Is there any way to get a better deal as a new customer?

for a bundle of cable bb 10mb, smallest tv and 24/7 phone. On the virgin site its saying £29.74 pm for the first 6 months then £39.49 pm after that. It still seems a lot to me
    Thanx

VM isn't cheap. There are many packages out there so please do a search. It would appear (see my posts)that as an ongoing customer, there are fantastic giveaway deals just to keep you but these are only coming from a particular department in the UK.I got mine in November.

If you want to join VM as a new customer then you might consider a 100% cashback website.Use Martins cashback search for this.
In the past you could earn as much as £150 cashback on the deals.Usually expect around £65.This needs to be factored into your contract price so it may only be worth around a £3 ish per month
Clear your cookies and read the T&C's if you are not familiar with cashback. No payments are guaranteed.
There is no haggling when you go cashback to site direct.Your contract must be completed online and cannot be done on the phone
  • I cancelled my virgin deal on Sat stating that it was too expensive £34.69 for unlimited broadband, unlimited telephone and the basic tv the operator I spoke to offered me a £2.00 discount, Told her I could get it cheaper else where and got the we are better speach but chose to leave. Was rang up today by retentions who matched the £26.00 deal I was offered and left me with the tv as well . Worth a phone call.:T
  • On my bill it says:

    Description Date/period Amount Line Rental 09 December - 08 January £11.99 Free Line Rental 09 December - 08 January £-11.00

This means that line Rental is in fact not free but 99p anyone else have this?

Not bad, but I only pay £4 more and have two V+ boxes. Just depends on who you speak to. What do you mean by "free tv"?

free tv i think is standard box with just 45 channels
  • I've been with telewest, now VM, for 5 years.

I have to say I find it next to impossible to compare the package I have from them via cable with alternatives.

    I get:

    1. unlimited anytime broadband

    2. TV which includes their on demand services

    and

    3. Landline including unlimited calls to other, geographical UK landlines

This ensemble seems to cost me around £80 - £90 per month and has escalated by about 30% since I started taking the service for some reason.

Can anyone tell me whether I am definitely paying over the odds or not?

I posted this on another thread yesterday.

My 12 months contract has just expired so I called Virgin on Monday to see what they could do for me. I am currently on the following:-

    M+ TV
    2 x V+ boxes
    XL Telephone
    L Broadband.

They informed me that my price of £50.99 including line rental could not be imporved upon so I asked to be oput throught to cancellations.

The chap, who was very polite and helpful told me that I already was. When I explained that I had been looking around at other deals from other providers he said if I could get something better then I should take it. He even confirmd that he had put me on the 30 day notice period without me confirming that i wanted to. I thereofre left it and thought I would try again another time.

I got a call last night (Wednesday) from a chap who was equally helpful and asked what he could do to keep me. I played hard ball for a while and he left me with some options to consider. I called back today (Thursday) to see what else I could get and have now agreed the following:-

    XL TV
    2 x V+ boxes
    XL Telephone
    L Broadband

£37.19 per month fixed for 18 months. I also got a £30 credit for month 1 and a new Home Hub.

I got an email confirming the offer too.

I am pretty pleased with that.

Looking at this again - i don't think it is achievable .Well it was but that would be 10 Years ago
Either that or some work experience trainee has ballsed up big time at VM -or they have become a charity

Sorry, are you saying I made it up? Oh and the email I got came from the work experience trainees supervisor. If you read through this thread and the other virgin media threads you will see I am not the only one to have got a deal of this nature.
