    Virgin make me so mad!
I rang up last month to add L TV package and reduce my talk anytime to eve and weekends only. I was told that I would be under a new deal and it would actually be cheaer. I usually pay £35-£38 a month - my bill came in this month at £60! I rang them yesterday to ask them to remove the L TV and was told I would now pay £29.29 for:
    M TV
    free eve and weekend calls
    L BB

    Does this sound right guys?
I have been with them since it was NTL from day one of NTL - no customer loyalty. Do you think I should cancel it all? I only really use the BB - but dont have a BT line as we never had BT?! So no idea how I would get BB without paying for a BT landline?

hi I think this is a good deal but I think if you don't already have a V+ box then you should get one with free install thrown in and a router/hub if you haven't been given one already. Make sure this offer is written on your account. You may decide to wait or call and see any other offers available to you. I had a similar offer to this just under 2 yrs ago and got the V+ & router included. It wasn't my first offer either so I had a reasonable offer on my account called up again and the retentions guy bettered it to keep my custom.

I had this nonsense from them too although I was told it was an 18 month contract for phone and 12 months for BB - never mentioned it on the phone, only when emailing which I insisted on. Also never mentioned the price would go up after 12 months until 18 months.

I told them I wasn't interested in 18 months with an increased price so would not accept it.

Have not heard from them since. They seem to have cut off my services today and not tomorrow when it should have been.

I'm not bothered though. I have had a BT line for years and now O2 for BB.
ah well it looks like i will be going to a bt line now the wife and kids wont be happy with the slow internet speed but it will be cheaper

They may not notice the difference depending on what they use it for. I had 10mb BB with Virgin and now have 5.5mb BB with O2 - don't notice any difference at all.

Do you know what LLU providers are available to you - it is still possible to get up to 20Mb with ADSL?

currently with virgin- line rental £12.24,talk 24/7 £8.00,10mb bb £15.25
    caller i.d £2.00=£37.49

bt winter deal- line rental £13.60, talk 24/7 inc all 0870 etc, caller id. and up to 20mb bb £16.00 = £29.60

also the bt deal is giving the first 3 months free and free line installation with web orders.

another plus is once with bt you can change broadband/phone providers and get even better deals:T
ringing vm in the morning to see what they can offer me-but i think its time to say nice knowing you virgin....

ok morning is here and had my phonecall...i have been offered my virgin package for £30.99 and a credit next month of £24 to go towards me paying for 0870 numbers for a year(i asked if she could throw that in on the deal she said she couldnt but gave the credi) so now im ahead of bt and dont have the agg of changing-it always pays to make a 5min call --

The XL is used for all services. XL TV means all channels except movies, sports and premium TV. XL Phone gives you unlimited free calls to landline numbers 24 hours a day and virgin mobile (make sure to redial before 60 mins when making any free calls or they will charge you.)

Your bill may also be expensive before you are phoning non-virgin mobiles I would suggest you ask for itemised billing if you don't have it as it is free.

You should be able to negotiate a cheaper price quoting Sky's £23 offer should get you a good deal.

I would write them a letter you often find you get a better response, tell them that unless they honour the lower price that you will switch to Sky looking online for the closest package to yours and quote it to them. Make sure you take down the name of the person the new price was agreed with and the time and date of the call.

  • The old 'I'm switching to Sky' trick has worked for us this weekend. We've been customers of Virgin for 4.5 years, my husband phoned and used that classic line ;) They reduced our XL TV, L BB & M Phone package to £41 a month (we had been paying £57), then he mentioned we have been valued customers for a good few years, have never asked them for a new box or anything, why can't we have a V+ box?!

They're coming to visit on Tuesday to install one for free! I should be grateful for this, but slightly peeved with ourselves for paying so much per month for so long!
