;t have the courage (or value me enough) to put me at the helm
Or know that you'd take a job as opposed to be your own boss.......Well, I am clearly a cheap slapper!!...because he has used the "system" where he gets me for free.
It still costs him overall - he's employed a buffoon, instead of employing you. Costs the same in money terms, but opportunity cost has come along and ripped him a new one.No freebies...but this whole thing grates in my craw IYKWIM
Tell me about it - it will be at least Friday before I get to start *my* work for the week. If then.Yes he did - but clearly he only felt comfortable giving me a job as the cleaner...not as the CEO :mad:
Not quite the cleaner. The fixer.Nice try Z my lovely...:kisses3::A and thankx :kisses2:.....because I really do appreciate your efforts.......but I am not flattered by his actions...and in fact Iam fuming :mad:...and so begins the spiral of self doubt.....
Self doubt about what? People (think arse-kissers) don't like me because the first thing I do is ask questions they are most unlikely to have the answers to. But when the brown stuff hits the rotary oscillator - then like it or not, that's what they have to do.
Looks like he is subscribing to the usual "If it's not working for you - reach for a bigger gun."
You *are* that bigger gun. No self-doubt in that. He's reaching for you now.:wall::wall::doh::doh::wall::wall:........:(

:rotfl:We are the same age then- because June 79 was the last time i played as well. I also played school orchestra and we won quite a few local competitions too:)
Do you remember the set pieces for O level:mad: I was last in and i knew four of them by heart- what did i get? The flaming Cantata- Oh be still my quivering bow...grrr

The teacher was pretty cool and he had an electric violin too...he let me play with it sometimes- the violin that is:DBlackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:0 -
Wol...sometimes I could give you a good shake...you are one fabulous woman and don't you forget it (in fact to remind yourself go and stand in front of a mirror and say I love You..you need to learn to love yourself so do this every day). As for ex boss that employs your services for free or for very little when he as employed an incompetent twonk..then put your professional hat on and charge him a fee of say £100 per hour (or whatever your fee is) - make your fee higher than normal otherwise he will see you as a doormat and think "oh that Wol will do the work for free or on the cheap, she's good like that" He is your velcro monkey and velcro monkeys can be treated:D
Uhm re the wine - instead of buying a huge bottle that contains 4 large glasses or 6 small ones - buy a tiny bottle that contains one glass or several thimble-fuls if you want to eke it out:D
I wanted to do music O level but it clashed with biology and I couldnt do both, same as I wanted to domestic science but couldnt because I was doing Latin. I know that I got a B in my mock music O Level. I used to play the recorder and was in the baroque music club at school for a while as well as being in the choir (the choir was ok but in assemblies we had to sit in front of the stage facing the boys (who would spit, giggle and generally be annoying little twerps). Can remember my English teacher asking us to sing at his wife's funeral..although a sad occasion it was happy and took place in Great Witley Church which is a fabulous building. I know I can't sing now...my neighbours discovered that on Saturday after they decided to play Shine by Take That repeatedly at full volume so I joined in with my croaky off key voice - funny how my singing made them turn the volume down:rotfl:0 -

We did have a new male music teacher for last year O level harmony...he had piercing blue eyes was very yummy, and he lost his temper with me...(v unusal as i was such a model pupil and wouldn;t say boo to a goose normally....but I challenged him one day and he lost it..(his temper that is) .. guess I must have fancied him :rotfl::rotfl:)
Lovely post BOB...calming me down...much appreciated ...thank you :kisses3:
