  • We joined Telewest and was very disappointed when they sold up to Virgin but we stuck it out with them. We were really unhappy when we lost Sky one being a big Lost fan. So I complained and told them I was taking all my services to Sky (phone, BB and TV) so they offered us a loyalty package to stay, so now got:

BB 2mb unlimited downloads (heavy user)
Phone line with evening and weekends free
TV XL with all on demand channels free

    £33.45pm (3 for £30 + £3.45 for free evening calls) :j

I have been through the "think we could get a better deal elsewhere" loads of time and looked through all the offers with other service providers but VM always come top. Maybe I am wrong, so if anyone out there can point me in the right direction let me know. I would really like wireless, router and faster BB speed so might push my luck with VM again.

    Will keep you posted

  • Was on Virgin with line rental £11.00, Broadband M £18.00 - called to get my MAC code and told them I was thinking of changing to BT with 02 broadband (total cost £18.00 per month) and was immediately offered £16.50 a month to stay with Virgin.
This is a saving of £12.50 per month but I was told I would have to ring again this time next year to get this discounted price again.
Result! (and the 150 call was free!) Just wish I'd done it sooner!!
  • I have just renewed my contract after Virgin upped the cost after the 12 month period by £7.95. Originally I was getting:

    Broadband Size M
    Talk Unlimited
    TV Size M

    All for £20.00

This was then increased to £27.95!!! I called and said I was unhappy and they offered me a retention package of:

    Broadband Size M
    Talk Unlimited
    TV Size M

All for £19.49 which was lower than my original plan! I then upgraded to Large broadband (10 Meg) for an additional £8.00. The total package now costs me £27.49.

I did try and haggle for a free V+ Box but to no avail!!! Oh and I got a free wireless router!
  • I phoned VM on behalf of my parents. They have just bought a computer and want broadband included in their package.

    They current have

    Talk Unlimited
    XL TV
    Sky Sports 1,2,3
    extra box in bedroom
    total - £62.50 per month

When asked to add broadband to this was told it would be £75 per month. I didn't think that it was a such a good deal as I pay £30 for XL TV, M Broadband and Talk Weekends. I told them this and they said that was the best they could do. My parents are now on a 30 disconnection notice.

Does anyone think they could get a better price or will we have to back down and take the price VM have offered before they get disconnected? Any help is appreciated!

It's the Sky package, XL phone (unlimited) and extra box that bumps the price up.

  • My mother and father in law have been paying £50 for their virgin media services for a long time, and they currently have these

    TV L
    Broadband M
    Phone XL

Obviously they were paying £50 for this service when virgin were charging this price, and now its worth a little over £20. what i want to ask is how are Virgin able to get away with over charging customers? surely it should be illegal to charge more than what its worth?

Would they be able to pursue a partial refund?

It's like any other business, new customers get better deals. There is usually no reward for loyalty, Virgin Media are not the only company to offer new customers better deals than existing customers on the non-discounted prices.

As a new customer they will be charge the existing customer prices with however a new customer discount.

I cannot stess strongly enough that if you are an EXISTING Virgin Customer looking for a better deal, you MUST ring 150 and go through to the "Thinking of leaving us" option.

This is the only place you will be offered good deals. the different departments seem to be completely unconnected and asking any other person on the phone for better deals is a complete waste of time, like speaking to a brick wall. the team who deal with disconnections are the only ones who have "Retention Bundles" to offer you. I have just signed up to Retention Bundle 3 which is Medium TV and BB with Talk Unlimited, Mobile and Weekend with a V+ box for £24.49. For another £8 I could have XL TV which is tempting.

This is after 2 weeks of speaking to different people! Worth it tho.

Yeah, you always need to go through to retentions to get the good deals.

My deal is for as long as I remain a customer. I can even upgrade some of the options and still keep discounts.
