If you call customer service they give you an option called "if you are thinking of leaving us, press 3" or something like that.
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.

Does anybody have an up to date telephone number for the retentions department?
    Thanks.

I take it you don't have cable phone? Otherwise it's just 150 and select the options you want to leave.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

  • Hi,

I was hoping someone could help me, I am pretty new to al this haggling business!

    I currently have,

    TV XL
    V+ Box
    Sports 1, Sports 2
    BB M

    and pay £60.50 per month.

The sport is for my lodger and he pays me £18.00 per month for that.

So, is there any way I could get this cheaper? I would be willing to drop down the tv package to large, but at the same time would love to increase my BB speed.

Oh, in case it's important, I have a BT line.

    Dave
  • I already have Virgin telephone and broadband (m), I cancelled sky tv and signed up to the Virgin TV XL, which results in a saving of £7.90 per month and better yet I have improved my entertainment package!

My last Virgin bill for phone and bb was £29:
    Telephone Line Rental
    Talk Anywhere 200
    Broadband M (2mb)
    eBilling
(+ SkyTV 4Variety and Sky Sports package: £36.90)

    add new items from Virgin:
TV XL (Setanta) + Sky Sports Collection
V+ box £30 one off discounted installation
    free 54mbps wireless router

new monthly cost is £58 (talk anywhere 200 is included at £9 addition)

Do you find the Talk Anywhere package useful? For the vast majority of people it's poor value. Better to have a different package and use Say No To 0870 to find regular numbers so as not to pay the rip-off charges VM charge to 0845 and 0870 and if you can't use Call 18185 to route those calls, also to route International calls and most mobile calls.

  • I just called to cancel my contract as I had an offer for a free Sky+ box, and their package is better...well thats what I said. Only really wanted a better deal.

Was paying 35.95 for Broadband M, Line Rental, Basic TV and Unlimited. Now paying 19.45 for the same plus Discounted Mobile and International calls. Never got a free box thrown in though. Lady I spoke to said the Sky Boxes on offer are reconditioned/old stock. Their box is 75 with installation included, Sky's is 30 when you include installation....

But I am very happy with my annual saving of £186. Not bad for one free, unstressful phone call!
  • I have been a long term Virgin Media (& previously ntl) internet customer and have found it to be reliable and trouble free. I have Internet L and have phoned periodically to negotiate the price (standard cost £25). I have got it at half price and 25% off for many months. The price has just gone back up to £25 and when I phoned I was told they could not offer me any further diacounts. They will however offer Internet L + phone for less than £25! I am thinking of changing BT - we have line problems every time it rains heavily. I am tempted to go for Internet L, Phone with free weekend calls and TV L. Two questions - what is the best deal I can expect for this package and do I still have to pay for line rental on top.

    Cheers

    Steve
  • Hi, I'm after some help on getting a better deal with Virgin. I have been with virgin/ntl for over 2 years.

I originally signed up for 3 for for 30.
However, I have not used the phoneline for months (I have £180 credit with T-Mobile flext). Virgin Said if I remove it, I will lose discounts and it will cost me more!

my current bill looks like this...
    Line Rental £11.00
    Loyalty Pack BB/Phone/TVB -£20.00
    CallDispay £1.75
    Talk weekends £0.00
    TV Size XL £22.00
    Broadband size M £18.00

    Total £32.75

does this sound an ok deal, or maybe I could get something extra for my money.
    Thanks.
  •

Make sure you check your details, i get mine online and its wrong!!! Checked last mths and it was wrong, but neither OH or i realised at the time as different things were added on, then taken off. The guy who put it all through the system said the bill would be like this (thank god i wrote his name down).

    Where mean't to be getting:

    Tv - XL
    Broadband - L
    Phone - Evenings/weekends
    V+ box
    V box

    = £40

Aug and Sept they've charged us £51......OH is going to be calling them tomorrow to query it. However i have come up with 1 possible explanation....

You don't think the £40 charge for the services is purely that just the services and doesn't factor in the £11 line rental. Cos with that added on of course its £51 then, the cost of our bill

I have been following the chat about the Talk Talk deal but I am stuck with NTL as there has never been a BT line in this house (not strictly true actually as this was the Sales office but BT don't charge the developers, only the first person to buy the house!)

Anyway, I rang 0800 052 9403 the customer Relations number (option 2) and explained that I had seen the Talk Talk offer and wondered whether they (NTL) were intending to do any similiar offers. I also added that I am a broadband user with line rental and that I have been using the override numbers for all other calls, but I used to be on talk unlimited 24 as I am a heavy day time user.

Straight away, without any further effort on my part he offered me 2meg BB (shortly to be upgraded to 4Meg with no extra charge); line rental and talk unlimted 24 for a flat £20 per month indefinately. CHEAPER than Talk Talk AND BB instantly upgraded. This also saves on calls as I was using Call1899 at 1p/min! (and saves the fag of dialling the access number and listening to the nice lady before entering the number you really want!)

Go on, make that call. Good luck. :j
i live in a oap area, virgin have given every one 24 total the connection, but as Im in end block which is only one blobk that hasn't got it, they are refusing to connect me ,even though I want the full package, any ideas welcome, thanks
