also think there was potential for haggling a bit more with bt but am not greedy and very happy with the deal .
also last thing tony said was that virgin would be doing a credit check (and as i have adverse credit rating) will this be a problem ?
p.s thanks to everyone who has posted on this thread as i think that i picked up some tips that enabled me to get wht i view a good agreement.0 -
Can anyone tell me what I should expect to me paying for my package after haggling? I've been through the thread but not many people have 2 additional boxes... My bill says:
Line rental: £11
Loyalty Pack BB/Phone/TV B Sky: (-£21)
Talk weekends: 0
TV Size XL: £22
2Additional V Box: £30
Add Set Boxes Discount: (-£11)
All Movies & Sports: £25
Broadband Size M: £18
So total debits £106, total credits £32 = monthly cost £74.
Should I really be paying this much? I'd like to get it down by a tenner or so if possible, but we do use all 3 of our boxes and we do watch all those channels.0 -
I haggled with them yesterday, and got this for £28:
Caller ID
Phone line
Talk Unlimited
Broadband size L (10mb)
Mediium TVEverybody is equal; However some are more equal than others.0 -
i am just moving to a new flat with cable service, i need both phone and broadband access - if TV comes for free or in a good new that will be good, otherwise i really don't need it, whats the best deal to go for and can i negotiate as a new customer?0

Hi,
I'm currently with VM but I'd like to change my phone / Broadband provider (cheaper with Tiscali).
But I have no option other than to use VM for my TV (I cannot receive either Freeview or Sky due to location).
So, does anyone know if I can take TV only with VM without phone line rental? (There is no mention on the VM site of any prices for TV without phone line.
Thanks0 -

Yes, you can have TV without the phone line.
Though if you can get cable broadband (as you currently do) you would be extremely unwise to leave cable broadband for an ADSL provider and certainly for the likes of Tiscali and TalkTalk.
Also have you checked how much Tiscali will charge to install the phone line? As it can't use your current VM line as it's a separate network, it needs to be over the BT infrastructure. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
Hi,
I am new here and would like advice on trying to get a good deal with Virgin Media on their TV package. At the moment, I just have Broadband M that costs me £18 a month.
I want to upgrade to add a TV package, preferably L or XL and I want a V+ box.
What do I say on the phone to get a good deal? I don't want a phone line, just TV and Broadband.
I have seen a 2 for £25 bundle on their website, but that is only for TV L and you have to pay £5 extra for the V+ box, not to mention the £75 fee for installation.
What do I do? Do I try to cancel and ask for a good deal? Do I mention that Sky have offered me a free Sky+ box and installation (which I cannot have as I am not on the phone) ?Please help

I just called VM as I thought my discount deal was about to finish.
However, I was told that my deal was 'for life' and won't change as long as I stay with them. I tried to haggle them even lower, but with no success, but I think I will stick with them anyway (I am a bit stuck as I cannot receive Sky or any terrestrial TV where I am).
Any views on this deal? Should I have been able to haggle something better? My current deal ('for life') is:
TV: XL (I have a V+ box with this too)
BB: L
Phone: Line rental + XL (Talk Unlimited)
= £40.50 per month (Plus £5 per mth for additional (standard) set top box, less £1 for online billing, gives £44.50 per month. I would have liked have agreed an all in price of £40.00, but my current price of £44.50 is the best I could get them to do.)
Is this good or should I be able to do better?0 -
That's an excellent deal and you're not likely to get cheaper elsewhere!
I get - XL TV; M broadband and Talk Unlimited for £75 a month. I think I'll be haggling!!0
