  • Hi guys,

VM was installed 3rd March 2010. I'm guessing the soonest I can leave/threaten to leave is to give 1 months notice on 3rd March?

We have 1 x hd+ box, 2 normal boxes, m phone, m broadband, bill inc 3/4 quids worth of calls is £58-£64 PCM. What's the best deal to quote to reduce this? Thanks for any advice!

    Thanks awm49,
could I ask what m phone is?
I'm not sure if we have a bad deal or not. We have never had any kit (what's a v + box!!?) and pay around £37 - £40 a month as long as we don't use the phone except at weekends, and then only geographic numbers. We are happy with the BB and TV package but the phone restriction is areal pain as we our mobiles don't get a signal at home reliably.

  • Could someone pls tell me if im geting a good deal with VM? Im thinking of leaving them as Ive had nothing but bother with my landline not working all weekend and terrible customer service...

    Total service charges £77.04:

    Tel line rental £12.24
    Talk unlimited £ 8.00
    Additional loyalty discount £ 3.00
    phone/tv/sp Mov discount £23.25
    Call display £ 2.05
    TV size XL £25.00
    Boradband size L £25.25
    Paper Bill charge £ 1.25
    Free itemised billing £0
    Free voicmail £0
    v+HD Box £0
    Premium tv channels:
    Skymovies 1 & 2, sports 1 & 2 £29.50
  • Our last loyalty deal has long since expired (well over a year) and I wish I'd looked at this sooner. We currently have:

    £20.50 Broadband Size: M
    £24.50 TV Size: XL
    £10.00 V+ HD Box
    £15.00 1 Additional V Box
    £11.99 Telephone Line Rental
    £ 9.00 Talk Anywhere 200
    £ 1.25 Paper Bill Charge

    -£19.50 Loyalty Pack BB/Phone/TV B
    -£ 9.50 Add Set Box(es) Discount

    £63.24 Total

The best option retaining the current package is a £10 discount for the life of the new 12 month contract. This involves some V+ buy back which wasn't properly explained, they'll charge £75 but refund it immediately.

We watch very little TV, the XL package was part of the loyalty bundle which is the only reason we have it. However converting both STBs to Freeview will still mean a bill of £47.54 a month.

Anyone have a comparable set of services and advise what deal we should be pushing for.

    Many thanks.

    I have:

    Telephone line rental £12.24
Phone, broadband and tv saving £-7.00
    Broadband size L £25.25
    TV size M £0.00
    Total £30.49

I might call them to see if they can do anything to reduce this.

I just called them and they offered me a deal for £26.49....
    However...
As I don't have use for a phone line they will deduct the £12.24 and upgrade the TV to L so the cost for Broadband L and TV L will be £31.
That'll do for now (just very annoyed that I've been paying for a phone line for years that I thought I needed to have and I didn't....grr)
  • I am paying £124.24 per month for:-

    Line Rental 12.24
    Talk International 1.50
    Talk Mobile 1.50
    Talk Unlimited 8.00
    TV xl 25.00
    2 additional V Boxes 30.00
    Less discount -10.00
    V+ HD Box 15.00
XL and add v box discount -15.00
    Broadband L 25.25
    Paper Bill 1.25
    Movies and Sports 29.50

Called Virgin and told them I dont use the phone so I could get the deal cheaper by going to Sky for the TV and BT for broadband. Also I watch Sky Sports but not the Movies.

They reduced the Sports premium to £22.50 by removing Sky Movies, took out the Talk International, Talk Mobile and Talk Unlimited but left in the Line Rental. Threw in some more discount and offerred me a deal at £76.19 ... a saving of £48.05 per month!... and the lady I spoke to was very nice:j

I am 2 months into Virgin Media bundle 12 month contract- but i want to cancel the internet and transfer to a larger TV pacakage instead
I was told 30days notice is required (which seems way to long if i am merely transferring services)
So given that info -will i incur any costs ? as it is not a starightforward cancellation ?
  • I've been lurking around this forum for some time now but finally took the plunge
to sign up for the forum... What a great community.

This is my 1st forum post and I would really appreciate anyone's help with this one -

I am with Virgin and have '50mb Broadband', Telephone with 'Evening and
Weekend Free calls' and the 'XL Tv Package' with the V+ Box.

I also have the added Disney Channel that's £5 extra also.

I pay a handsome £78 per month and have been a customer for at least 4 years.

Didn't have the full lot back then. Just started off on the broadband and added
the rest about 2 years back.

I am contemplating writing them a letter to haggle the monthly price.

They haven't sent me the new router I was supposed to get a few months back
when I upgraded to 50mb broadband which I have followed up with them twice
now over the phone but still no router.

I am going to direct the letter around the missing router to start with but what is
the best way to haggle the monthly price down in your eyes. Any ideas or
experience with this will really help.

I really want to keep the broadband no matter what I do because it's obviously the
    best around.

How would you guys format the letter. What would you write to get the best effect
and have any of you managed to easily reduce your monthly outgoings with Virgin,

Thanks in advance and really look forward to any input :D

I would just call them and ask them what is the best deal they can do on all the options that you have.
If you don't get a better offer then say you want to cancel and they will put you through to another department and I think they will offer you a better deal.
Call them and if that doesn't work then write a letter and especially complain about not receiving the router and they may offer a gesture of goodwill.
Are you paying by direct debit? I think there is a slight discount if you do.
