Hi Wol :hello:
I've read most of your diary today due to being in my sickbed with a horrid cold.
Hugs :grouphug::grouphug:(from a distance) and hope you start to feel better soon. I'm in awe that you have read this diray right through ....thank you :T
It's very entertaining and you sound like you have retained your sense of humour and tenacity in the face of adversity :T:o:o...hope you got a few laughs and it cheered you up a bit
As an outsider, and please correct me if I'm wrong, but do you think it's just your Mum's way of dealing with it, that makes her come across as dismissive? I'm sure when you were diagnosed she was distraught - though not in front of you. Grandchildren are a good distraction when facing the potential loss of her first-born.....
My own Mum avoids the Doctor's like the plague and dismisses any talk of things medical with "It'll be fine, be positive".
Denial and avoidance is her way of dealing with things, so she can come across as light and "fluffy", when really she is a total worrier, but has learnt to trick herself into ignoring "big deals" - totally suppressing her real feelings. (Apologies if I'm out of line, just wanted to offer a different perspective)
Thanks Hun - there are facets of that involved but it's become very clear over the last week (finally after 27months of psychotherapy  and 48 years of living) exactly what the issues are for both me and her....something I will post about over the next few days. Nargle actually has it spot on!
I won't even pretend to know what you have been through, but wanted to add this. A good friend of mine had been referred for fertility treatment after failing to concieve a second child.
The Doctor casually told her it could be this or that or a brain tumour in the pituitary gland - she was beside herself as she already had a young son.
Anyway, my sister is a Neurology nurse in the States, so we rang her. She said if she were to have a brain tumour, that is the one she's want. That they are the size of a pea, and as you say are benign (non-cancerous) and can be removed via the nasal cavity - if necessary - or can be successfully kept under control with drugs.
If you ever need to find out anything - I can always ask her
Thanks for the offer Hun..it's much appreciated...The biggest issue for me is not what's going on in the pituituary ...but the serious knock on effects with my hormones and metabolism over the last few years ..the dramatic weight gain of 2 stone in four weeks in 2005 (I've lost it all now...again very suddenly ...2 stone in two weeks owing to the stress of the nervous breakdown in 2007 ) ...the real roller coaster oestrogen levels....the glucose intolerance that classifies me as a pre-diabetic...I have been to many different consultatns and none of them can explain what's going on in context with the tumour (although i'm sure the tumour is what is causing all this - maybe it's they just haven;t done enough research yet?) If your sister can shed any light on this I;d be very grateful.
Anyway, just wanted to say I love the diary - and David Essex - Ding Dong (long-haired version - Hold me close? - yes please)
Duly noted.....I am currently preparing list of "electrical jobs" in order to provide more picccie fodder for the DFW gals...actually I have helped out two of his friends over their debts so he owes me one
(quite what the "one" is, I haven;t decided yet :rotfl::rotfl:)
Take care xx
And you my dear - really hope you can shift the lurgy soon and start to feel better. Thank you for reading......and for posting.......much appreciated

Oooh I forgot to say - I have managed to fix my suitcase with some extra strong gloop from the car spares shop, its so strong that you cant shift it after 5 mins and takes 48 hrs to bond properly..nothing is going to shift it now:j
Yayyy ....well done H:T:T
TCH is not a disease but the chemical thats in stinky weed that folks put into roll ups and then wander around with a glazed look on their faces...basically I am permanently stoned:eek::mad: Still, as the police have done diddly squat I am firing a letter off to the chief super at the local cop shop in Bournville Lane (instead of smelling chocolate he can come and sort out the weed problem).
Well I am "sans alcohol" tonight and now realise I completely missed what you were saying....and quite frankly Horace I'm absolutely appalled to hear the effects on your health of your neighbours waccy baccy. Never mind "nuisance".....surely the results of those blood tests means you could mount a personal injury claim against your neighbour...and maybe also your landlord if they are also his tenants (do you have legal insurance? - or try no win no fee)
I helped a friend of mine get £30k for personal injury after a car crash when her dork solicitor was trying to persuade her to settle for £7.5k....so if you want to follow this up, I'm game if you are
Horace Hun, I really am very concerned on your behalf.....the piggies have offered to come and eat your neighbours stock .....but I'm afraid I can;t let them :rotfl:
(although i'm sure Nargle will point out later that Beechie looks as if he's already done so :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:)
Hugs Hun

my girlies are doing fine, they have ventured into eating the odd grape recently (hope they're allowed to).
The guinea I had as a child (with the incredibly original name of "Guinea" :rotfl:)....used to love grapes and the way he ate them was hilarious! None of my current lot will eat grapes (in fact they're fussy little beggars all round on the food/veggie front). Grapes won;t do any harm provided they are washed, de-pipped and only fed occasionally as a treat.
One seems to have gotten a bit bigger than the other so OH is worried but i've assured him it's just that they have different parents.
My guinea weights range from 1.01kg to 1.5kg . I have big chunky girls and boys, normal and petite ones. Aby's seem to be chunky while the smooth haired ones are smaller...although Whisp (RIP) was a tiny Aby weighing just under 1kg because she was the runt of the litter
I'm not too bad, work is getting more hectic by the minute, and i'm working hard at providing information and keeping my job and section in employment.
Needs must...and I hope they recognise and value your contribution
Dad's still with us, just waiting to see what this juggle of medication will do, at least the doctor saying 'see you in 2 weeks' has given him some hope he'll be around then.
That's really good news :T:T
Got to pull my finger out about the allotment society, as it's our busiest time at work and after last weekend i haven't managed to ring the bank but i'll have to try and squeeze it in tomorrow or i'll be in trouble.
Hi Hun
Sounds like there's a lot going on for you at the moment....best get that phone call in to the bank. Oooh you have an allotment? French and English parsley are great guinea pig food.....spinach is apparently only an occasional treat (especially for girlies with their possible bladder stones/cystitis problems)....what are your plans for this years crops?

Just catching up here - dreadful for Horace, thats appalling. Wol, better for you if you're sans alcohol tonight and feeling compos mentis for it... but am very concerned for you at the level of the arachnid problem :eek::eek:2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Well it's been a 27month slog with the psychotherapy...and an incredible 7 days..and I think we can call this a "light bulb week".. Finally the pieces of the jigsaw are fitting together and it is starting to look like a picture.....the dark solid mass I have been carrying around with me all my life is starting to shift :T
Right now, the lamb shank and roast potoatoes are in need of consumption and the guineas need their meds.....and I am very very drained....but feeling very positive about the future. Tomorrow is the first day of the rest of my life :T:T
I will post tomorrow about it.....as I think it may be helpful for others.
Sleep well peeps

mine love spinich, which i've grown in the garden before them.
but we've not planned what we're growing in the allotment yet, at the moment it's totally covered with grass so if the weather was good i'd have them up there to eat it down to make it easier to dig up.0 -
Another lurker working up the wotsits to post for the first time. I catch up with your diary as often as I can (tinterweb being somewhat shaky in these parts) and I think you are just fab. Your incredible heart in the face of circs that would bring most peeps to their knees (and possible AA) is inspiring.
That and the diary is really funny. The snorts win me some odd looks from my boss. I'd love to start my own but I'm not sure I qualify - I am debt free (thanks to shoving from hubby) but want to stay that way! I still have the urge to throw bank statements away unopened and still get sweaty palms logging on to online banking....
Thank you for sharing your tales - and a big hello to the piggies!0 -
Good morning Wol, hope the sun shines today both literally and metaphorically. Now, I don't know why, but I can't seem to get this image out of my head - a group of glassy-eyed guinea pigs sat around smoking reefers.......One life - your life - live it!0
