Hello guys! Felt compelled to post. I have spoken to ALL my creditors today. I had been call dodging one of them because I didn't know who they were (because CrappyFax didn't tell me it was being passed over). Finally got it confirmed over the phone today, and explained situation to them. I then phoned Pantsander about my old Cahoot loan because they were writing to my old address, ended up doing my budget with them over the phone. I phoned Natpoo to cancel old credit card I didn't know was even still in existence; got put through to collections even though there was nothing owing on it; I was more concerned they would send a new card out to an address from long ago! So they've closed that and I gave them a quick update on that one as well.
I've also this week paid off my CrappyFax overdraft which was only a tiny amount but was costing a fortune in their fees (I switched to their £12.50 a month account on the basis that it was cheaper than £31.00 in fees every month. All because of a payment of about £5 I didn't know they had taken that ran up a ridiculous amount in fees - and they only refunded half. Annoyed I ever had to pay it, but so happy that it's gone now and they can never charge me again :-)
I have to say, the three of the four collections people I spoke to today were absolutely lovely. The person who called me from RW this morning was a **** however. The lovely man at Pantsander did say I would have to go to the CAB however as they don't accept self-administered arrangements, and will only deal with CCCS or this CAB scheme (CCCS won't take me again until I am employed as I missed three payments due to unemployment)
I'm doing Dave Ramsay's Total Money Makeover Plan as that makes more sense to me, particularly as it would seem that I'm the type who really needs an emergency fund... I know I could just go bankrupt, but I really really don't want to do that (unless I'm made to). Apart from all the career repercussions, I just want to pay back what I owe. And DR makes it sound so doable.
Now I just need to find that perfect job that I know is out there for me, and I can start making proper payments (once my baby emergency fund is funded which is not far off now).
Life is good :-) (it could just be better!)0 -
Glad that you have contacted everyone - you are really taking control again xSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0
