Does anyone know how good the virgin mobile deals are that they will offer to an existing media customer?
I've seen the 10 pound ones but ideally need more than that.
At the moment we only take cabel broadband from them. Absolutly no need for a phone line. But woudl consider a tv package.0 -
Hi all,
There are a couple of things with the V+ packaging, which may help you reduce your monthly bills.
Virgin charge £5 per month in order to use the record function of the V+ box. This £5 cost is pro-rated; so if you call 150 to get the record function switched 'off', customer services will do this immediately for your and won't charge you again until you switch it back 'on'. So if you only have your V+ box recording function switched 'on' for 15 days in a month, you will only be charged £2-50 for that month.
There is also an inherant fault with the V+ box. If you turn off the record function as referenced above, the box will then not let you select BBC, ITV, etc. interactive services (i.e. Use the 'red' button on your remote control to select interactive services). Interactive services is a freebie provided by BBC, ITV, etc. for all digital TV users. It is not a service provided by Virginmedia. This fault may enable you to complain to customer services that you don't see why you have to pay £5 to access the 'free' interactive services. If you are lucky, they may restart your V+ record function free of charge in order to get you access back to interactive services.
I hope the above helps.
Thanks for the above.
Called Virginmedia customer services today and, after some polite debate, I have got £5 per month off my monthly bill forever as well as keeping my V+ functionality.0 -
Possible Problem With your Virginmedia Email
Hi all,
Virginmedia migrated my email account over to Google GMAIL 2 weeks ago. They are doing this for everyone's Virginmedia email account; so if yours has not been done so already it will be done soon.
During the last weekend, I found out that there was a problem with the migration. My PC email client (in my case Outlook) wasn't receiving all of it's emails. I then logged onto my Virginmedia webmail account and found over 100 messages sitting in a folder called 'spam'. I then unspammed a couple of them and hey presto...my outlook client then picked them up. For info, I had no filters set up. I then phoned up customer services support to report the problem. They advised me that they have fixed it for me but to keep an eye open on my webmail spam folder. If I see another message in this folder, they advised me to give them a call back and my problem would be passed to 2nd line technical support. I'm not convinced they have fixed it and so will be looking periodically at my spam folder.
I have also requested compensation from them due to the above and am waiting to hear whether they will uphold my request.
I suggest that everyone checks their webmail account (Go to Virginmedia.com, select 'EMAIL' in top right hand corner, sign-on, select '4-more' folder on left hand side and you will then see your 'spam' folder) to see whether you have messages in their spam folder, which your PC email client software is not picking up. If you have this problem, I suggest report it to customer services and to request a refund.
I hope the above helps.0 -

Hi all,
Just to provide an update. Virginmedia have advised me that their webmail server automatically performs spam filtering and is the defualt setting for everyone's webmail account. It can be turned off but nobody knows how to do it. I have escalated within Virginmedia and will let you know as soon as I hear anything.
In the meantime, I suggest that everyone checks their webmail account as referenced in my previous posting.0 -
I give up the best deal I can get (which Ive agreed to) after 3 calls to retentions is:-
Triple XL, plus the Asian Collection (£10)
2 HD recordable boxes
£65 per month and no install charges.
Im pretty sure they gave me a better deal when I initially disonnected which was the same but with the sports collection for £72 per month, but they had no mention of this on the account. If it werent for there Broadband being better Id be off to Sky. Ive got a 7 day cooling off period which Ill use to mull it over.
Does this sound like a decent deal to everyone?0 -

I want to know if the following is a good deal or if i could get it better/cheaper. Am also quite keen to get a V+ box. Here's what i'm currently on:
BB - M: 20.50
TV - XL: 24.50
Phone - 11.99
Total: 56.99
Discount: -19.50 (for BB & TV Loyalty)
Total: £37.49
Thanks for your replies
Isnt that strange
I get exactly the same deal, and i have been with tw/virgin for 14-15 years now.
I have been onto them for the last 40 mins trying to sort a deal out BUT
The main problem is with their BB packages (especially for us "loyal" members on the (10mb M) package, try and install windows and update it with MS updates, you will be capped even before they Finnish 750mb and you are capped to 2mb for the next 5 hrs. When we all joined years ago there was no capping. I am now better of with BT 5.5mb (my max) at least i will be able to do an update and keep over the virgin 2mb capp.
Its time to move on, they have no loyalty bonus, i have just canceled..

Not sure what you're getting at regarding capping. I'm on 10mb and I have installed Windows and all the updates and I've never been capped. I have downloaded much bigger programmes and again never been capped.0

you have been very lucky then (or work for virgin)
on the 10mb M package you are capped down to 2mb for 5 hours during the hours of 4-9pm after you have dl'd 750mb the last vista fresh install and update was 775mb for the first update, i was capped before that even finished.
Feel free to call virgin and they will tell you the cap limits (amounts and times)

I do not work for Virgin. And as I said before, I have never had a problem with capping although I never download films or music so maybe that's why.0
