I currently have
2x XL TV
2x V+ Box
20mb BB
Normal Telephone
Paying £65 a month.
Ive always had a couple of deals from other companies in front of me when I phone up to cancel so when they ask why I can say "Sky is offering xxxx". You normally get the same lecture each time about broadband speeds, but it normally always does the job.
I think the key is to actually cancel and give your 30 days notice and then wait for the call back from retentions. They seem to be offering more than when you originally call to cancel or negotiate.0 -
Hi,
Not sure if this question really fits in this thread, but i'll ask anyway. I recently went to Virgin after a nightmare with Talk Talk. A bloke came to my house as the Virgin website was showing that my property needed further investigation before thay could fit anything. So he came said they could fit it and i signed up to the basic broadband, TV and phone package for £30 a month with him seeing as he was there.
The service was fitted and activated on the 13th November and i'm reasonably happy with it so far. I've just been on their website today to check on phone call charges and they are ofering the same package that i signed up to for £9.50 per month for 6 months plus £50 cash back.
Seeing as i am still within my 28 day cancellation period does anyone think it's worth a phone call or an email to see if they can drop it to this deal? After the hours of phone calls to Talk Talk i really don't relish the thought of more phone calls sorting out phone lines, etc. If someone has already tried it and failed/succeeded i would be interested in knowing...every penny counts after all!
Thanks in advance for any replies.0 -

From the dialogue on here it seems the best ploy is to cancel by email then wait for the retentions department contacting you to try and retain your custom. Then tell them why your cancelling and see if they can give you the same deal. If they don't get back to you near to the grace period expiring then phone them and try and negotiate the same deal then. You will be in weaker position if you have to contact them but either way you have nothing to lose, they can only say no.{Signature removed by Forum Team - if you are not sure why we have removed your signature please contact the Forum Team}

Here is a breakdown of my VM services, I've tried many times on the phone to haggle cost down but VM never lay up. always tell me i am on the best they can do and that downsizing any of my services wont make it cheaper as I'll lose bundle discount.
anyone know of a way i can reduce monthly cost without much change to service
Total cost is £91.83
Telephone Line Rental £11.99
Talk Unlimited £7.95
Ultimate Triple £-21.00
Free Voicemail £0.00
T V Size: X L £24.50
Broadband Size: X L £37.00
Skymovies & Sports 1, £29.50
tried mentioning new customer offers which seem better to but they always have an answer for everything on phone.
cant really budge on TV package hubby 'needs' his chanels but could take a smaller phone or internet if made a huge difference, only have house phone for emergencies and your internet for browsing only no downloads0 -

Thanks for the reply GT. I decided to give them a quick call (35mins!) rather than do emails, they said they could'nt guarantee if i cancelled that they would be able to put me on the deal advertised on the site. After some discussion they agreed to give £30 credit which means i get the Skt Movies package i just added for free for a month and a half.
At the moment i'm very happy with the service i'm getting, trust me anyone that has any experience of the hell that is Talk Talk customer service and/or faults line will know where i'm coming from, so £30 for half an hours work is'nt a bad result0 -
