Arrgh, had to cancel!!
I have literally just gone through the cancellation option on 150 and said I was struggling to afford to pay and could get a better deal elsewhere. But I got nowhere! Just a talk on how good their service was and how bad their competitors were. As they wouldn't offer me anything I actually had to go through with my "bluff" and cancel!! So they are disconnecting everything in 30 days time. BB, Phone & TV. Damn! Might have to ring them back closer to the time and "change my mind"... Just a word of warning, it obviously doesn't always work sadly!!!0 -

Thats the route I had to go down when contacting them on behalf of my parents. The guy in retentions was so unhelpful and didn't offer anything. I had keep asking him questions as he just wasn't for giving away any deals at all. Ended up I had to say that they were giving 30 days notice I just hope someone from virgin calls before the disconnection date to offer a better deal.0 -

For the very few who don't get offers - though maybe recently with the increase in people attempting reduction via retentions they are tightening up, others have reported getting a phone call with a deal to stay. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
Hi, I was really hoping someone could help me. Things are getting tougher and I need to cut things even more. I am ready to call Virgin and try and haggle a better deal but would love some pointers as to how best to do this.
Here is what I currently have....
TV XL
V+ Box
Sports 1, Sports 2
BB M
and pay £60.50 per month.
The sport is for my lodger and he pays me £18.00 per month for that.
So, is there any way I could get this cheaper? I would be willing to drop down the tv package to large, but at the same time would like to increase my BB speed.
Oh, in case it's important, I have a BT line but use primus and 18185 so barely pay a thing for call charges.

Hi, after having read the postings by others i thought id ring virgin up and ask them if they can do anything for me...
I rang 150 from my virgin phone and said talk talk are offering me a better deal, what can you do for me. They asked about the deal TT is doing.
The 1st person i spoke to said she cant do anything. i hung up and spoke to someone else. he said that they would offer me the same deal im on with them currently at a lower price. Im on talk unlimited 24, Broadband M, line rental, and free tv (just getting the freeview channels). This was costing me £29.95 but now i have to return the vbox (which they will come and pick up themselves - which was a sacrifice i had to make) and keep the rest for £20.49!!!! I also got discounted international calls thrown in!
If i wanted to keep the vbox then they would only knock off £1.0 -

Not too bad I suppose, I take it you did go through the options to leave and not just talk to normal C/S?
I couldn't be without the cable TV myself as I find the Video On Demand / catchup TV / iPlayer very useful, a huge proportion of my viewing this way. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... I gave Virgin a call on Wednesday - I currently have :
Broadband - M
T.V - L
Phone - XL
and it costs us £48 a month.
I want to upgrade to a V+ box, so I told them that Sky had offered me a free Sky+ box and free installation (a leaflet I recieved the other day)
They informed me that for an extra £3 a month I could upgrade my TV to XL, and everything else would remain the same. I also have to pay £35 for the V+ box.
Should I give them another call and see if I can get a better offer, or is this the best I'm going to get?I don't believe in doing things the easy way.....0 -
We currently get:
TV XL with V+ box/service
Phone XL - 24hr calls/line rental
Broadband M - does the job fine
Sky Sports Collection + Setanta
(no movies)
All for £52.95/month.
Does anyone know of a better price for this package or is this rock-bottom? We rang up disconnections about 3 months ago and this was quoted as there cheapest, just wondered if things had changed?0 -
P.S. Before we got the Sky Sports collection package added, we got all of the above for £34.95/month.0

Hi, If you really want the best deal with Virgin Media. You will actually have to request to disconnect. They will give you a month's notice before they turn everything off.
Virgin's Outbound Rententions may give you a small discount on your package and if it a fairly standard package similar to other providers then they should on the whole be able to price match.
Once you have requested disconnections, someone should call you back from outbound retention basically asking you why you want to disconnect. It is at this point that you have the best position to negotiate. In addition to a discount, you may be able to get a wireless router and V+ box for free. You may also get 1 months rental for free. These are things to bear in mind in case you cannot lower the costs that much.0
