Just catching up here - dreadful for Horace, thats appalling. Wol, better for you if you're sans alcohol tonight and feeling compos mentis for it... but am very concerned for you at the level of the arachnid problem :eek::eek:
I have made further progress today KC. Lounge and smallest room now clear of leggie and webbie things ...hoovered dusted and paintwork done......and Grommie and Beechie are in nice clean cages :T
Hope you missed the sudden blizzard last wednesday evening - I was just returning from the pet shop with some straw and got caught in a white out with horrible swirly wind on the back roads - it was absolute chaos for bit but luckily it didn;t settle overnight. Thank goodness I didn;t live 10 miles due south east (I would like a relieved or "phew" smiley please MSE towers )
How's things going with the house atm? I noticed from your diary you;d been out sawing things up in the garden ......and retiring knackered...Take care Hun - you really got walloped with that bug...I remember when I had pneumonia (it was when the twin towers went down - saw it unfolding live on TV .....really distressing) ..and it took me ages before I could do physical exertion (doctor warned too much exercise too soon could cause scarring on the lungs).....so I believe "gentle" exercise is the order of the day young lady or else Beechie will have to pay a visit
Really looking forward to the weather (hopefully) getting better and getting out and about again....so hope to see you soon.......
Take care Hun

but we've not planned what we're growing in the allotment yet, at the moment it's totally covered with grass so if the weather was good i'd have them up there to eat it down to make it easier to dig up.
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:....it's amazing how much grass they can nibble in such a short time :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Mine love spinach too (but I got told off for making it one of their regular veggies - apparently it is not good for lady piggies and gives them bladder and kidney stones owing to high oxalate levels) Having said that the stuff they're meant to eat regularly (like peppers, cabbage, wild plants such as plantain & chickweed, and the odd bit of fruit like grapes/kiwi/meon/strawberries/tomatoes......they won;t touch .....insert confused smiley). So in view of thier prognosis I have decided to let them have what they enjoy.... even if it is extremely non-MSE
I really don;t like winter because they're favourite stuff is grass and dandelions...of which I have plenty in the summer courtesy of the most enormous dandelion patch on the verges near my house because the council haven't maintained the grass properly.....but finding them stuff besides spinach that they will eat in winter is quite taxing......seem to be getting through an awful lot of cos lettuce and spring greens, in addition to cucumber and celery
I am very envious that you have an allotment....I have the sum total of 4 square feet of raised bed which was built by my own fair hand and mounted on castors so it could be wheeled into the sunlight each day. I was dead chuffed at my handiwork. Unfortunately I made a mistake in my calculations......:doh::doh:... once I put the soil/compost in it, it was so heavy it sunk right into the tarmac and now can;t be moved until I empty it in the spring :rotfl::rotfl:
Really looking forward to hearing what you're planning to grow......and hope you'll join in the "bait BOB with your runner beans" entertainment this year :rotfl:
How are the girlies atm?

Another lurker working up the wotsits to post for the first time. I catch up with your diary as often as I can (tinterweb being somewhat shaky in these parts) and I think you are just fab. Your incredible heart in the face of circs that would bring most peeps to their knees (and possible AA) is inspiring.
That and the diary is really funny. The snorts win me some odd looks from my boss. I'd love to start my own but I'm not sure I qualify - I am debt free (thanks to shoving from hubby) but want to stay that way! I still have the urge to throw bank statements away unopened and still get sweaty palms logging on to online banking....
Thank you for sharing your tales - and a big hello to the piggies!
Hello Mishka :j:j
Thank you very much for posting....and what a lovely first post.
I too lurked for ages before I summoned up the courage to make my first post here....... on MOT's thread (two and bit years ago) ......and look where it;s got me :eek: :rotfl::rotfl:.
Stricly speaking my debt is just my mortgage (although after the flood I have an additional rather large sum drawn down on my offset mortgage that I treat like a CC debt and that I'd like to get rid of...see siggie below and more about that later this weekend)....
...oooh and I did put £5k on a 0% BT CC that runs out in October (Mental note to amend siggie yet again) that also needs sorting..(but at least it has enabled me to cover the humungous vets bills of the last few months )
You are very welcome here at chez Wol and thank you for your encouragement. :kisses3: Don;t be shy now, you;ve made the first step so please feel free to join in and let us know a bit about yourself. And who knows...maybe that will spur you on to start your own thread.:eek:
The piggies are very thrilled to know they have a new adopted Auntie..:j:j..I realise I haven;t posted all their profiles yet on this diary....I must rectify that soon. In fact Valentines day is coming up (I only realised today)...perhaps I should start a piggie dating site :rotfl::rotfl:
Hugs to you .....you're doing really well to stay debt-free......please don;t think that doesn;t mean you can;t post on this or any other thread on DFW...or even start your own thread..This a fantastic community and we will support you all the way..be it emotionally or practically....(sounds like you had to make a few tough decisions at some point ?) ...so dry those sweaty palms my dear......and come have some fun

