Jesus christ this company is one of the worst I've ever experienced, dealing with these scumbags is making me ill. They've constantly lied to me to get my business. I agreed £23.49 on the phone and I get the contract today and it adds up to £26.94. I rang them to enquire about this and the lady said that the representative has to manually give me the discount each month to take it down to £23.49. She said that I have to agree to the contract at £26.49 and trust I will get the agreed figure, basically an illegal contract.

I am sick to my teeth of ringing these people, every time I agree something on the phone with them and get a contract sent out that is different.

I haven't been a member long but I honestly think this thread should now be locked and virgin media topics should be banned. We as consumers should stand together against these cowboy companies.

    Hi

DON'T TRUST THEM.They cheated my last year when i extended my contract.i was paying 14.99 for bband and telephone and at the time of renewal they told me that deal will remain same. The new bill after renewal arrived after 2 months and it was shocking 21.99.They refused later on and no tape recordings or written records found.I work 11 hours a day ,so didn't get the time to take them to the court. The advice is simple, Believe only what they send you in writing.

I agree - they did exactly the same with my son and agreed a figure with him over the phone then denied it later when he got the bill. He did manage to get them to put him back where he was though.

They also tried the same with me too. I cancelled in January and had my date of leaving fixed. Before that date I had numerous phone calls from Retentions to persuade me to stay. Eventually settled on a deal for Line rental, 10Mb BB, Anytime calls for £13.95pm. I confirmed with her that it was definitely a price for 12 months and was told yes on several occasions. The written contract also agreed.

6 months later I got an increased bill. When i Phoned to find out why I was told that I had a free line rental deal for 6 months and that was now finished so it would be £11 extra now. I said that wasn't what was agreed and asked to be put through to Retentions again. Having been put through to Retentions I was told that was what was written on my notes and that I must have misunderstood the deal! Despite telling him that I had a written contract that agreed with my so-called misunderstanding he said there was nothing he could do as the notes (written by the person I had made the deal with) said 6 months.

I emailed the CEO with an attachment of my contract. Within an hour I got a phone call agreeing the price for 12 months. No reason as to why I was lied to though.

Here is what I pay with Virgin Media - I'm happy with the price and the service (so much better than when they were ntl), but wish I could get the History Channel...not worth paying Sky double what I'm paying just for the privilege though!

    Line rental 12.98
    Talk International 1.50
    Talk Mobile 1.50
    Talk Unlimited 7.95
    Loyalty pack:
phone, broadband and TV (M) -17.46
    Fully itemised billing 0.00
    TV size M 0.00
    Broadband size M 21.00
    Paper bill charge 1.25

    TOTAL = 28.72

Does anyone know if we can get add on channels from Sky whilst with Virgin? We can already get Sky news.

After the discrepancy with the written contract as above, I emailed them a few days ago and got a call today. The guy said that there was no offer for £21.99 and the price is £26.99. When I insisted that I'd been definitely been told £21.99 he had the audacity to imply that it had been my fault through an 'miscommunication' and that there was no reason why the guy at Virgin would say it was £21.99.

So I said I'd cancel and then he saidwas still in contract- which I'd agreed to- for 12 months at £21.99!! Eventually he agreed to cancel it without any charge. But really, this kind of service and messing around is terrible. Time to be rid of them!

After reading others on this thread and the Virgin Media Retention thread, I emailed the CEO with this whole saga and they responded quite quickly, offering me £5 a month off for the next 12 months as a 'goodwill gesture' (to make it as the promised price). Well, thought I may as well accept that for another 12 months when I will re-evaluate my options...

Would any one of you virgin users know the price to add M (if they still do M) or M+ tv with a V+ HD box to my existing package? As far as I can gather it's a one off payment of £49 plus £5 per month for a V+ box but there's no mention of adding M or M+ tv to the package I have which is:-

    Broadband Size L £25.00
    Telephone Line Rental £11.99
    Talk Unlimited £7.95
    Caller Display £2.00
    Triple Saving Discount £18.00- Credit
Additional saving £3.45- credit (Will expire in 12 months)
    Total £25.49

The person I spoke to informed me that it would cost about £20 extra per month plus a fee of £89 for installation which seems a bit steep for a V+ HD box plus what is basically freeview channels (which is what we have at the moment) Any help would be appreciated.

I live in a VM area but currently have my line rental with BT and use overide codes for the few landline calls I make. My internet is with Bethere on their Un limited 24 mb service at £17.88 from which I regularly receive download speeds of around 14mbs. I am considering going over to VM but want to at least receive the broadband speed I'm acustomed too or even better. The basic TV package is thrown in as I understand it which will save me upgrading my ariel as it's not adequate enough for good digital reception.

Has anyone had any experiences of calling them up as a prospective customer and haggling them down on their new customer offerings?

    Thanks
