Hi again,
Sounds as though I should be ringing up. Did'nt know it was free on XL and low and behold Virgin never told me! Im not really bothered about a second box but would like V+hd. I am going to give them a ring and see whats what. Will stick a post back on and let you all know whats up! Cheers!
That's why you play around with various packages, noting the full price costs before bartering with retentions.Fog on The Tyne isn't mine all mine... but if I wanted it, I'd want it with a discount code.0 -
MumofThree wrote: »I have been following the chat about the Talk Talk deal but I am stuck with NTL as there has never been a BT line in this house (not strictly true actually as this was the Sales office but BT don't charge the developers, only the first person to buy the house!)
Anyway, I rang 0800 052 9403 the customer Relations number (option 2) and explained that I had seen the Talk Talk offer and wondered whether they (NTL) were intending to do any similiar offers. I also added that I am a broadband user with line rental and that I have been using the override numbers for all other calls, but I used to be on talk unlimited 24 as I am a heavy day time user.
Straight away, without any further effort on my part he offered me 2meg BB (shortly to be upgraded to 4Meg with no extra charge); line rental and talk unlimted 24 for a flat £20 per month indefinately. CHEAPER than Talk Talk AND BB instantly upgraded. This also saves on calls as I was using Call1899 at 1p/min! (and saves the fag of dialling the access number and listening to the nice lady before entering the number you really want!)
Go on, make that call. Good luck. :j
I live in a OAP bunglow there are approx 21 in total, all of them bar seven of us have been updated with NTL lines,
But due to a refurbishmant we were missed, Now Im told by a engineer surveyer we can't be done unless all seven of us will go for it, and IF I LIKED TO GET THEM ALL, they will do it, I politely told him Im not doing his job, Id like to know what Sir Richard Branson thinks of his staff and their customer Service!0 -
I have been with Virgin 4 years, called last week and argued the toss about costs, that even with my Loyalty discount my cost were virtually the same as a new customer, 20minutes of erguing, i cancelled my services. So I waited for the call.
The important thing to do is research your other providers and costs ( Virgin do this too), so when they call you know what you are saying, they will know if your just fishing for a reduction, do the research and if necessary re-confirm the cancellation, they will try a few times before the cancellation date ( its their job )
so when customer retentions called today, I advised them I had costed the Telephone and broadband with Talk Talk £12 p/month, and opted for Sky HD+, both deals following Martins Cash back suggestions, result in £30.05 p/month for a matching service, Virgin offered £35 p/month ( including land line) we split the difference at £32 p/month fixed for 12months.
Instant saving of £14 p/month or £168 p/year
For the purists I know I could have saved an extra £23 p/year, but I have to admit I like the Virgin Service, they're just getting very pricy nowdays.
The key thing is I had a cheaper and comparable services lined up to take my business, everthing thing I advised Virgin was true,
I ( you ) are in a win win situation, all it comes down to is the inconvenience of changing providers, which is what Service providers count on.0 -

called today to try and get a better deal (again!) we've been customers since Diamond Cable which must have been 13 years ago or more
we currently have...
Line Rental £12.24
Phone, Broadband And TV Saving £-7.00
Talk Weekends £0.00
Fully Itemised Billing £0.00
TV Size: M £0.00
At Races £0.00
Broadband Size: L £25.25
total £ 30.49 per month
I priced up the equivalent offer with Sky which after Quidco and voucher offers worked out to be £394 for a year, with Sky+ box and more channels as they have Sky1,2 and Atlantic
I called 150 then thinking of leaving us option and spoke to someone who priced up the V+ offer which took us to £36.49 per month plus a £49.95 installation, so £487.83 for a year
They refused to budge on discounts, free installation etc, so I've given our 30 day notice and have arranged for the equipment to be collected at the end of the month! Hoping they call back before then0 -
Oh dear! What if they don't ring back:eek::eek:0
-
I can call them and change my mind as long as it's before the end of next month
just hope I don't forget!

I currently have the following
V+ HD box
XL TV
SKY Movies and sports
BB size L
phone M
I pay approximatly £60 per month for these services. This price includes a loyalty discount from a few years back. Is this a reasonable price to be paying or is it worth phoning retentions?
Any help is greatly appreciated0 -
Hi,
I have gone through many pages to try & find a similar deal to one I am looking for but here is what I am after:
Broadband L
TV XL
Phone XL
Sky Sports
V HD Box
Should be able to get a good discount but cannot get much less than £65 for it all.
The irony is that I can simply go over to Sky at £52 per month including £50 M&S Vouchers & get MORE as I can take "All TV" including Movies etc.
The benefit in my argument would be that the broadband is not essential unlike others so their Fibre Optic business does not appeal massively so Virgin haven't got too much of a pull although surely I can get that for less than £65 from them? It's less hassle staying with them but Sky seem the far better offer.0 -
I cancelled on Monday and got called back today
we had...
Talk Weekends
TV Size: M
Broadband Size: L
for £ 30.49 per month
was hoping they'd throw in a V+ box with free install for the same money but we've been offered...
Talk Weekends
TV Size L
Broadband size L
free 0845 and 0870 calls anytime
free V+ HD box
free installation of the V+HD box
and an HDMI cable!
for £ 22 per month, so that's £ 100 a year less for a much better TV service :T
kids now very pleased as it means cartoon network is back!0