Hi Nargle
Your posts do make me laugh :rotfl::rotfl:
I spent half the morning trying to find an image of a "stoned" guinea.......I even googled "guinea pig with sunglasses" "stoned guinea pig" and "guinea pig smoking" but to no avail :(Unfortunately therefore [STRIKE]I [/STRIKE] Numpty will have to do some tweaking with one of my own photos.
How are the chickies? Are they still laying and have they started moulting yet? I'm relying on the fact that when your chickies moult, it will be a signal for the end of the carp weather

my girlies are fine thanks. they are so funny in summer as they can often see us picking the spinich or grass for them and start squeeking like mad. I've sometimes had some brocolli which has flowered so i give them the stalk and they like that. Have to admit i've not tried them on peppers and steer clear of lettuce because of the rabbit.0

I had a look, but all I found was this..."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)
"We were born and raised in a summer haze." Adele 'Someone like you.'
"Blowing your mind, 'cause you know what you'll find, when you're looking for things in the sky." OMD 'Julia's Song'0 -
The thought of stoned piggies made me smile - they don't want to be eating the strange non-tomato plants grown by the fat slob downstairs. The other growers of the noxious weeds down in the basement must have been evicted because the landlord's men were removing leather sofas (yes, my landlord furnishes some flats with leather sofas - I got my flat unfurnished as the rent is cheaper) and then proceeded to paint everything - the smell of gloss and eggshell paint is as bad as the skunk:mad: Fat slob (I saw her once - built like a brick-built dunny if you ask me) is going to get her marching orders soon because she has a cat that pees and there are days when I get wafts of skunk mixed with eau d'tomcat:eek: Not had any wafts of skunk this week and already my mood has lifted and I feel nearly 100% brighter:D
Had a disappointing day today - firstly had to go to bank to put in some money (don't tell anyone but Eon sent me another £50:rotfl:) and then I had to go to Sainsburys - used one basket and half filled two shopping bags and had to lug a multi-pack of loo rolls onto the bus to come home...no way was I going to carry tinned stuff 2 miles home. Had a call this af aternoon from the folks that I placed the order at the Spring Fair with yesterday - they have run out of favour machines so mine will arrive at the end of the month and the bouquets will arrive at the end of the month too so next week I will have dragees, paper roses, sparkly roses, favour boxes, post boxes (x2) and loads of tuille and ribbon to play with but no machine (groan). Was so fed up (and cold) this afternoon that I decided to take the rest of the afternoon off and watched a soppy film and then fell asleep on the sofa.
Was supposed to tidy up today but can't be bothered and my rather snooty friend is coming round tomorrow (returning my white gold and sapphire earrings)..its disgusting that she has kept them so long - I lent them to her in May before she got married and then I find she never took them with her and she didnt return them at her post-wedding dinner that I went to:mad: We are off to town tomorrow - I have some vouchers to spend in Debenhams and a 20% off Fenn Wright & Manson so I might get a summer dress (it will have to altered, I have no shoulders) or a bolero or something else - I did see a fabby lime green trench coat but I dont have anything to wear with it. Then we're doing Ladies Wot Lunch by having a bite to eat in the posh restaurant in Selfridges (I am a regular in there as they do fabby handcut chips and fabby soup).0 -
I had a look, but all I found was this...
:rotfl::rotfl:They're great aren't they? I think that was 2009 calendar?
There's a new one out... Guinea pig Olympics 2010...(which I have ) ..but it's nowehere near as good as the ones you;ve posted.
