Wol's Riverbank tales: Part 3 Restoration

Uhm...Wol, you know you said something to me about needing clients..well from next month I will be having so many that I may have to start employing staff:eek: You may wonder about this sudden change of fortune but I have just been asked to be the new UK agent for the biggest wedding & event planner on Gran Canaria which would mean me sending couples over there to get married and me organising their post wedding parties here in the UK. Details on the wedding company's website will be changed to show me as the agent and they get an awful lot of business through that site:D
I am branching out into other things as well - nice posh Italian bombonieres which I shall make myself..thank you Spring Fair..I am off to the Spring Fair again tomorrow for a chit chat, I also want to see the jewellery types that are there too because I didnt wander in their direction on Monday (well, there are 18 halls to look at:eek:).
Anyway thought that I would share some good news for a change instead of doom n gloom. As for the blood tests - I need to find out what is what but I was advised that the only thing wrong is high levels of TCH in my blood courtesy of the woman downstairs who must be growing stinky weeds that look vaguely like tomatoes but they're not..they give off a mind altering gas that can cause depression and mental illness:mad:0 -
Wol. just wanted to say thank you for your lovely pm the other day.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0

:(...no top totty - but he was very nice and my CH is all working, serviced and radiators now properly balanced :T:T
Then my next door neighbour came round at lunchtime for his weekly snog and brought half the bottle of champagne I gave him at Christmas for us to quaff :beer::beer:
And I have finally overcome my fear of all things interwebby and listed 3 lots of empty ink cartridges on ebay :T:T
Wow, there'll be no stopping me now .......I have boxes and boxes of stuff to put on ...and then there's the clothes :eek:.
Also now got to book in to get the choice stuff valued for auction :cool:
xxxx
You'll get rid of the national debt if you sold that lot:p:p:rotfl:

Whether or not it is classified as cancer now, at the time all I knew was that I had a tumour in the pituitary gland at the front of the brain that had remained undiagnosed for several years
Luckily it was found to be the size of a small pea and the medication actually not only stops it growing but shrinks it so hopefully it is now the size of a puy lentil.:D. The hormone effects (elevated prolactin ....and low oestrogen...see its all about low oestrogen again) can have a knock on effect on the thyroid (mine underperforms ) adrenals etc and can also lead to early osteoporosis. If it gets bigger, it starts to press on the optic nerve and you start to lose your sight. A that point they will take it out. These days they have perfected a new technique of accessing via the nose :eek: - but at that time it could have meant opening up the skull which I really couldn;t get my head around (sorry for the pun) at all.
It is about showing empathy and emotional support for the other person -and respect for their situation and I think that's what upset me - it was the complete dismissal (however factually correct) of what I had to go through so many years ago (and subsequently following the flood in 2007); when I had to make some of those "life changing decisions" that people have to make when their health is at risk (which is what we were actually discussing at the time). Luckily my mum has never had to face this situation and my guess is she was feeling left out and emotionally insecure because of it and responded the way she did to neutralise the impact of what I was saying.
Hi Wol :hello:
I've read most of your diary today due to being in my sickbed with a horrid cold.
It's very entertaining and you sound like you have retained your sense of humour and tenacity in the face of adversity :T
As an outsider, and please correct me if I'm wrong, but do you think it's just your Mum's way of dealing with it, that makes her come across as dismissive? I'm sure when you were diagnosed she was distraught - though not in front of you. Grandchildren are a good distraction when facing the potential loss of her first-born.....
My own Mum avoids the Doctor's like the plague and dismisses any talk of things medical with "It'll be fine, be positive".
Denial and avoidance is her way of dealing with things, so she can come across as light and "fluffy", when really she is a total worrier, but has learnt to trick herself into ignoring "big deals" - totally suppressing her real feelings. (Apologies if I'm out of line, just wanted to offer a different perspective)
I won't even pretend to know what you have been through, but wanted to add this. A good friend of mine had been referred for fertility treatment after failing to concieve a second child.
The Doctor casually told her it could be this or that or a brain tumour in the pituitary gland - she was beside herself as she already had a young son.
Anyway, my sister is a Neurology nurse in the States, so we rang her. She said if she were to have a brain tumour, that is the one she's want. That they are the size of a pea, and as you say are benign (non-cancerous) and can be removed via the nasal cavity - if necessary - or can be successfully kept under control with drugs.
If you ever need to find out anything - I can always ask her
Anyway, just wanted to say I love the diary - and David Essex - Ding Dong (long-haired version - Hold me close? - yes please)
Take care xx0 -
Hope you're having a good day x0

I actually have a sealed hp cartridge that i keep meaning to put up for sale somewhere.
T'would appear they do LT......:D. I posted 2 HP EMPTY cartidges and at the time, bidding on another two HP had reached £9.60 :eek::eek::eek::eek:
So if yours is FULL :cool::cool::cool:....go girlie go :T:T...
Ahem....But don;t just put it on at 0.99p (even though it may be free to list like it was for me......might just be lucky when I listed it that a special free listing was going on :cool: ...but I am just such an "out of it dork" atm that I didin;t even bother to check....) -
Anyway....Further "experience" that day meant I realised I could post up to £4.99 as the starting price with ONLY a 0.15 listing fee (plus obvously the tremendously bloody unfair wack they take on the selling price at the end:cool::D:eek::(....and the Paypal comission..:o:cool::D:eek::(.and the other bit....insert confused smiley now
.. .and "THE REST" .....:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:)...
Bottom line is....... work your margins out carefully:cool:....it's far more difficult to "make money" these days on ebay as opposed to, at the end of the transaction, just "covering your costs"
But worth a go Hun:beer::T
How are your girlies....Iroko is really developing an "attitude"......( due to lack of crumpet? :rotfl::rotfl::cool: ........:eek::eek:)
Will post a piccie of him later in the week ..he is such a "choice" guinea ....RUBY eyes and chocolate roan Aby .....swoon
And he's now starting to show his real (lovely inquisitive) character..bless him

How are you doing LT? Hope things are working out for you?
