If you register for online billing that will save you another £1 pm. I too have been a vm customer for 4 years and in that time I have only suffered a bb error once. When ever I have called they have been nothing but helpful. I currently have tv, bb and phone for £20 pm. I would recomend to friends.0

Hi yogal,
I think they should be able to offer you more, either a reduction for the services you already have or much more than one extra service for £8. You can see my earlier post as i was on the 3 for 30 with talk unlimited. I however didnt take up the offer stated as i really didnt want to pay for the installation charge due to bad experience with a very rude install guy. The rententions guy ws very nice and said i should think about it. Called back maybe a week later and spoke to a lady who was obviously in a bad mood and said she'd try and match my sky offer then said maybe it was better i go to sky! She did admit she hadnt read my notes of the previous offer regarding free V+ box as she had talked about how virgin couldnt afford to give V+ boxes away. So i said go ahead and set me up for a cancellation.
Called the next day or so to get my mac and spoke to an advisor who thought i was just cancelling BB said no the whole lot and said i called the night b4, he checked over my notes and replied the lady hadnt started the process which was strange? anyway he booked me in for the cancellation on 1st october which was fine by me. So come today the phone has been ringing off the hook from virgin media!
To be honest i really didnt want to pay the install charge but was perfectly happy to go to sky or get a freeview box.
Steve offered me a cracking deal said he would also match what i was offered before plus the talkunlimited and international thrown in and no install charge!! for £36 a month. I'm sure there was room to manouvre more or could have held out more as he was saying, 'please stay with us' and he had offered me a good deal by itself and then honoured the previous offers on top i was already happy.
my advice is dont go with what they've offered you so far decide in your mind what you'd be happy with and just try again the word sky does help and
also be able to quote what offers you've seen or people have been given also see the sky recommend a friend offers. Plus remember they do have various retentions packages as steve told me told me what my initial one was plus added extras catered to me!? So just ask and they should tailor something to your specific needs. They really can be helpful. So try again. If you dont get a good deal just agree to cancell you'll still have 30days before it goes through but i'm sure they'll be ringing you back to entice you further after 2!
Hope i havent ranted on too much, but let me know how it goes.

I tried like a bear with VM (see previous post above) but VM wouldn't budge away from their £44pm XL package even though I was only paying £37pm a few months ago. Quite fraustrating really.
Just one thing, am I tied in to a years contract with VM or do I just have to give them 30 days notice? I'm thinking about maybe just signing up for the £44pm package and then a few weeks later tell them I'm leaving and hopefully their retention people will offer me a better deal. Is this possible?0 -
I received a call from VM today confirming my cut off date and then going on to ask why i'm leaving and eventually offering:
TV: XL (without the Sky sports but with setanta)
BB: L (10MB though)
Phone: Talk unlimited.
£35.95
I reckon that's about as low as they are going to go, however, I told them to let me shop around to try and beat it and asked them to call back in a weeks time.
Does this deal sound similar to anyone elses?0 -
Just called Virgin
Told me my XL broadband package should have ended in July and tried to put my costs up :-(
anyway after a bit of haggling I ended up with
XL Broadband
Free TV (M)
Talk Unlimited
Talk International
Caller Display
Call Baring (to stop my son phoning all his mates mobiles)
Now £38.74
less £1 for online billing
= £37.74
would have liked V+ but would have had to drop my B/B to Large and with my son on XBOX Live my internet is slow enough as it is :-)2007 £1749
2008 £291.99
2009 JanMasscara £7.00 Feb megcabot books x 2 £20 XFactor tkts x 2 £58.00 (couldn't go though as they only phoned on day :-( ) foundation £7.99
total so far for 09 £92.990 -

If you are on Virgin cable, you have no real choices/options except using 1899/18185/18866's freephone access numbers for your calls.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

recently got a quartly bill from bt phone and broadband 139 pound (i'm pretty crap with bills )so read this thread and phoned virgin they told me that cable was not available in this area and transferred me to a dept that i leave my name and number and when it becomes available in this area they will phone and let me know (weird thing is its available 5 doors up my street )any way next day engineer salesman phoned and said they would be able to sort it out and have a look on the internet and see what package i wanted arranged to come round to house that evening .
got home from work and decided to phone bt informed them that i wanted to cancel,he asked if there was any specific reason and if there was would i tell him.i said that i had a little spare time as i was waiting for tony from virgin media to pop round and set me up a good deal and these were my reasons .firstly i had been on a contract with bt for broadband for 18 months at cost of 17.99 and that last month they phoned to offer me 2 pound discount if i signed up for another year ,i told guy from bt that i considered this to be a bit of a p i ss take as new customers to bt could get bb for 9,99 and i was getting nothing for my loyalty .i also said that as they were charging me one price and other customers another that i thought there may be leagle implications here (the way i see it ,its like unfair bank charges ).
he then asked me what virgin had offered me .i said bb ,tv and phone for 30 pound ,he said that bt were the biggest supplier virgin had 2 million customers and they had 37 million customers and that he would do me the same package on 12 month contract and throw in setanta sport 1 for free and free w/e calls for 25 pound a month .i said that sounded like a good offer but i was still angry with them and i considdered it rude not to speak to (my mate ) tony from virgin and asked if he could leave a note on my account stating the deal he had offered me which he did .
tony called round an hour later and informed him of said conversation and he matched it with all setanta channels
medium tv
phone with w/e calls
setanta sports
bb 2mb
25 pound a month (very nice)
also tony stated that contracters would be round and would have to dig hole outside house so they can install it (is this true ) as dont think bt would of been able to give me teh package what they have left on file unless they did same as .
also how do u sort out e-bill do i do it myself or will virgin set this up ?0
