It really was bizarre at the weekend. Admittedly I was selling 'classics' which are always in demand - well.... errr except for the one of the Twilight books which sold ha ha. I don't even bother listing the best sellers now, there are always loads of copies for sale at 1p, and I can't make any money on that even if someone does buy! A lot of my old law books are on at 1p too, and considering they cost about £5-6 to mail because they are so heavy, I can't understand why people list them! I can only assume they are posting for free through work or something! I have thought about bundling things too, particularly CDs, if you've got a few chicklit books you could bundle for instance, that complement each other, that would defo work. I've got a few rarer books I need to work out where I'm going to get the best price on. I was so hoping my Amazon payment from last week would be in my account today so I could update my signature, but no such luck! Maybe tomorrow....

In other news, ohmygoshihatemyjobihatemyjobihatemyjob. I'm just getting really depressed and feel quite teary the minute I sit down at my desk. I think the commute is starting to get to me as well. Aaaach, will I ever find a job that I like?! I like some of the people, but because I'm the only full timer in my department I feel lonely a lot of the time, and because the job is not enough to fill the hours and completely undemanding and unchallenging, I can't get absorbed in what I'm doing. For example today I drafted and sent an email, checked several voicemails to 'quality check' the vast majority of which had no messages, and looked at a few web forms for quality checking. Except it's not quality checking because we haven't started quality checking. Aaaaaaargh. And then someone came to pass on a complaint they'd had from someone at one of the teams about all the stupid emails they get where they are being asked to do things on spreadsheets. I had to say I had no idea what they were talking about as I've sent precisely one email out to everyone since I've been there, and it defo had no spreadsheet on, so it must have been another dept! I swear, if I didn't have rent to pay...

oh lord, I forgot to have my second rant, and I must get it off my chest!!! I'm a regular on the up your income board (ok, more of a lurker, but I read it every day for tips) and I'm getting REALLY fed up of all the sudden 'newbies' who are clearly fakers or being paid to write posts by someone. They all have the same style of user name, post pointless crap in bad english, and I wish they'd !!!!!! off.

AAARGH, and another %£*@()%@ing spider has just crossed my floor!!!!!

    and breathe :rotfl:
  • I soooo know where you're coming from with the whole boring job thing. I think I could do my whole job in about 10 hours but I have to sit there for 40, with my back to the office so everybody can see that I'm doing nothing. The annoying thing is though, everybody else in the office is busy! But it's with stuff I don't know how to do so they're flapping around and I'm just sat staring out of the window unable to help anybody. Sigh.
Oh well, it could be worse, at least we are getting paid to do this

Do you live in spider-land? I haven't seen a spider for weeks! Perhaps they have all migrated to your house. I feel like all the wasps have migrated to where I eat my lunch every day. Pests!

glad that someone knows where I'm coming from! I've never known anything like it. I think a big part of the problem is the total lack of team working, I'm used to working as part of a team and all pulling together, helping each other out etc, and whilst there are lots of 'teams', because of the security risks, everything is on a 'need to know' basis, and there is different levels of access so basically I can't help anyone except my own team, which is three people, of which I am the full timer! It's just all very wierd, and I don't like it! I do like the being paid bit though!

I do live in spider land yes, do you want some?! Not sure if your username indicates a like or dislike of them!! Oh, I hate wasps too - even more because I'm allergic to them, so potentially more deadly for me, but spiders, well there are more of them, and they like coming in my house, wasps don't!

    Hi

I kinda sympathise with the job thing - but I have been soooooo busy today - and there is nobody able to help me

An to top it off, my always longish commute (an hour each way) was lengthened tonight by an accident on the motorway - got home at nearly 9 o'clock

Whoops - sorry, just moaning on your diary :o

aaah, feel free, I love a good rant! I always hope when I'm delayed on the commute that it's a breakdown and not an accident. I lost a very dear friend of mine in January after she was hit by a car, and the week I started at work, someone else who work there was killed on the way into work. And the job before this one i was working in Personal injury and a lot of the claims were RTAs. As a consequence I am a very careful driver, and get upset whenever I see an accident or hear about one! Shame I can't come and help you in your job, it's not fair is it!

I am trying to get the Halifax website to play ball so that I can make first payment against the overdraft, but it's stalled, yet again. I'm paying £50 into it. £10 is budgetted, £10 is budgeted to save to pay off the big scary loan, but I've realised there is no point in doing that, so it can go to the overdraft as well, £15 my budgeted September CC payment, but I've already made it from last months Amazon sales, and a further £15 is what I would usually pay towards my emergency fund. So that's another £200 to find from somewhere, plus the extra I want to pay at the CC. My amazon money still hasn't come through, boo!

My username is from the tv program The Mighty Boosh, it has nothing to do with spiders :)
I really really do not like spiders. Luckily though, my cats do. So whenever there is one in my room they team up and go after it and eat it. I feel quite guilty about setting the cats on spiders but what if the spiders crawl into my ear or nose or mouth or something? ERrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I do, however, like the spiders that live in the wing mirrors on my car. But only when my windows are closed.
  • I sold another book! May still try eBay though and like you say bundle into genres. I always buy the same authors - once I find a favourite I tend to stick - so can maybe do three books for £4 or similar (plus postage) from same author.

In total understanding re:Halifax website, they are not my friend this week after cancelling my card because it had 'secretly' expired. I'm also trying to open another basic bank account to squirrel away contact lens and glasses mnoney each month and they're 'holding' my application even though I already have two accounts with them and they clearly know who I am. OOps bit of a rant there...!

quick fly by posting this morning - was so knackered last night I didn't have time before my head hit the pillow! I'm sat here in my hoody with the hood up at the mo, feeling like I've got big bags under my eyes!

Congrats on the book sale SilkcutSilver! I had one sell yesterday, but first one since the weekend's frenzy. Will have to get cracking listing more stuff at the weekend to keep on track with my target for this month!

Spiderdijon, I so should have known that, I have all of the Boosh on DVD - now i feel I must watch them all until I find and remember said reference before I kick myself! I love the Boosh - took me a while to get into it, but then came the episode where it looks like they are in Pacman and I couldn't stop laughing for 10 mins....

Have not seen any spiders since I put citronella sticks on the floor - house now stinks of it though!

Finally managed to get my £50 into the overdraft, and am going to check online banking in a min to make sure I've been paid and to see if amazon money has gone in... hopefully I can transfer a bit more over!

Spiderdijon is in the episode where they are looking for the new sound. I think he's called Spiderdijon anyway? I haven't watched it for aaaages, I dunno why Spiderdijon popped into my head when I joined this site but I like it :)

I tried to have TonyHarrison as my username, he's my favourite.
